***Official Galaxy Nexus Pre-Release speculation thread**

Hey guys, remember a week or so ago we came across that the number 5801 is the device identifier number for the Nexus on the VZW site, and that it had one universal accessory listed as compatible? Well, a couple of more accessories popped up for it.

Verizon Wireless Search Results

Also, if you had clicked on the one accessory that it was listed for and scrolled down the Compatible Devices list, you would see the Galaxy Nexus listed with a picture of the Droid Charge. The IMG link it was linked to was also the Droid Charge image that is used all over the site. Now however, if you click on any of the accessories and scroll down the Compatible Devices list, you will see there is a missing image, and the URL links to here:

http://cache.vzw.com/images_b2c/phones/mini/sam__nexus.png

No image yet though.

Basically, the placeholder for the Nexus on the site is being updated. :-)

Has anyone seen the train ad on any recent refreshes? Seems they may have already made it disappear.

i refreshed it twice. the first time I got the nexus ad. the 2nd time I got a new verizon ad for the Samsung Stratosphere with the same pricing from the Nexus ad.. which makes it seem even more legit.

Thx I keep the SelectedPhoneId=5801 page up and on auto-refresh. Sad I know.:o

This is a gigantic screw-up methinks. I think someone ran the wrong ad that they were meaning to run if a BF release happened. Hope I'm wrong, but I seriously doubt it.

I'm printing this ad and taking it to a vzw store tomorrow and asking for the phone.

Also, Han I have a question for u b/c ur a lawyer: If they wont give it to me can I sue them for false advertising or something?

They do list Black Friday AND Holiday sales in the ad, so basically they've obligated themselves to nothing date wise, considering that from now until New Year's Eve is considered "the Holidays". We might seriously see this sucker for $199 (only for new activations as the ad said), but I doubt we'll be seeing it before the December 8th date considering the doublespeak present in the ad.

Just my opinion but just got off an online chat with a very friendly CSR named Kristopher. It took forever for him to connect seems like they were very busy but he was in no rush getting offline w/ me after I asked him if his ad was just a mean joke. We friendly chatted for a bit about the phone and the holidays but he did nothing to debunk any possible release whether it may be a silent release at first or a big to do just that they don't have it. I truly got the feeling something is up. Maybe not tomorrow or Monday but maybe they really are going to get this out in the next few weeks and feature it at $199 on a new contract....maybe they are having some guilt. Like I said though he was a very nice CSR and it isn't like a phone chat where you can pick up on the small things. For what it is worth.

Having been working with graphics and images for years there is just something VERY fishy about that whole train ad- the fonts as well as the photos of the actual phones. Verizon would not put low res fonts/graphics like that. But I do hope I am very, very wrong :).

Besides showing a super blurry image with the other two phones on UStream and Slacker? C'mon seriously?...

I don't think it looks unusual, but then I don't work with graphics of any sort, so I have to take your word on that, but what would you theorize it is if not a real VZW ad?

How come none of the phones in that train ad is available for the price it is advertising. Droid Charge for example...I can't seem to find a place to order it on VZN site for $99. Damn it I think I am making hope out of thin air!

Well thats just my .02, but if you want a real example take a look at the main vzw page right now and click on "see all deals" on the main page. Take a look at those graphics up top (http://specialoffers.verizonwireless.com/holiday/2011/) - thats quality corporate work. Real designers with somewhat professional experience, now take a look at that train ad again. I guess it might take a trained eye but I think a lot of people should catch on to it.

Then again, I so wish I am wrong! :D

I see your point, the VZW site is definitely flashier, but I just wonder who would pay for that ad besides VZW themselves.

Not quite sure what your asking- I'd be glad to answer if you can clarify. But now after really looking at that train ad more and more, I am feeling even more fishy about it. It definitely isn't real. But again, as with anything thats just my opinion- I could be totally wrong. I've been working with graphics for years and normally I'm good with this stuff- this really just has my doubts.

Anyways, Dec 8th here we come...
