While analyzing the source of my high network usage (cfr. this thread http://androidforums.com/samsung-galaxy-s2-international/437653-big-network-usage-battery-drain.html), I noticed something strange in the data used by the standard Android Market.
I downloaded today the update for the Google+ app from the Android Market, which was 1.9Mb. When that was done, I noticed that my data consumption was not up from around 2Mb, but 10Mb
.
I used the "Network Usage" app to look at this issue, and, while the data used by the Market was indeed 1.9Mb, I had four new entries of 7.7Mb used, from processes called Download Manager, Downloads, DRM Protected Content Storage and Media Storage. So, the amount of data I downloaded for this simple upgrade was multiplied by 5
.
My questions are:
- Is this normal? What are these four other internal applications, and why do they use so much data?
- Is this problem specific to the Galaxy S2? I didn't have it on my previous phone (HTC Legend). If so, this is pretty dumb from Samsung...
Thanks in advance for your help!
