***Official Galaxy Nexus Pre-Release speculation thread**

on a side note I talked to a Verizon rep about a month ago and he that they passed on the SII to get something different and he said it would be out in the next month or so not ALL Verizon employees are completely clueless I really hope its the 17th cause my inc died a month ago they sent me an inc 2 and it came with 2.3.4 which is not easily rooted and it also keeps deleting my apps such as internet browser in calender so I'm really looking forward to the Gnex

First week of Dec would be absolute worse case scenario barring nothing catastrophic.

Here's another thought of mine that may or may not be true....I can't see Google allowing release of ICS to any other manufacturers until the Galaxy Nexus is released...now while the U.S. isn't the center of the universe its a big part...so I have to beleive that its in Google's, Samsungs, and even Verizon's best interest to get this phone released so ICS can be released to the other mfger's and other ICS phones can be released.

Good news is: the closer we get to Thanksgiving / Black Friday / Cyber Monday, the more things we'll have to distract us from the passage of time. This period of the month has been pure "wait for the Nexus" time and it has nearly stood still. But the later it gets released, the faster time will fly as we'll have more real-life things going on.

Next week ends the long wait. If Nexus comes after the 17th, it will then become a short wait :)
True that there Skipper...:p
I have been waiting a long time for this cell, so what is another week or two.:)

Also historically on average is the small length of days between official announcement to launch of devices with no preorder period.

Look at announced/released dates:
Samsung Stratosphere specs
Pantech Hotshot specs
Motorola DROID BIONIC specs
Motorola DROID X2 specs

Quiet launch could mean minimal warning time

I appreciate this, but none of these phones were flagship phones (except the Bionic, whose release debacle was previously noted in my pose). The X2 could be considered a flagship phone, but Verizon was already in 4G territory by then so I don't think they would consider it such.

The thunderbold was 3 months late to the game.HTC ThunderBolt specs
The Charge was 5 months from announcement to launch.
Samsung Droid Charge specs
And now that VZ/OEMs are actually able to launch on schedule, we have the RAZR and ReZound, each with more than 1 weeks notice.

Right, and if the Q1'2012 date for ICS for the RAZR is true, that does lend credence to a sooner than later release of the SGN, though I guess Motorola and HTC already have their hands on ICS so they can integrate blur/sense.

That is true, but ICS will not be available for other cells until mid January to mid February anyway. The tablets will get ICS first.

RAZR tomorrow and Rezound on Monday. How is that spread out? That's a weekend. If you don't know something solid a week from now, then jump ship.

Exactly, the RAZR tomorrow, ReZound on Monday, and then the G-Nex in December to spread the holiday shopping around.

You mention the TBolt and Charge but weren't those both documented cases of delays?

I thought the same thing. But does Euro launch count?

It's impossible to prove you wrong, it's also impossible to prove you right. You're going to believe what you're going to believe. You've chosen for no particular reason to go off the deep end.

I'm glad some of you don't follow VZW phone launches regularly or you'd be in a nuthouse by now. This is all SOP.

Edit: This phone was in cellbrite a loonnnnggg time ago.

Thanks for referring to me as "going off the deep end" whilly-nilly. I'm merely pointing out that we have nothing firm going for the 17th. And, correct me if I'm wrong, but I was under the impression that the cellebrite screen shot was later shown to be a fake as numerous others have come forward stating it is definitely not in the system (at least since that first leak way back when).

The Thunderbolt was even less like here - Verizon set no date, but the blogosphere and forums and tweets gained followers and that set expectations.

We knew it was coming from an early news announcement, then ads - but Verizon made no announcements until just before the release.

So - the Thunderbolt was late per group expectations but was never delayed by definition.

Yes they were, but sadly they are the only other examples of flagship 4G devices (besides the RAZR and ReZound, which had 1+ weeks notice). I was trying to say that your previous examples of short launches (whilst appreciated--I did "thanks" your comment ;)) were of phones that are not flagships (e.g., the stratosphere) and hence maybe not the best examples of how Verizon would handle the launch.

You're right. Now I remember those Thunderstorm ads.:)

I don't think so. BF sales leaks have crazy good deals on other carriers. VZW does not want people committed to another carrier. This is the time to drop the a-bomb.

Can someone catch me up? apparently leaving for a couple hours makes me completely confused. Something about the web only 21st again...again? Or we still thinking the 17th?

I think it definitely counts but I also think Google gets a little bit of leverage with this being the first ICS phone, especially with the amount of Android phones Verizon offers..

Course I could be just wishing its true so the damn Nexus gets here sooner:eek:

Just curious, but has anyone seen this thing running without a live wallpaper? I probably won't use one, unless I'm showing off to my iPhone owning friends :p
Saying that, I know live wallpapers cause a small amount of lag on my thunderbolt, and even on my friend's sensation, so I was wondering if running without a live wallpaper would make things run even smoother than they already are on the gnex. It may not matter because of software optimization and hardware acceleration, but I just wondered.

It was not fake when I saw it with my own two eyes a few weeks ago. I cannot recall the name given verbatim. But I believe it was something along the lines of "SCHi515 Galaxy". Sure, you dont have to believe me or anyone else who posts comments such as this, but we have no reason to buy into your suspicions of a December launch either. Remember, everything right now is pure speculation. Everything.

Thanks for completely consuming my waking moments the last few weeks guys! hahaha, I've been in the forums in the past but thought I'd create a legit profile this time around. Like many of you, I am currently a frustrated owner of a dying first generation Droid. I wont go into a personal diatribe and instead just say that you all have been very helpful in keeping the lurkers informed, entertained, and anxious. Well, most of you ;) Here's to climactic finale folks. Cheers from the great plains.
