Fine, you pulled me out of the corner.

A little about myself...

My passion for smartphones began with.... (I hate to admit this) the BB Storm. I remember camping out at 4 AM at my local VZW store and posting obsessively with all my fellow campers on the Crackberry forums. I had so much fun I knew I was hooked on the whole process, the build-up (on the forums) the camping and finally receiving and contributing to the community.

Then one day on that forum somebody posted a link about a new phone coming out called DROID on VZ. I quickly became intrigued but was struggling with switching platforms because at that time I thought I was a die hard BB fan and loved using BBM with all my friends and family. The more and more I learned about the DROID the more I started realizing how much the BB was lacking.

My "obsession" quickly turned to the Original Droid. I believe at that time I made a profile on AF but never really got in to posting on here. The day finally arrived and I took the day off work and got my VZW store early and bought the Droid. I was hooked at that point, BB OS didn't hold up at all compared to Android. I loved the openess of the platform, the web browser, learning how to "root" my phone for the first time.

I remember my first sense of accomplishment when I rooted my phone and got pinch-to-zoom to work on my browser, how awesome!

I was so jealous when I saw the Nexus 1 was being released on T-Mobile but that feeling was soon negated when I saw that it would be arriving on VZW soon. Well as we all know, that began to slip further and further back and then all the sudden the DINC was captured in the Wild. That quickly became my must-have phone.

I believe if my memory serves me correctly I was able to pre-order the DINC at Best Buy by purchasing a 50.00 gift card. I was the first to pre-order and had the first appointment of the morning. I took the day off work and arrived at the store, dashed to the mobile department and was told their shipment of DINC's did not arrive yet. I was FURIOUS! They assured me the shipment was on its way and would be there by 2 PM that day.

Of course I couldn't wait so I left and went to my VZW store and they had plenty in stock. So I purchased it there instead. I loved the DINC it was an awesome phone and I literally talked my whole family in to getting one. Then the DX came out.

I got my mother all up in the hype of getting a new phone so she accompanied me to camp out at a VZW store and buy the DX. I had that phone for about 2 weeks before I couldn't stand it anymore so I went back to the DINC.

At that time I told myself I wouldn't get another phone till a phone was was released with a 4in screen and front facing camera... And wouldn't you know the DINC 2 came out. So that brings me to today and my current phone. (I should mention I got the iphone 4 when it was released to test it out. I kept it for 30 days: Absolutely gorgeous phone and gorgeous display but I could not stand not having free navigation and the openess of android so I dropped it)

There was a point where I left my DINC 2 at work and was leaving on a week long trip that night so I ran out and bought the Charge. I loved the 4G on that phone and the blazing speeds, I hated taking that one back, but I saw the reports on BGR about a "nexus prime" device that was finally coming to VZW.

I began regliously follow the news on the SGN. I was so disappointed when the press conference got pushed back but when it was finally rescheduled I decided I was going to throw and Ice Cream Sandwich party. I bought a bunch of Ice Cream Sandwiches, had some friends over and put the live feed on the big screen and I saw the next stage in Android and I have been excited ever since.

A little about my personal life...

I'm 26 years old and in the Air Force, I'm married to a beautiful wife and we just had our first child a little over 1 year ago. My wife has been absolutely supportive of my passion for technology (although it is a lucrative business)

I lurk on the forums every single day itching for any new news. Reading here has definitely passed the time and I cannot wait to get back in the forum community and start to contribute again.

Warm welcome to you! Thank you for serving!

Why couldn't it just be an optional extended battery?
Could be. Samsung's web page doesn't indicate that, says its the standard battery, but who knows.

I am betting this is it people. Going all in like OTD at the poker table. And my feet are still tapping from the excitement.

Welcome to the forums and thanks for your service.

Here's the deal folks. If your CSR knows anything about the SGN, they are getting their info from us and will spit it right back at us. It's one big circle of rumor. It gets really funny when we report it as news, after we hear from them after they hear it from us!

As we're getting closer and closer, I'm at a crossroads. Do I pick up this wonderphone on launch day, or do I wait until there are some solid reviews and see what bugs may or may not be present?

Decisions, decisions...

OK,
I'm NOT trying to get everyone's hopes up. I know what the Samsung page says (1750mAh), but here is the pic of the battery next to thier text. It does say NFC on it, so the picture is either from the i515 battery, like inteneded, or is another battery from a phone not yet released with NFC.

But here's the kicker. 7.77Wh @ 3.7V isn't a 1750mAh battery. Nor is it 1850mAh.

Folks, you're looking at a 2100mAh battery!!!!!

Let's not get too excited yet, as we all know how companies use stock photos. But with all the secrecy surrounding this handset, it wouldn't surprise me to see them sneak this in. Also, I don't know of any other Samsung handset that has NFC, and a battery that large.

Fingers crossed.....big time.

Edit: For reference, the GSM GNex battery is 6.48Wh. This is looking GOOD!!!

If there have been some delays with the release of this device, might this be the reason? Battery upgrade? Exciting!

Depends on your personality and/or situation....can you wait? If so I thinks its a grand idea to wait to see initial impressions from real world use

For those of you with broken phones/etc, why not test the waters on the RAZR (or ReZound)?

VZW does offer a 14-day worry-free guarantee! You get a phone for a week, and if the SGN does get delayed for more than 14 days you can "return" your new contract

Hola peeps!

My Dinc2 came in and I'm posting via the Phandroid app. It is an amazing upgrade from my OG, may she rest in peace. If you can't afford the Nexus or if you want to wait for whatever reason and you are rocking a dying OG, this is an excellent choice. 0$ from Wirefly with two year contract; however I'll probably upgrade out of pocket in 6 months.

W00t! So excited for y'all. One more week! Hubby will probably get a Nexus so I'll be able to play sooner than later.

:D

I'm pretty sure that worry "free" thing now includes a 35$ restocking fee...

Funny about this. I've seen others charged it and I know about the fee. However, I've returned 3 phones within the 14 day period (used to be 30 days btw) and have never been charged this fee guess I'm lucky.

Congrats on the Inc2 I think its a sweet little device ;)

Last speedtest I ran was over 10 down and 5 up. I've seen it higher when I first got my TB but it looks like more 4GLTE phones are out there using up the bandwidth.

Friend of mine has the Bionic, but we must be in the LTE sweetspot (NashVegas). He regularly gets 35-40 down and 8-12 up. I can't wait for some LTE goodness.

Exactly Stephen. That also goes for most of the articles on the net.

I told that story a few days ago where I asked about the GNex and the CSR reps at the verizon store tried looking up its release date on Google.

Is the RAZR available only at Verizon tomorrow, or will it be at Best Buy, too? I might go ahead and test drive it with their 30-day return period. . .just until the SGN comes out, of course

Exactly my speeds in Atlanta over a 2 week period that I had it. I think it's a daRn good phone though unlike a lot of other opinions on it

Congrats! My wife recently picked up a DInc2 and she loves it.

(Seriously guys - do I have to keep you all in line??!! Lol)
No no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no - You do not WANT the Razr. You WANT the Nexus with Ice Cream Sammiches. You know you do. Stay strong!!! I feel we are in the home stretch now?!

Don't make her use that riding crop in her avatar on you!

And also pay $35 for that priviledge. For some here, a $300 phone is a serious investment, and $35 on top of that only worsens the deal. Not to mention all the time and hassle that entails.

And finally, it is not morally ethical. I know some will disagree with me, but when you pick up something with no intention to keep it, just to return it, that costs you time and money, costs verizon money, and ends up costing everyone more money. Drop in the bucket, for sure, but it still doesn't make it right.
