I just got off the phone with "Yathrib from the Executive Office of Verizon". It was a return call about the e-mails I had sent to John Bianchi (Vice President - National Customer Service). I don't know how Han got so lucky because I wasn't able to get anything out of the call.
1. I was told to wait. I could purchase a refurb phone or borrow one from a friend, but they were unwilling to do anything to help make the waiting easier.
2. It was my own fault that I was paying for a data plan that was not of much use on my current phone. I could have upgraded at any time (and be forced to wait that much longer for what I really wanted).
3. I would never be happy because there will always be some better thing right around the corner.
As far as the release of the Nexus goes, she went so far as to say that Verizon couldn't announce the phone because until there is an official announcement they don't even really know for sure that they WILL be getting the phone. When I pointed out that there had already been an official announcement from Verizon on that point, she kind of side-stepped. She did that a lot actually. I didn't get a clear response on the return policy either. I tried to point out that the return policy on their website did not jive with the CSR I had talked to saying that it was only on unactivated phones. I probably could have pushed harder, but I was trying to hold my tongue and keep the tone pleasant.
I have her phone number that she said I could call with any questions, but considering she didn't really answer any of the ones I asked today, I probably won't bother.
I just remembered though that she did at least promise to text me when the phone was released. I have a feeling I will know about it before her though (from reading this forum).
So i ninja steven about the storage and he gets all the thanks, lame.

Steven, you are always helpful, so do you have any thoughts on purchasing a phone through best buy? They have no restocking fee, so why aren't more people purchasing their "rentals" through best buy instead of verizon?

ICS with buttons = *facepalm*
You can return it through January 15, 2012. Source: Return Policy & Termination Fee | Verizon Wireless
And yeah, there's a $35 restocking fee unless you have problems with the phone. Yeah, you can immediately get a Nexus, that's the point.
Whoa, hold up. Last time I checked, the extended holiday return policy only applied to non-activated devices. Once you activate the phone, you have the standard 14 days to return it. The clause "All other provisions of Verizon WirelessNot to worry, you have until 1/15/2012 to return it for the Nexus.

Here's a scenario....Best buy doesn't offer the Gnex at launch and you're stuck trying to get your upgrade restored.
How late do you plan on staying up? I'm on PST, can you PM me if you are up past 12AM PST?
My plan is to return the razr after 10 days and go back to a flip phone until the nexus comes out. Why wouldn't my upgrade be restored once I return it?
Just a guess, but wouldn't Verizon throw up their Black Friday add in place of the 4 day sale? Seems more likely than the Nexus release.
Let him have his hope. The world outside high school will thoroughly smoosh that soon enough
Now another thing however, if it is still in testing, how can they even say "by year end?" IF they don't want to put out a date only to push it back when things don't go as expected, why even say, "by year end?" Personally, I think they can say "by year end" because there isn't anything technically holding it back and it is that they want the R phones to have their time to shine.
Anyone have a comment on the best buy thing?
I can't figure out why so many are renting phones directly from verizon when you can do it with best buy with no restocking fee. What am I missing? I'm all dressed and ready to go to best buy, but want to make sure I'm not about to make a mistake.
So nobody thinks the best buy ad is just wrong? I mean it's called the galaxy nexus, it's even on Verizon's and Google's sites. The "rumored" name for it was Nexus Prime, what's to say they put that in as a filler (same for the date) until they had something official.... I don't know, I'm not believing the Best Buy ad... And am just going to wait until we have something from Verizon about the Galaxy Nexus.
Also - 32 gb news is awesome! With photos and apps and hd videos I can see myself using quite a bit on it. Especially with such an awesome camera.
Rob - Thank you for your help, I don't expect anything from Verizon but seriously appreciate you stepping in and being an awesome host (for all us crazies). Keep up the great work! And you make me proud to be an androidforums.com member.![]()
