My thoughts exactly. I didn't even fill up half of my Thunderbolt's 32 GB SD card and with Google Music the only thing I really need to worry about taking up space is apps... I could probably even go for an 8 GB model lol.

Be careful.

2 years ago I thought the OG Droid's memory for apps would be plenty too. App's were like 1-2 megs on average at the time and I should have room for hundreds I figured.

Yeah not so much. I've been struggling to keep space free for about a year now.

Who knows what we'll be doing on phones 2 years from now.

Just saying, I don't mind a few laughs here and there but for a second I actually thought you were serious with that post and I got just a tad excited :P I guess I'm just overreacting and trying to be a mod lol.

My apologies. Just trying to lighten the mood, even a little bit. It is amazing the way VZW is totally BOTCHING this thing in every way possible......... :(

Well the problem with that is data caps. If you have a bunch of music you listen to on your phone, it makes no sense to stream it, using all your data for something that could be local. 16 Gigs is a fair amount, but if you don't want to have to pick and choose what music from your library you want and have to keep interchanging it all the time, then 16Gb is not a whole lot to be honest. If Verizon brings back the unlimited data option however, then hell, I probably wouldn't need more than 4 gigs either! Alas, that is not the case, and those of us who have lost the unlimited plan would rather not waste the data on things that shouldn't have to eat into the data cap

That's fair, but services like google music allow you to pull data locally when you are out of service area. If you use WIFI as a strategy to move your music then you should be able to get by with minimal OTA data pulls... still some inconvenience but definitely doable.

Been away from this thread today thus out of the loop. But I did manage to snag a quick look shortly before getting off and learn there is another release date and what could be more disturbing... only a 16gig Gnex for the US!?

I SERIOUSLY hope this is a typo on the official page... :(

EDIT: If this is NOT a typo and all we get is the 16gig version then I truly feel like I have been slapped in the face. Why? Because 16gig is not the phone I was promised or waiting for. 32gig I was :(

Really hope thats a typo

Can someone give me the email address of one of those higher ups at Verizon? Or just that generic email address for the Leaderhship board, or whatever?

I want to email them (politely) explaining that this fiasco has lost the opportunity to earn 2 customers from AT&T. My friend and I both decided to buy the International version when we still had not heard a date today. This is a US Based Operating System's flagship phone, yet the UK gets it first? And Canada has a pre-order date and we don't? I just can't respect a company that behaves that way, nor can I give them my business. I'm sure they won't care, but I want to respectfully point out that they should consider doing things differently in the future.

Good post. The problem is that I would bet around 3/4 of this thread would just go with the RAZR or Rezound if this turned into another Bionic. Because of the network. Verizon executives know this too.

Unfortunately I'm probably one of those 3 out of 4. I live in a city with a quarter million people in it and AT&T still can't get HSPA fully rolled out here. Meanwhile, VZW has the city blanketed in LTE.

It's basically a monopoly if I want fast data speeds. I would love to have a choice, but I don't.

Hey this thread has slowed down mega....we gotta step this back up or no way we hittin' 40k before midnight!!

Ok, is it worth me going back and reading the past 50 pages or so that I've missed since 6 o'clock eastern? Did I miss anything? Where I last left off people were freaking out because something was wrong with the two VZW apps.

I don't see why you would need a ROM, my 8 yr old is using my wife's old Eris as a iPod type devide. It's rooted w/ stock and works great. It's perfect for him because he has a camera, video camera, and music player all in one. He takes it everywhere. I even got him some cheapy speakers from Amazon so he can play his music for his friends. Maybe becusee of the Sense it is easier to use w/out a ROM? Otherwise I don't think you need anything special. My 10 yr old has already claimed my DINC for the same use. He asks me everyday if my new phone is out yet??

I lost ny thunderbolt and got an asurion replacment but 5days later my lost bolt showed up so I threw a 32gb card plugged it in my car and now its a dedicated music player . Battery lasts 4+ days with this use .
Did the same with ny eris when I got my incredible. Nice to have a extra WiFi music device
