***Official Galaxy Nexus Pre-Release speculation thread**

Starting the morning off venting my frustration to VZW on twitter by RT BMX and a few of my own. Not how I planned on starting the weekend but enough is enough. Seriously considering importing a true Nexus from UK and taking over an unlimited data plan on AT&T or going go Phone style. I consume far more data on my iPad which has unlimited data.

I think there is a very good chance you will want to buy it. I could not be more impressed with mine so far. I am still concerned about the battery life and am evaluating the phone primarily on that basis.

A lot of people have been giving the Rezound pretty favorable battery life reviews. Surprising as HTC hasn't really been known for that and the rather small battery, but seems they worked a little voodoo magic.

I can't image that bloat is holding up the launch. VZW installs bloat in OTA updates all the time. Why would this be different now? Couldn't VZW just do an update to add the blaot if they wanted to?

Not placing the blame all on Verizon.. there are screw ups on both sides.. but I wont share our dirty laundry.. now I am done. See ya!!

STOP!
The "crapware" is TWO MEASLY APPS! And they're actually somewhat useful! You can disable them if you REALLY can't stand them...
Jeez this whole bloatware argument is really pissing me off, be glad they didn't put Blockbuster or Lets Golf 2 on it >_>

Calm down Scott. If the rumors be true that this latest delay is because of their added applications conflicting with the OS then I'd say its a pretty big deal. And there really may be cause for concern about this Nexus receiving timely updates if VZW is already exerting this much control over the device.

Sorry man, I feel like every comment I've posted this morning has been in response to you. So I apologize if it appears that way; its not my intent. I'm not trying to corner you and start arguments. I know we're both restless and frustrated with the situation.

one edit...

...as we refer to it, would only incur in additional costs for your company...
Should this say... "result in"? I'm an engineer, so, grammar isn't my forte, but, just doesn't read smoothly to me. Maybe drop the "in"???

...now, can you write one for those of us looking to switch to VZW from other carriers, but, waiting until this phone is released to do so?

Oh, I also like the threat at the end. As someone else mentioned, if we're not going to hit them in the pocket book somehow, they have no incentive to reply. I am on board with the "rental" program. I would even go as far as to set up a thread here, or, a facebook page for "I'm renting while I wait..." and send them the link so that they can see exactly how many people are intentionally screwing them over.

...one more ..."oh"... Han, you're an attorney, have you read the extended return policy? Are we safe to rent away? Honestly, I haven't REALLY considered that option until now, so, I haven't looked at it too closely.

I'd be happy with 16 for $299.

I wouldnt. A general price point has been set on devices with 16 and 32 GB. If they try selling the 16 at 299 I won't be getting this phone based on principle alone. This is coming from a guy on an OG Droid who loves gadgets and fell in love with the nexus.

Time to wait for some official release info from big red.

Regardless if it's "TWO MEASLY APPS" this is a Nexus device...

Google Nexus - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A nexus device is "where the phones come free of carrier or manufacturer modifications".

It really doesn't matter how small or useful those modifications may be.

So is this forum :(

I've got a gift for everyone this morning:

$299 for 16 and $399 for 32? Would you pay $399? I would.

ICS USB hosting... yup, i'd take 16gb. Only thing I would keep on my mobile device would be applications. All my photos and videos sync immediately to G+. All my music is in the cloud. I'll put my movies on some form of usb storage because the only time I'll be watching movies with the device would possibly be on a plane.

Good morning my disillusioned friends. I am going to be cautiously optimistic for a monday release in some way, shape or form but in my heart and gut I just don't feel it.
That being said, I have to go put some time in at work today to try to catch up on what I didn't do this week (which was quite a bit).
I will check in as frequently as possible.

PS - Ben & Jerrys Late Night Snack ice cream is really really good IMHO (I had it last night after shopping)

The difference between European and Verizon release, is that Verizon does a lot more extensive testing. Probably the most thorough testing of any carrier. That's supposed to give the customers quality products, but it does also increase time to market.

Problems cropping up with the UK release should be addressed, although we are going to have to wait for it. So pick your poison.

You're right. The "in" should be dropped. I'll fix it.

As for the return policy, it looks solid to me, and the VP told me I would have the entire extended period to exchange my activated device for a different phone.

BUT, if anyone is going to do it, I would strongly suggest asking specifically at the store and then have them note it on your account. Just in case.

Morning BB.

Sigh. Woke up to a Verizon Wireless e-mail wanting me to buy a new smart phone and save on data. Well I will, but when you release the Galaxy Nexus. Won't be getting my money before that.

Agreed, it does sound like a threat. The question is, do we want to threaten them?

I'm not married to any of it. If you guys want to edit it, go ahead, but I suggest you post it on here, and then we decide which to go with.

I think the best bet would be to send the identical letter, so they know we're unified on this.

But like I said, those are just suggestions.

IMO.... I dont think there should be an ultimatum.
