Root Process for moving between Liberty3 and MIUI?

I'm interested in giving the new MIUI based on ICS a shot for some fun this weekend...

Is there anything special needed when going between the new Liberty and a 2nd init rom like MIUI?...Idc about making backups or anything (I never do...like to start fresh whenever I flash anything)...is ROM Manager the best option for this??
 
No backups? Not even TIBU? Where ya been? :D

I prefer to boot into recovery to make a backup since doing it from RM doesn't halt on an error. If I'm just upgrading to a newer build, I'll do it from RM and check the "backup" check box. I really like DL'ing a rom with RM tho. Why use a PC if you don't have to?

I don't think you can create a backup, install a 2init rom, then restore your backup to return to stock. Also to enter recovery at boot with MIUI, you need to watch for the blue led and press the volume down button to pull up a menu.

i backup my apps with TiBU, but never restore data...i never make nandroid backups as i just prefer to start fresh when flashing something...i just feel better about a clean slate install...

as for the ICS MIUI...

Sounds like he added the framework from the SDK. I'm surprised it so fast considering.

It seems rather promising considering its a slightly cobbled together solution at this point...it should only improve with time!

If development goes well and performance is good along with some decent battery life then it MAY appease my need for a new device just long enough to get me to my update day in March...lol
 
I already liked MIUI and now like it even more. :D

The current dev for the X's MIUI is too busy to continue it so I was assuming I'd have to move onto another rom, but with a new one stepping up and this, I can wait.

when the ICS solution is more complete im giving it a shot no doubt
 
Assuming you're on 602 or 605, you should be able to factory reset, then flash it.

I just formatted cache/cleared Dalvik cache and flashed this over MIUI .21. :D
 
Back to my backup (.21). My extended battery was going fast and phone never slept. Cpu Spy reported half 1250 and half 300 mhz. I suspect it was incompatible apps like Widget Locker. Also Rom Manager was FC'ing. I'll try it again when it's a little more mature. :D
