Root Is there any ROM supporting the 5.6.893 update?

Please note, NOT talking about 5.5.893 ... but 5.6.893. There seems to be some controversy surrounding these two versions.

And now there's a 5.7.893 available!!!

Scroll down to Post#4 for more info.

There are no roms yet. 5.6.893 is 5.5.893 with an lte fix. You can use the cheesecake way to get it but I have not seen a download yet.

Here's a screenshot of each update installed on my phone. I'll find the download link(s) as well, in a minute.

I can also tell you that there was some other text that popped up at the end of the install process regarding an LTE fix, or something to that affect.

File download links:

Click here for 5.6.893 (The filename is incorrect, don't worry about that.)

I think you're supposed to update to 5.5 before flashing 5.6. That's what I did.

Here's the link to 5.7.893.

Fartknockers! I'm on 5.5.893.

Time to get a flashing....wait, I don't have LTE out here - do I really wanna take that chance???

Oh, hellz yeah- I'm heading up to ATL tomorrow for Netherworld, so....oh yeah.

Joe, the 5.6.893 file is named 5.5.893

???

Izzat right? (I did notice the mr1 after the 893, though)

No worries, I already DLd it b/c of the MR1 after 893 - just checking in case it was the wrong file - but I'm a dowloadhoarder, so....

Will i be able to flash back to 5.5 after i flash 5.6?

How does one update the 5.5.893 to 5.6.893? When I try to go to Recovery I get a Boot Failure

This is how I did it. Just like when you updated to 5.5.893, you have to be back to stock, full bloat. Then after you update, reboot, go into stock recovery and install the update 5.6.893.

It appears to me that now we are able to get back to the stock ROM/radio (866) anytime we want to using this method. That will flash the stock system.img along with the 886 radio. Did a few times yesterday as I played around with this crap all day until I finally understood what the heck was going on.

OK I did the r3l3asedboot and reflashed to .886 but...my recovery is different...

mine says it's version 0A.61...I remember having .53 prior to installing .893 OTA. Everytime i go into the recovery to install the OTA it keeps giving me an

Invalid Flash Mode (S) (Boot Failure)
0A.61

What's everyone's recovery version #s?

Joe,

The 5.6.893 update did something amazing to my phone.

Background info: Since the BIONIC can connect to WiFi via Wireless N, I finally changed my router over to only offering Wireless N (instead of the N/G I needed with my DROID). With my DROID, in my bedroom, I was getting crappy speeds, usually around 4-5 Mbps downstream, sometimes as high as 10. On my BIONIC, on Wireless N, I was getting 5-7 Mbps on average, sitting in front of the router. I was like WTF?

Then I applied the 5.6.893 update. WHOA!

See below:

This is from Friday sitting in front of my router, before update.

Test 1 from my phone in my room about 30 feet away *AND* with 3 bends (hallway, and 2 room doors)

Repeat test, b/c I could not believe my eyes.....

And this is just now - sitting in front of my router....

I'm guessing the LTE fix is more than just an LTE fix :p

Rectified. Heppy? :p

Seriously, thanks for calling me out on that - I'm usually really good about passing my thanks about....

I so wish I had LTE in my area :(, sadly it will be quite sometime from what I have been reading. I live in southwest Florida and Ft. Myers just got LTE, but Naples/Marco Island where I reside will take some time.

Yeah, I had a friend who was from Naples, and lived for quite some time in Port St. Lucie.

I live in an AF Base town, and it's a rather important one - and yet our land lines and such are always the last to be upgraded. Same, now, with our cell towers - not seeing LTE for a while....

When you mean back to stock, what do you mean? Like back to full bloat on 866? Or full bloat on 5.893?

If I use the R3L3AS3DRoot and 43V3R root for the BIONIC v2 tool it says that if I restore on 5.893 it will give me the 866 system but the kernal and radio will stay the same. Is that what you did?!?!?!?! Because I thought if the system didnt match the kernal it wouldnt update?

How would I get back to a 5.893 stock system with a 5.893 kernal?

Stock is full bloat on .866. The link you provided will restore you back to where you need to be ... just use option 1 when you run that script.

Oh I was under the impression that you needed to have a matching system and kernel to update. Meaning that if I reverted to 866 I would still have the 5.893 kernel, meaning the update would not work

There is no 866 , only 886 lol. I might have to run that Cheesecake app since my recovery isn't working

Recovery isn't working? Huh?

Which step are you having issues with? To actually install the updates, you need to boot into the recovery menu and select recovery, and at the triangle press Vol Up/Down simultaneously....

That's the problem. When I choose Recovery I get a Boot Failure error. I was able to do that before I flashed 5.5.893. After that the Recovery # changed from .53? to 0A.61. I even tried to flash back to 5.5.886 which works but the recovery # doesn't change. I asked a few threads up what everyone's recovery # was but I got no answer.

At this point I cannot flash any of the OTA updates via recovery.
