i have had my inc since launch (never actually had a phone last more then a yearish....they always broke) and up till now there hasn't really been a phone on the marker worth switching for. but, this thing looks like a monster and i'm edible for a extra 'loyalty discount' (any one know what that is?) at 12/29 so i might even get it for 200. so, inc owners, what are your thoughts? how many of you are switching to this, the nexus or waiting for them to both come out and compare?

PS- i'll be back in a month or so looking for help on how to copy apps over that are not on the market any more.

yep i'm getting it, and i have a july '10 amoled inc.

also, that loyalty discount is just your new every two discount. since NE2 is gone, they're calling it 'loyalty' discount lol

wait, so after i buy this phone i'll have to start buying phones at full price?

nah, it won't be new every 2 with 30 or 50 dollar discounts...it'll be every 20 months, you upgrade at the phones upgrade price..like $299 in this case. no 30 or 50 bucks off anymore

I am coming from the incredible also. It is easily the best phone I have ever owned. I gave the T-Bolt a 14 day test run and wasn't happy. I plan on giving HTC another chance because my incredible was such a good phone. I am a big fan of Sense and am not too worried if ICS is delayed on the Rezound (which is most likely going to happen).

i've had my DInc since day one(4/29/2010). it's an amoled and i havent had any problems with it. its the best phone ive ever had. im going to get this over the nexus and razr. even though i started with a moto razr, i hate the moto blur interface. sense is very ice and polised and ics looks nice, but i read somewhere on here, "you can't change hardware(i.e. the 1.5 dual-core, and everything else thats better) but you can change software" so that made my mind up pretty much. i think i'll give my mom or dad my dinc, don't want it to leave the family. ;). counting down the days till 11/14

Had mine since pre-order, but I haven't fully decided yet which phone of the big 3 to get yet.

I have also had the Inc since pre-order and my date is also the 29th of December. I had always had Motorola phones before and that the call quality was better then what I have had with the Inc. I am tired of having to ask people to repeat themselves and being ask to repeat myself. So I was thinking the Razr as well. Part of me also wants to wait till April when my commitment is up and look at some other carriers. I have just blindly re-upped with Verizon for years. maybe the grass is greener.

coming from the Incredible as well. I'm getting the Rezound as soon as possible.

btw, all you have to do is use astro file manager (from market) and use the 'back up applications' function to save the apk of ANY app on your phone

Got my incredible on launch day as well. Going to use my son's upgrade to get this beast. Not sure anymore if I'm going to pick it up on launch day, or wait and see what bugs people find.

Good point, will probably wait a couple weeks myself.... i like watching hands on stuff, etc

The Incredible is so fancy, coming from an Eris. It's a tired beast that has worked my patience. A little torn between this and Razr, think I'll have to check them both out once the Rezound is available.

A friend has had the Thunderbolt since it came out and loves it. He was showing me some things over lunch, just amazing how quick that is, and to think the new grouping of phones is even faster. While there are some little things about the Eris I like, it's almost humorous how slow it is. A bit like a bad joke, anymore.

if you thought the Tbolt is fast this phone will blow you away!

I waited for five weeks for my Dinc which I put into service the seventh of July. I was in that "it will never ship" line. By far the very best phone I've ever owned. My only complaint has been the speaker which I have seen.. or heard four of them go South in less than two years. My original and all three refurbs had the amoled screen which I've always considered fantastic. My present Dinc again has a bad speaker but most annoying is the power button which takes an act of god to actuate and my original back that I've used since day one has lost a couple of it's locking fingers making it almost lose on the unit. Another refurb or rezound.. it's a no brainer.

This phone is much bigger than the Incredible it's actually taller than then Thunderbolt (same width, and a little thinner)

Coming from the Incredible 2 it's not too much difference in the pocket, it feels better and less bulky than the Thunderbolt did. It's faster and far superior and using it with Exchange email the added sense features are awesome. They actually take advantage of the extra pixels in the Sense apps and widgets by allowing more info to be displayed.

I was worried about the screen not being amoled but head on it looks just as crisp and clear as the incredible (not fugly like the Motorola Droid x screens) Then only noticeable difference is if you look at your phone from a sharp angle, the you lose the color and it becomes bland and muted. It does address the sunlight issue, you CAN read your screen in direct sunlight with the Rezound.

The audio is very nice with a noticeable difference in bass and highs with the included monster/beats ear plugs. I've used many sets of headphones from Bluetooth Senheiser, various mid level brand ear plugs and even my prize set of Bang & Olufsen, this combo of phone and ear plugs is by far the best.

So...are we to assume you got your hands on one of these early? The remaining questions for me are battery life, and if the bloat is constantly running in the background, or just on the phone, available.

Any thoughts on either giraffehunter?

Battery life i cannot answer yet, I was playing with it all day yesterday without fully charging and today is my first day of normal use with a full charge.

Results so far seem normal compared to my (incredible 2 before she was rooted)

  • 8.5 hours off charger
  • 75% battery remaining
  • over 60 emails exchange push (ding only no vibrate)
  • Average about 30 minutes of awake time
  • 15 minutes of music playing
  • Wifi Connected
  • 1 call about 4 minutes (from handset)
  • All location services enabled
  • background data enabled

All the Verizon/HTC Junk is in attendance
Vz Navigator
Vcast and YES it's integrated with the music app
Blockbuster, kindle facebook other social networking apps and widgets up the wazoo. Overall they do not interfere with the use of the phone (except for the choosing the default navigation app on the fist launch of addresses for apps)

FYI HTC Locations does not hijack the navigation as it does on some phones.:D

Thanks for the detail. Seems that battery is more than reasonable. Also sounds like a lot of extra junk, at least it's not in the way.

I've been lurking until now...
My poor incredible, which I've had since May '09, is finally being re-commissioned as an MP3 player because I'm getting a Rezound. I'm actually really excited! I'm technically not up for an upgrade until the end of January, but I called a VZW rep on 11/3 to explain that I want the Rezound and that I'm willing to order it as soon as it's available. The rep told me that she could give me an early upgrade, and is coming in to work on Monday (she's normally off Mondays) specifically so I could order my phone. I would try to order the phone early like some posters in the rumor thread, but I figure I shouldn't push my luck, since they're already doing me a favor.

amswink - best of luck! i'm going to just head to the store on Monday (hopefully), and walk away with one. Not cheap, but it will be a constant companion for some time.

Enjoy.

Sounds like battery life is pretty good. Let us know how it holds up!

Seems weak, since if only 30 minutes awake time, that extrapolates out to a dead phone in a few hours if actually using and awake, unless social apps were sucking some serious juice in the background.

If social apps and data pushing was most of the weight of the 25%, than it is not weak. I am not a fan of the LTE in the device, so makes me weary of its battery life. The rest of stuff sans the Beats is fine- those would be sold. I prefer sound quality over bass quantity.
