Everybody giving up??? I was hoping to surprize everyone tomorrow!! Can you imagine waking up and needing a Nexus fix and loading up AF to see that not only the BB ad was released, but also that we broke 50k!!!!!

Me, I'll be exploring all the great apps that are simply non-existent in my BlackBerry 5.0 world. The only "for sure" I'm bringing over are Pandora and Aces Solitaire.

Gotta decide if I'm going to stick with Tether, or check out some of these other tethering apps that I've seen recommended here, or actually pay Verizon's hot spot fee (don't want them to cancel my unlimited data).

Also looking forward to playing with the beam function, since my wife will be getting a Nexus, too.
 
Here is something I've been chewing on for a while. Anyone else get really excited about the NFC possibilities that this could really bring mainstream?

You got me with that one. I didn't remember your post, so clicked back to see it was 100 pages ago on the 19th.

Pretty sure if any front-like rep knew anything solid, we would have a leak with a good photo to back it up. *sigh*

Lol, while amusing I wouldn't do that. First it'd take you a year, second some people seem to get weird where "thanks" are concerned...

As far as the BB ad goes, I'd bet real money its a screw up at BB.
 
I love the fact that we're all so excited that we're forgoing sleep to see this milestone. If any mod is looking over this and frowning upon something that is going on, I would as that you look at the circumstances around us staying up. We're all amped about the ad coming out and the possibility of the wait being over tomorrow. We're living out what I believe this forum is about, getting really excited over something we're all passionate about. Hope that works for anyone reading this tomorrow :D

It's going to come down to wider adoption. Maybe Google has the chops to pull this off. I can already walk in to any Peet's around here and they've got Google Wallet stickers on their doors, and NFC-enabled readers at their registers.

But I look back 6 years to a previous job where we were specing out a new parking control system, and I was pushing for RFID credit card readers (PayPass I think they're calling it now?). I thought it was going to be the "new thing." Our consultant said No, so we didn't go with it, and look where we are today -- practically no adoption of this standard in the US.
