Root GB rooted odin file messes up market.

panic.exe

Newbie
so i see that my phone has an update available so i hit the forums and see its already rooted etc etc. i downloaded the rooted version of GB for odin and it flashed perfectly and seemed to be working fine (coming from shabbymod). i downloaded an app on the old version of the market before it updated which worked. but then after a while (when the market is updated etc) i get an authentication error about google talk that pops up after that when i try to download apps from the market it pops up an error i did some googling and found a thread that said to clear dvrik and do fix permissions in cwm which worked i could agian use the market as normal except my home button stopped functioing tried reflashing several times same problem with authentication. any idea's?

*EDIT* i just tried using the stock GB aswell and i still getting the error message:
"google talk failed to login, if this is a google apps account, confirm that Chat service is enable for this account" whenever trying to download anything from the market i get the message:
" "app name here" could not be downloaded due to an error"

You could try doing a factory reset in the recovery menu. Stock recovery will make sure it's rfs, as well as trying this if you have CWM:

rfscache.zip
dt_a2sd_prevail.zip

install the rfscache.zip in cwm and reboot. that may be your download error. cm7 makes everything ext4 and odin doesn't fix cache.

then wipe data in cwm.

then mod/theme how you like and when you're all set up install the a2sd zip in cwm.

and always keep your backups. as many as you can.

doesn't fix the problem :-\ however i do have a working market ( the old version) right now as it hasen't updated yet :-(

*edit* hmm well ive updated the market and all seems well now randomly so far lets hope it stays that way and was just something on the google servers side :)

:< well i just got the google talk auth failed thing and the market has stopped working agian....

Here's something to try. In settings, applications, manage applications, all...select google services framework, stop it, clear data, reboot. In fact you can clear data for all things with google in them but I believe framework is the culprit.

nope, didn't help.. i wonder what would be causing an authentication failure?

*edit* hmm after clearing the framework then rebooting my phone caused another issue now when i open the market im getting "Server error: Retry" :sigh:

*edit 2* okay so i got the market back and its letting me download apps for now but i fear its going to keep doing this, is noone else having issue with it?

Yes, others including myself are having these issues. Unfortunately, I don't know much about this stuff, so I'll be sitting back waiting for an answer.

well that's probably a good thing cause it means its on googles end as it happens on stock GB aswell as the root so we can rule out the root as the cause.

the problem is that you didnt wait for the device to "set up" after adding your google account info. you need to let it sit there (hopefully on wifi) for 5-10 min while it syncs, updates the market, auths to talk, etc.

i spent the better part of 4 hours updating my phone, restoring it, reflashing it, etc before I figured this out.

it appeared to be an error on googles end as i woke up today and everything is working as normal :)

All you have to do is clear the cache/data on the Google Services Framework and that takes care of it. I had this problem on both of my prevails after doing the upgrades. Also if there's an issue texting like I had, it kept dropping the area code on one contact, just make sure the number is correct and if so clear the dialer data and dialer storage data.
