I don't see why you would need a ROM, my 8 yr old is using my wife's old Eris as a iPod type devide. It's rooted w/ stock and works great. It's perfect for him because he has a camera, video camera, and music player all in one. He takes it everywhere. I even got him some cheapy speakers from Amazon so he can play his music for his friends. Maybe becusee of the Sense it is easier to use w/out a ROM? Otherwise I don't think you need anything special. My 10 yr old has already claimed my DINC for the same use. He asks me everyday if my new phone is out yet??

Need was probably a big word. I made a first pass at this with my wife's old Eris and the thing is so slow that I rooted it so I could OC it. Problem is now it always asks me to set up the account when I power it on. I am going to try again with my Droid and since it already has CM7 on it I figured I would reflash with a different ROM. Do you just leave all your account info on the phone or do you reset it to stock? Just thinking in case your child left it somewhere like an airport.

IF Verizon makes their announcement on the 15th then Google will surely mention them but this is a Google Music event and I don't think we will be get anything about the Nexus that hasn't already been announced.
 
Sigh the poor old Dinc, is giving me more and more issues :/

I'm gingersense 3.0 on it but it doesn't seem happy and I'm getting more and more FC's and UI reboots :(

I was hoping it'd last till I got my GN and I'd flash it back to stock for my sister(she's still using a eris...)

But, alas I think I'm going to flash it back to a stable 2.2 ROM (virtuous probably)

oh well... as long as it doesn't die, I don't think I could handle my old SCH-i760 at this point...

Ahh both my Inc's are running like thoroughbreds on MIUI and CM7 ICS theme. They've never been more solid. Going to be great hand-me-down phones for father-in-law and niece

I have a problem with it, and it is very intrusive. Anytime I factory reset my phone it wastes time trying to communicate with it's servers.

There is only one acceptable Verizon app I would want. One that monitors signal stream coverage dead zones and sends them to Verizon at night. I don't think that exists though so Verizon can stay out of my phone.

Ok, ok I'm done messing around. Had to say it once. I'm sure you get it all the time around here. Anyways, I'm just as amped as you guys for this phone so hopefully VZW gets over itself and the Razr and Rezound so we can finally get to the Nexus...

Agreed, it is a nice looking UI. The fact that he is claiming great battery life with that much stuff open makes me think it's gonna last a long time with a bit more moderate usage.

The name of the event is "These Go to Eleven" plus the recent rumblings of a Google Music store and its not hard to come to the conclusion on what its about.

I tried to switch to CM7, I was too much of a "sense" person at the time. At this point I'm just going to something familiar and safe (I ran virt. for the last year)
 
I'm sorry I was gone for a lot of the day, today. Apparently, I missed some drama. (Did I plan to miss that? I wonder... :p)

Anyhooo....

Was at the Verizon Wireless store today. I really played with the Razr. It did get warm with prolonged usage, but it wasn't unpleasantly so, this time. It's a nice phone and I wouldn't blame anyone for getting it.

There was a customer there engaging me in convo about the three phones and pumping info out of me for all he was worth, so I didn't get to try to pump the vzw employees.

The employees did tell me gnex cases were NOT there in stock, as yet. :(
