Bought the LG Esteem this morning. The Ascend has been a little trooper thru all the flashing and modding I did to it, I even attempted to brick it on purpose by flashing roms for HTC, LG and other phones but the little guy just wouldnt die.

For any newbies to the Ascend forum, this is the best most helpful forum on this site. Not only will people answer your questions and not be an ass about it but some if not most will actually test things that you arent to sure of or havent heard of.

To all the great people in this forum and all the great helpers, Nutmegg (Im joining you over in Esteem bro!) Koolio, Scur, Gmash, Kevin, Iriv, and theres a couple others and especially last but not least The man, the legend PlayFulGod, I thank you all for all the fun, the testing, the figuring out, and of course for PG the building of CM7.

I'll still be around and will still probably be on this forum alot, even tho Ill be playing with this beast of a phone they call the Esteem, but since Ive been here for 5 months or so I figured I'd give thanks to the wonderful people here and a "official" farewell to the community and my paper weight.....I mean Ascend. ;):cool:
 
Congrats brother!!!;):D:cool::) i know you was like me when you got it, you cant put it down huh? lolz welcome to the esteem world, now wait 2 days after playing with it, than pick up your ascend, you will ask yourself how in the world did i type on this thing, it's so small? than you will really see how slow it run's even when its OC you will notice.
 
Dude this mofo is a beaaast. And havent lost 4G once and Ive driven all over town. You open the facebook app and bam the newsfeed is there and loaded before the app completely loads. When I walked into the store this morning, the owner the same guy I talked to yesterday, was all "Cant wiat can you?" I was like nope hook it up Ahaha He smiled and looked over at another customer who was looking at the Esteem, looked back at me walked in the back came back out and I ended up getting the last one he had in stock Ahaha I havent been able to put it down at all Ahaha Im just opening apps just to open them ahaha The owner was cool as shit tho. hooked me up with screen protectors and case for 10 bucks, and he with out me even asking or anything filled out my entire rebate form with the copies you need, not including my name and address and even put it in a damn envelope addressed to the address I have to send it to. I havent even LOOKED at my Ascend, matter of fact I dont think it even made it out of the truck into the house ahaha


I will say this tho I miss my track ball already ahaha Until now I didnt realize how much I really used it
 
Good deal man!! I'm sure you will have a ball with the new phone!! One of these days I'll upgrade myself, but won't be this year... I've also tried to brick my ascend, no go... loaded up the Android 2.3.7 - CM 7 – Huawei U8120 – Anryl ROM and it actually ram pretty good... however many things did not work, WIFI for example... but thats because of the different hardware in the M860 and the U8120...

+1 w/the trackball.One way I've dealt w/o having it is to use the "PINCH TO ZOOM" feature on my MO PHO to enlarge the size of text & select the text that you want to highlight, link, etc...
T-MOBILE has a couple of 4G phones that have a D-pad or trackball,other than that, most are moving away from it or have stopped using them altogether.Wish more manufacturers would bring the D-PAD or trackball back.
 
pinch to zoom is an awesome feature thats on the esteem, and the deal i got when i got my phone was pick any 3 items for $20 so i got a case with stand, bluetooth, and car charger, i order screen protector off the net from ebay, 5 protector for $3 and free shipping. ;)

I haven't needed it but I downloaded the unroot and the stock app restorer too just to have for quick access.
Oh and the one click "redone" by Final. But I just used the original with no problem.
 
so i got the admire yesterdAY not a big big upgrade way better for me so far than the ascend i was driving and stop at stoplight then pick up my phone to send an important text and it reboots i swear threw the phone to back of the car and drove to the metropcs store i couldnt take it no more so i just no longer ascender thank god no more lol the phone still in the car :D:o:o

im getting esteem maybe in march ima play with the admire a bit..

nice and you know about cm7 is being ported over for the admire, it's just minor bugs that needs to be work out. :cool:
 
Sooner or later everybody's got to get another phone. My Ascend is about to be retired, as soon as I can either get MetroPCS to stop being bitches about my recently acquired used HTC Droid Incredible, which has already been Metroflashed previously, or I get sick of them and have it flashed to Cricket since they cover nationwide now. If the Esteem is anything like my Inc, then you'll find yourself very quickly saying "How did I ever live with this laggy thing?" I'm saying that now, even though I don't yet have service on my Inc!

it shouldnt be no problems change esn to another carrier, and your 3g will work since it is a 3g compatible phone.

nice, i wonder how many brick phone will there be once he release it, but good thing is a recover is built for it, so it will be easy to flash back to stock like the ascend. ;)

My apologies for continuing the drift off-topic,but,I had to add my 2¢ on the SPB SHELL 3-D LAUNCHER. I just found out about this beast of a launcher & happily plunked down the $14.95 for it.
Check out the YOUTUBE video demonstration that is linked to it in the ANDROID MARKET & you'll see for yourself.
I doubt if it's suited/compatible for the ASCEND,fairly intensive graphics are probably too much for the processor to handle.
I have this running on my MO PHO & it is AWESOME,to say the least.

just purchase the SPB SHELL 3D and im blown away by it, my new toy well app...:D
