Dawnierae! You watch Dexter!! :)

Just wondering. If you saw that last episode where they're both in the restaurant, the doomed waitress only talks to Colin Hanks and totally ignores EJO, and he doesn't have anything in front of him to eat or drink!!!

This is one dark season, no? But very entertaining!!

Great show, but I'm biased. My neice, well my wife's neice actually, plays one of the main characters on the show. :-)

Sorry to share this from black_man_x's twitter feed:

Wanna know how long till damn extended battery for gnex... This LTE is a hungry bastard.

Hopefully that tweaked spec is the battery. You may recall he made a battery comment a while back and then sort of back tracked a little claiming he was using it very heavily for 6 hours. I was very suspicious of his change of tune. I thought maybe he got whacked on the knuckles by Google for being critical of the device. Now he makes this statement. I'll be curious to see if he pedals backward on this again.

Sort of expected. LTE is definitely a beast. It is unfortunate to have to turn it on and off all the time, but necessary if I want the phone to last all day.

@Kirk0625 estimated is one thing.. New update has me getting 4 hours.. Course I downloaded a 2.8gb torrent in that time..

I'm actually pretty impressed if it holds up 4 hours downloading torrents with LTE..

OK, I've been lurking, but, then Dexter came up...so, I decided to register.

I think CH killed EJO 3-years ago and yes, he's a figment. Going much better than last season IMO. Of course, season 4 was impossible to follow up with season 5, so, that one didn't really have a chance.

OK, on to the GN... I'm making the switch from Iphone, had the 2G for $600 on day 1, upgraded to the 3Gs on the first day that it came out. I have enjoyed my time with the Iphone, but, since everyone on earth seems to have one now, and they haven't made any significant advances in the last 2+ years...I'm ready to move on. I bought a Toshiba Thrive a few months ago (needed the ports, card reader, etc.) and have enjoyed the OS. Decided on the GN since the OS will be most like the iOS and what's on my tablet.

Thats my story...Since I'm official now, the people in the know can go ahead and post the official release date, pricing, etc.

I don't know if anyone has seen this, but since Duarte's exhibition of the face unlock feature failed, I thought I would give this a look. I actually didn't think I would care for the feature, but this demonstration impressed me. Not saying I'll use it consistently, but I think it will be a cool feature (at least for showing off to people who would rather talk with their phone than enjoy a liberating OS....)

And how bout that SGN, huh!?

Hahaha...YES, next to True Blood, Dexter is my favorite show EVAH!!!! I didn't pick up on that, but you have a great point. Trinity Killer season was my favorite so far...but this season is shaping up to be great.

Oh, and about that SGN...so we have what we can consider to be a pretty reliable (thanks to Steven) drop date. Not what I hoped for, but at least I can be a little more productive at work now, and I should at least have the phone before my trip to Dallas for Thanksgiving. All is right with the world, though I still just can't help popping in here first thing in the morning to see what went on all night. :p

I must admit I was a bit temped by the Razr and the rumors about the Vigor. However, my wife bought a Rhyme and I got my first exposure to a skinned android device. I must say it runs very smooth but I never really understood the term "bloat" before I looked at this phone. I thought it was enough to root my OG Droid to get rid of the Verizon apps that annoyed me. However this is so much more ingrained than that. There are so many programs running that cannot be stopped or removed. This would drive me crazy after about a week. Even if you could root it, other than using a complete ROM, could you even get rid of this stuff? Seems like it is so incorporated into everything that removing things would be tricky. Not sure how similar Blur is to Sense.

I will wait until November 17th without question to have a phone that I know (at least I can expect it based on past Nexus devices) can eventually give me the ability to add and remove stuff. Actually, I would wait until December if need be. I could not imagine how utterly frustrated I would be after a month or so with a phone that was totally locked down. I do not think I will ever buy a phone with a skin unless I had assurances that it could be rooted.

Like many others I was caught up in all the over-hype of the specs for this phone and was a little disappointed. But the more I thought about it the more I realized that when I am using my phone day to day I couldn't care less what the processor speed is or the MP of the camera. What I do care about is what I see every day and how it works. Something as minor as seeing that 911 location indicator in the nav bar would drive me insane! My OG droid has lasted me this long and I believe it has more to do with the fact that I could root and ROM and change it to the way I like it. If something annoys me I can remove or replace it.

As long as this phone works as well as the demos have shown and I can root it, I am sure it will last the full 2 years of my contract. I am officially all in on the Nexus. Now to decide if I pre-order or take the day off and get it day one.

I think, like Siri, Face Unlock will be the coolest feature we never use. As a contact wearer will it work with/without glasses? What if a woman has makeup on/off? What if the lighting is too bright/dark? Answers will only come when the device is in hand.

I keep remembering it failing during the unveiling.

I had the same thoughts. I believe the makeup thing could hold true, and that's my opinion on why it didn't work at the unveiling - He had makeup on.

Oh, and Chief, my awesome wife went out and got me all 6 Star Wars movies on blu ray, not to mention the Jurassic Park trilogy in blu ray as well! Now I see what you mean about worrying if it will all fit. I burned the Star Wars movies into .mkv files and they're taking up 16 gigs by themselves!

I hope this baby releases with 32 GB!!!

Yeah I was going to use DVDCatalyst to rip the regular Star Wars DVDs to 1280x720 resolution, and now I have some idea of their file sizes. I figure that kind of resolution will eat up 12-13GB. Whew! So we NEED 32GB memory!

Enjoy the Blu rays, Han, as I will... as soon as the new entertainment center comes in :)

P.S. CONGRATS to Magdelaine, who is likely caught up in the revelry of the big Cards win there in St. Louis... maybe... unless she's just skipped the whole baseball thing in lieu of geeking out with us ;)

P.S.S. I will use face unlock CONSTANTLY, with pattern unlock as backup. I HATE redrawing that pattern constantly, so face unlock will make my MY life a LOT less miserable!

I don't know what she carries but I have to make sure there is a zippered pocket in all the purses I own....and everyone knows they are not allowed in there. ;):D

I need to find a pair of knee high boots with a pocket. One on each boot - my phone/money/license in one and my 'zippered contents' in another.

Please post a pic with your new boots and SGN :D

Yeah and what about folks who dont particularly enjoy shaving everyday. I would have to update my image countless times a year due to the fact that I grow a beard for most of the year, but shave it off sometimes to spice it up. Definitely the coolest feature we will probably rarely use.

Go Dawgs! GATA!

I think I will use the Facial Unlock quite a bit. Sure, it failed a few times during the unveiling, but more recent videos show it working pretty nicely. Thankfully I don't really change my overall appearance too much! (It is great to be a guy!)

Nah, the cops are looking for him now, so I'm pretty sure he's real ;)

Agreed. CH killed EJO and he's now a "harry" type guy. That last bit with the "angel" getting sliced up was freaky!!!

Wow! That's cool. If she plays Debra, she is one hot lady!!!

Agreed. When I'm lazy or don't have to go to court, I let it grow out a little bit. My wife doesn't like a bushy beard, and neither do I, so I don't let it get too out of hand, but still. . .although I'll never use the unlock feature, except for if I'm at a party or something and want to show off the gimmick. My wife would be too curious as to why I lock my phone. (Yeah, we're one of those couples where nothing is sacred.)

Dang it! I keep trying to get an online chat with a VZW rep while "choosing a phone", and although they keep freaking long hours (supposedly), I always get the "offline" button.

Do they even exist??

Nothing sacred here either, Han. Darling Bride knows my pattern. But should the phone fall into the wrong hands, I don't want them seeing all my contacts, my address, home phone etc. It's just a safety feature to me.

I highly doubt it supports it now, but it'd be great if they could support multiple face unlocks.

Although I think that the face unlock feature can be breached if someone has a photo of you. Granted, a mugger or a thief that steals it when you accidentally leave it on a restaurant table to go use the bathroom won't have your picture, but still. . . .
