daylight savings time is hell on battery!

this is the EXACT pont of DST. So you dont need to use those light bulbs and save energy.

Various battery widgest from everywhere that might be reporting the same thing sometimes. Some of them also have software bugs.

I suggest that there is only one number we can all agree on ... 0%. It also seems like there is a batch of bad batteries (not all of them) out there and they are also clouding the observations.

I suggest that we should see how long it takes to reach 0% and use that as our yardstick (unless we enjoy talking forever and never reaching a resolution).

Well I usually use my Bionic a lot during the day, and I can get pretty much a full day without having to recharge (full day means up till about 8 or 9pm). Today by 10 AM i was already at 15%, I made the mistake of blowing it off and not charging the phone, unfortunately I only have a usb charger (which is not the one for this phone) and now I can't get the phone to boot up anymore, when I plug it in i get a solid white LED and thats about it.

I have a verizon charger in my truck, but by the time i bring it back to my desk (only 1 minute away) to plug it back into the usb, it dies. I guess I'll have to leave it in my car charging all afternoon. :mad:

I've never experienced this problem until today. (Yesterday was Sunday so I didn't use my phone as much).

Anyone else seeing this behavior??
 
Yesterday, it was fine..... Today, I had to charge my phone twice, even with a re-boot. I thought is was local VZW networking issues... maybe not.

Charge it in the truck for about an hour then you should be able to charge it the rest of the way with your usb.. I hear that the usb chargers dont put out enough juice..
 
Something is up for sure... I was getting around 10 hours pre DLS.. Now barley 7 hrs...

My phone is all of a sudden hotter than normal since yesterday. Right when I woke up and picked it up with the charger still attached and quite a while after detaching. This never happened before.
 
The time slipping back may make the system think that all of a sudden the battery has been discharging longer, and / or it may be a case where the system goes into a panic and starts polling the cell towers to make sure the new time change is actually accurate.

At any rate, not only letting the phone reboot, but letting the battery actually die, and then charging it to full power, and then turning it on, may help clear it's memory.

I'm swapping batteries when I run one down as fully as possible (if I know I'm going to need the phone, I may replace the battery at the 5% mark) and I haven' had any issues....
 
As of the last 24 hours, everything is back (almost) to normal. Still getting dropped calls.
I pulled the charger at 6:30am yesterday(fully charged) and at 6:30am today I have 60% on the battery.

I traveled from a 3G to a 4G area several times yesterday, I checked facebook a few times, the weather, and watched a few vid's from youtube while waiting for my wife to be released from the hospital.

I didn't do anything other than uninstalling apps. much better battery life...makes me wonder if maybe the time change confused the phone somehow and it was trying to get more information from different sources???

You raise a good point here. I did notice that the "time on battery" displayed was not correct after the switch on Sunday.
