Time to de-lurk, I suppose.
I am a happy owner of a Samsung Fascinate. When I say "happy" I mean it: my phone still feels new to me after more than a year (thanks to CyanogenMod), and I was fully prepared to finish out my two years. Then, out of the blue, Verizon informed me I was eligible for an early upgrade (I got in before those were discontinued, apparently). So now suddenly I desperately need the Galaxy Nexus, even though there is really nothing wrong with my Fascinate. I'm actually going to be sorry to retire it.
It's funny... I've been saying ever since the ICS event that I'm in no hurry for the Nexus, and yet I've gotten hooked on this INSANE forum. Mainly just because I think the whole business of leaks and rumors and sleuthing for clues is loads of fun. I went through the same thing waiting for the Fascinate, and it was pretty much exactly like this. I was truly obsessive then, making charts of rumored dates and deriving my own predictions.
I think I've figured out what's going on with Verizon. Consider all of the reports of Verizon insiders all saying "this is what I've heard," but somehow NONE of them are actually involved in the decision. My conclusion: nobody is actually making the decision, because they all think someone else is.
I picture some high-level meeting happening right about now:
"So, there's a lot of interest in the Galaxy Nexus. Have you decided on a release date?"
"Huh? I thought you were deciding."
"No way, I thought *you* were deciding!"
Hey, it fits the facts.
I'm off work today, enjoying a cup of coffee at Barnes and Noble. Considering walking over to the Verizon store just for grins. Maybe if I tell them that the consensus is a Monday release, they'll go along with it.
