Help Esteem-I have one extra for full TESTING (roms, ICS, CM7, Recovery, etc)

Apparently I messed up the boot.img.

It won't boot passed my custom boot screen. Hard resets (vol up/down and power) doesn't do anything. My computer wont read the phone. I can't even unroot the thing.

How did you install the boot.img?

Can you reinstall the boot.img?

Did you keep the same name for the boot img as the stock with your replacement. so all it does is change the animation but still reads as if the 'original' file was never changed?

The boot.img and boot animation are 2 different things.

boot.img = boot header + Linux kernel + ramdisk/rootfs

People are changing the boot animation zip file in system>media thats also what the boot animation apps do too.

The reason everyone is having problems is because the stock rom is set to a different format for the images then AOSP it has no idea what to do with it so it just keeps trying to play it over and over,

Also like Nuttmeg said the stock boot animation is actually kinda cool compared to past stock ones.

the metro boot was ok. but i had supermario animation which worked perfectly. and dumb me changed to stick fighters which gave me a quick brick. =[
