So if I didn't want to wait for VZW and wanted to get the GSM version of the phone for retail and use it on T-Mobile...is there a version available yet that I could use on T-Mobile's US network? Are are the European/UK versions not compatible?

T-Mobile's dirt cheap value plans make me think just paying retail for the GSM version is the better option.

Oh, and another thing:

(I'm so excited still that I forgot some details)

He said that the phone was still in testing (which corroborates Steven's source), and that he had read somewhere that it was going to release on the 21st.

His words were something like "I did look for some information regarding your email request before calling you, and I saw the 21st as a date. I can't guarantee that because a lot depends on what the testing reveals, but I did see that date."

han, what is the email address you wrote to?

i wouldn't mind writing him just to get a $50 discount on my account for the SGN

It wasn't a specific address that I emailed to, it was on the vzw site under "leadership" or something like that.

YAY! Does that mean you'll be sticking around with us for the duration? I've said it before, people can gripe about Verizon all they want, but in my experience, if you approach them in a reasonable manner, with a valid complaint, and make a reasonable request for a solution, they will, 99.9% of the time, do their level best to do right by their customers. Don't get me wrong, I've had bad customer service from Verizon before, but customer service isn't just about never doing anything wrong...it's also about how you handle yourself after you've screwed up.

Yep. Now that I can put my almost dead Droid to sleep, I'm good for the duration.

Sure sounds like a bad, evil, immoral company with a total a-hole talking to you:cool:

I totally stand corrected, Durangojim. I don't like crow, but I'll eat it on this one.

Steven's source was a little confusing. Talking of the possibility of a 21st release, but saying the testing reports weren't due until that Monday (which would be the 21st) which later somehow morphed into the 28th. Anyone else find that hard to follow (or did I just read it too fast)? Regardless, it looks like the 28th is the earliest we'll see this beast. What to do until then...? I have developed a new hobby: tweeting Verizon clever ways of telling Verizon to release the Nexus. I know it won't do anything, but it helps me feel like I'm working towards something...:)

Yes it was confusing. Basically saying that there is a delay. Software has been updated. Testing usually takes 5+ days. Assuming that there are no other software issues/updates to be made it MAY release at that time. The source doesn't know. He's guessing like everyone else, based on the most recent delay news.

Hey ladies and gentlemen, I sent an email earlier to the Vice President of National Customer service, got an email back asking for my cell number, just got a call back. Here are the main points:

1. He says that he is not aware of a specific launch date, and that even in his department they don't know until a day or two ahead of time, but that they would definitely want to start selling it before Black Friday.

2. I told him that I was disappointed in the lack of info and that I was either considering going to AT&T or "renting" an HTC device (yeah, I said it.) He replied that he would appreciate it if I didn't do that, and that he would be more than happy to send me another phone that I could return once the SGN came out "which wouldn't be very long at all, maybe a week or two at the most".

3. He reset my return/exchange grace period and I can now take advantage of the extended holiday return period in case I don't like the Nexus (ha!)

4. He applied another $50 loyalty discount to my account.

5. I'm getting a "like new" DINC2 tomorrow via FedEx to hold me over.

Guys, I know that I will sound like a total windsock, but Verizon really impressed me today.

My hope is renewed, my hope is renewed!!!

Glad to hear it, welcome back to the positive side of things!

Guys, I can't believe how good I feel. This thing could come out December 31 and I wouldn't mind!

Yes, I was wrong. Verizon is not immoral, and they're not Dbags, and I love them!!

I don't care if I sound like a whiny little Windsock! I want the whole world to know!!

I think I'm going to change my avatar to this:

Glad to hear the Source was on point though. Seems like internally they are hoping for a 21st release, but 28th is a fallback release date? Just a thought.

I know a guy who could find out for sure ;)

Well, what are you waiting for?

I still go back to this.. Verizon Roadmap Shows Nov. 21 for Galaxy Nexus, Nov. 30 for XOOM 2 from page one.

Do anyone know the status of release for the Curve and the Illusion?

It doesn't matter. When that was created, they could not have known about the current software "issue" (BS). It is all just up in the air, whenever VZW decides to throw it out there, at this point. Presuming devices are received in the next day or two (per previous leaks), the only thing holding it back from being sold is VZW deciding to do it.

Congrats Han. This is why I won't ever leave Verizon, sure their CSRs may be completely clueless about a lot of things regarding phone launches, but their customer service as a whole has always done right by me in every way.

how can it still be in testing but releasing in 5 days? and how do they push software updates at this point (the presumption that they are sitting in a warehouse somewhere)?

man after the incredible thread experience, I swore I would never waste this much time again following phone rumors.... but..... I...... apparently..... am.....

I forget who posted it on Twitter, but didn't somebody who is known to have the Verizon version (either Panda or P3) say something the other day like "I just got an OTA/Kernel update on the Gnex. Wonder what that was all about?"

I forget if that was Monday or yesterday, the days are all kind of blending at this point, haha. But if the update went through then and it takes 5 days to test the update, that would leave us right at the 21st.

Ok - my turn - in the last 20 minutes of my workday I need to get SOMETHING done, then I have to drive home and do family stuffs. I am closing the browser and will NOT check the app. Please PM me if anything HUGE explodes in the next couple hours. Please? Appreciated. Thanks!

That's true, I forgot about that tweet from P3Droid. He got an update the 14th or 15th (can't remember either) about getting an OTA on the Nexus.

5 days of testing + any fixes could land us on the 21st and an OTA when we get the phones powered on for the first time.

Good catch.

hey han could you please pm me that email add. i just got off the phone with a customer care supervisor and it was a total nightmare. my bionic sucks and they want to mail me a 4th one and I said what about something along the same line as the bionic and they said only a thunderbolt and i said no way and i paid full retail for the bionic and she said well i see you have an upgrade now you can use that. so her idea was for me to spend another 300 or a total of almost 1k in 2 months to get a phone that works. oh and the kicker she said someone called me back and left a vm last nite and i said funny im pretty sure you need data coverage to get those.

But if the update went through then and it takes 5 days to test the update, that would leave us right at the 21st.

But 5 days probably means 5 business days. So that's more like 11/23 ;)

*edit* But if P3 got the OTA pushed on 11/14, that would jive with 11/21 in terms of 5 business days, so who knows...

Han... first he said that they don't tell him the release date until a day or two before. Then he later tells you that he read something about the 21st? He sounds like he is speaking with a forked tongue.

Good point. I guess that's why it seems like all these sources are basically saying Verizon wishes they could do it the 21st but it might not be ready to ship by then
