Doesn't HTC usually have a quick turnaround time from announcement to actual release? <hoping it is still November 10th> LOL

You could say that....

With the Thunderbolt, Best Buy was HTC's worst enemy. They kept advertising its release and making customers believe it would be released on a certain date only to have that date pushed back on more than one occasion (They were trying to iron out the whole Skype issue, was the rumor). On the plus side, anyone that pre-ordered from Best Buy and complained loud enough were given a gift card ranging from $100 to $150 I believe, not bad for waiting a few more weeks for the release.

But to answer your question, HTC pretty much kept its mouth shut up until a day or so before it was released. Hell some people that signed up for a text message when it would be released didn't even get notified when it was released.

wasn't there issues with the Inc at launch as well? I was thinking it may have been low supply though?

The only issue I can recall is some of the amoled screens had a pinkish hue to them. There weren't a lot that had that, but it was an issue. Most of the problems came out of HTC & Verizon not anticipating the demand and Samsung being unable to produce enough amoled screens for both themselves & HTC. That led to it being out of stock for pretty much the first month or two.

The Thunderbolt was my first dive into the Android world. I remember seeing the first Android phone but I was hoping Winmo wasn't going to offer up as much suckage as it did....

When I was younger I also got a Turbo Grafx 16 instead of a Nintendo system....

I turned down a 2 week contract position last year that I found out later turned into an $80,000 a year full time job....

The next woman I meet, I think I'm going to tell her, "Hi my name is George, I'm unemployed and live with my parents...."

WOW.... just wow. Somehow my suckage just seems so much less now. My condolences.

Or, you could tell her that you're a marine biologist and see where that takes you:D

...Between the three devices there is a great device, IMO:

1. Nexus display and Google update path Added: Actually, I am leaning to the Razr display, since ICS will use the capacitive buttons, so less display sucking battery.
2. Rezound SoC (I prefer the Scorpion dual core, in spite of its Arm design)
3. Razr sd slot location, build and newer LTE chip

Zoinks, I may just use the Droid 3 as my primary phone for as long as I did the Incredible (14 months). By then, 28nm LTE and MAYBE even lower fabbed SoCs as well.

...Well if you wait till 28nm LTE is out then you will be saying...shoot maybe i should wait for the next better nm LTE....can't wait forever.

I got my DX at Launch. I'm getting bored with it and its time for a tech refresh lol

And therein lies the problem. I'm more than ready for a dual-core LTE phone, and like rush, I prefer the Q SoC's. First, I told myself that I would wait for the Krait (S4) SoC's. The promise of more power with better power efficiency, and a thin phone is fantastic. No doubt, Krait will be a beast. When the timeline finally became known, with first devices allegedly hitting the stores at the end of 2011, I factored in overall reality plus the "Verizon factor." Phones with Krait SoC's will more than likely not hit until late Q1/Q2 2012. I hope I'm wrong, but I feel like it will be Q3/Q4 before they hit Verizon (just like it took so long for Verizon to get an S3 device. So, I decided to dive in now, and by the time a Krait phone is available on Big Red, I'll likely have another upgrade on one of my lines.

Scorpion is very nice, and IMHO, highly underrated. I do wish that the Rezound at least had the 28nm modem, but unless battery life ends up being terrible compared to other newly released phones, I'll use the Rezound until there's a good Krait phone on Verizon, at which time I will give the Rezound to my wife and use her upgrade to get the latest and greatest:D

Turbo Grafx 16 rocks, so not so bad ;) Galaga 90, Blazing Lazers.... Just those two games made the system worthy for me. Have the PCE emu on my Android devices :)

Not seeing Krait in mass production and in a price range OEMs will bother with until mid year, at the earliest. Also, 28nm is still not been cleared for mass production due to high scrap yields in the process. Industry analysts were reporting this last month. Apparently getting to that low micro level is more of a bear than chip makers thought it would be.

I'm not familiar with scrap yields, can you explain it to me?

Also this should be announced today. I'm excited!

Also do you really want a first gen 28nm phone?

1. 28nm process with current equipment is problematic. It is almost to the point that manufacturers have to review their current process and layouts and perhaps throw hundreds of millions (as a whole for the industry) of capital and update their production ability. 45nm to 28nm is not a proportional change, but an exponential one. Lot$ of money to get er' done.

2. I remember the Turbo Duo, but too much money and was heavy with the Amiga at the time ;)

3. I would not want a 28nm SoC at launch, mainly because we would probably be paying a premium for this rather dramatic fab change. I prefer jumping on board when lower cost :)

Never know though. They could get it done cheaper than expected and fix current yeild issues quickly :) Means lower cost (in theory).

I got one better. How about the Turbo Express. I bought one off a friend for next to nothing. This thing was awesome for it's time. The biggest drawback sales wise was it was super expensive.(not for me though) Galaga on the run..yes please..lol.

I had one too and bought it at launch! I even had a card adapter so I could play Japanese games on it. The Turbo X was a battery hog, but the TV tuner add on was cool :)

I think it was $300 at launch or more... I am still ashamed of this purchase back then.

Imagine that extended battery cover put on this

I don't think it looks too thick. Not quite as sexy as the GN or Razor, but it could be worse. I still would have liked some chrome instead of the red.

That video is the same one somebody linked to earlier - and you thought we were hard on the guy....

IMO that phone looks amazing in those press shots. I can't wait for the press release. I hope some bloggers get a hands on with it.
