Read last night that it may be going out again, so I turned on my deactivated Incredible - connected to wifi, also cell radio is on. System update came in a few minutes ago.

Mine was updated today as well. Took about 18 minutes to do the entire update. The eye was on the screen for over 5 minutes with no movement. The upgrade worked fine.

What did not work fine was that I had not moved all my apps to the phone so now all the apps on the SD card are unreachable. Also the "Low on Space" notification came up immediately at the upgrade. I guess it is time to start digging through the trouble threads to get back my apps and remove this LOS message.

The update was waiting for me this morning. I held off installing until I had a chance to come here and see what problems people were having. I guess I can assume that my root will be lost with the update? Rooting this thing the first time was such a pain. What is the easiest root method on the streets now?

Thanks!

Alright, it went through. I also pulled my apps off the SD card a while back and simply forgot, so I should have all or most of them. I really like the quick boot feature, but miss the "Vibrate" option on the shut down menu.

Had my update waiting for me this morning. Updated with no problem. Sat on the eye for about 4 minutes, but it eventually started up. Now what? What's different? Doesn't look any different to me. Thanks.

I saw the article posted on androidcentral.com last night, went to my phone and saw no update, I went to the menu about phone and clicked for update, YES, it came up, so I guess that button does work after all, huh? :D

It took about 15/20 mins to download, rebooted took another 5 mins, then I got the normal boot up and it got stuck on the eyeball, I let it stay for about 4 mins and then decided to take out the battery, then it rebooted and everything came back as normal.

Yes it says Sprint in Marketplace and yes under display settings it says I have a 4.3 display. Oh well.

Guys/Girls, If I were you...I would leave all your apps on your phone, just in case Verizon sends another update to fix this. I plan to do that for awhile just in case they send another update.

So far I really like Gingerbread, everything seems faster, will have to report back on battery life. Alot of the screens are different, I like some of the cool annimations they added on some of the menu screens.

I noticed some new features, under sound settings, there is a "Pocket Mode" option that will increase the volume while the phone is in ur pocket or bag. Also a new one called "Flip for Speaker" says: Turn over your phone to activate the speaker during calls. I never seen those 2 before, could be more too. :) There are also new ring tones.

Another thing I like is how when you change apps or go from one app to another it, or when you close your browser to go back to your home page, it ever so slightly flows (can't think of the word I'm trying to say but it flows nicely, like it fades slowly back in.

Next, I am planning to see if my bluetooth works in my car like before.

...virgin incredible, never been rooted but has been touched (on screen)...:)

Ahh, Gingerbread for the holidays! Congratulations, everyone.

I have the same LOS message too. Let me know what you do to remove it.

okay i got the OTA update last night....started to install but had to cancel....now the OTA update is gone and my phone is saying my system is up to date.

is there any other way to get the update again???

Hmmm... it downloads OK, but my update fails and I get the Red Triangle and Exclamation point. Going to the boot menu even says that the update fails. It reboots fine afterwards though.

My phone was factory reset about 2 months ago and has nothing weird going on at the moment. Guess I'll try again.

Weird. I go into the Verizon store yesterday (11/14) and almost got the Rezound, but something held me back and I am so happy that I did.

1) Verizon changed their return policy for phones bought between 11/15 and 1/9
2) My Dinc updates the next morning!

Woke up this morning and the OTA update was there. Install took ~15 minutes, took awhile at the eye, and then it finished a few minutes later. Everything looks fine sofar, noticed a couple of changes but haven't had time to play around with it.

It only took about 10 minutes overall, and I don't see much change yet.

I'm just happy to have my phone for about a year and a half, and I'm still happy with it. That's a first!

1868,

Using the phone software only, I unmounted the SD card and remounted the card. This brought back all my applications that were on the SD card as well as eliminating the LOS message.

I understand why this process brought back my applications that were on the SD Card (i.e., the SD card was not being mounted before the OS) but I do not quite understand why this process eliminated the LOS message. Well who am I to question good fortune and unexplained blessings? LOL

Fast boot is awesome. Wow. Still playing with it finding little changes here and there. One last surge of life before I replace 'er tomorrow with the ReZound...I wish I'd gotten GB earlier! (we all do!)

Recieved update this morning. Haven't played with it much to see changes in features or performance. App os SD card didn't work and had generic icons on screens. Did the unmount/mount for SD in the settings and apps are working. Custom icons have returned for the apps on the home screens. However, I have a folder labeled "Games" on my home screen for all my games. The icons inside it are still the generic ones. The apps work, but all icons look the same now. Anyone have any ideas on how to get these custom icons back?

EDIT: Did shut down and restart after SD unmount/mount and custom icons are back in the "Games" folder. All is well. Boots faster now. Seems a little snappier.

Has anyone started a list of changes/added features?

Wife & I just got the update today too on our phones.
Now there are apps on my phone that I can't use.
So what's the fix? Reinstall apps?

Received the update this morning as well. So far everything is normal....except having to re-install ring tone which was no big deal.

I'll let you know on battery usage, etc on my completely stock Inc -other than it being dropped in the swimming pool 6-7 months ago, which made the flash inoperable

Gingerbread update was available this morning on my virgin, unrooted Droid Incredible. Accepted OTA update, let it finish and as expected Marketplace thought this was a Sprint phone and Settings>Hardware Info thought I had a 4.3-inch display. Contacted Verizon support at *611, the tech walked me through the traditional power-off, battery-pull and reboot routine after I changed to a different phone so that I could talk while working with the Verizon phone. The tech had me confirm the Marketplace issue, so we went through a "*228 selection 1" process which updated the Verizon data on the phone (I guess). Marketplace no longer thinks this is a Sprint phone, but the 4.3-inch display issue remains. The tech offered to call HTC while I was on the phone - I declined. The tech said he would send a bug report upstream to HTC so they would be aware of it. BTW, missing apps from SD card were restored with a simple Unmount & Remount of the SD card. EDIT: I was wrong; Marketplace still thinks this is a Sprint phone. Guess I'll be waiting for the update to the update :/

That issue will be fixed in a day or 2 when verizon puts out the fix for this OTA. They already have the documentation for it on their website. They just aren't telling anybody (including their techs) that the plan is to push the broken OTA to everybody and then push out the fix in a second OTA.

Oh, and I haven't heard anybody actually have a problem because the hardware info has the wrong screen size.

Guess what showed up this morning... Yup 2.3.4

Guess what is missing after an easy easy download/restart/reboot now working.

Yup, none of my apps on the sd card. Can anyone point me to the easy answer to how to get the phone to know they are on the SD card?

edit; I did unmount the sd card then remount. Nothing
I unmounted the sd card then rebooted the phone. Nothing
