first it was the vegas conferance that was going to have the NEXT big phone coming to Verizon.....and we got nothing....then it was...lets wait until Feb for MWC.....and we get nothing...i hope and pray that the guy who thinks the Incredible and Desire are the same phones because i want this phone. My work pays for my phone so I cant switch all I can do is sit and wait....as I have been doing since November...
I do know this..the Desire is a SEXY phone...WOW!!! I really want that phone....

I guess what's kicking my ass the most is trying to wrap my mind around the largest carrier in the US - Verizon - sitting back and watching everyone else get the sweet phones. I mean - SURELY they're not THAT stupid. Who gets to be #1 in their field while doing nothing?! They have GOT to be clearing out their stock of Droids and Erises with the whole BOGO program so that they can kick off something BIG in a month or two. The Devour sure as hell isn't the answer. They're aiming that phone at a whole younger demographic anyway. Also, I don't see VZW sitting around and have Google shove them in the back seat while they dictate the New World Order in selling phones online! Literally overnight, the Desire is THE most wanted phone out there, and it would appear that the rest of the world is already on board:

HTC Desire has been accepted by almost every key carrier in every key country – Android and Me

My mindset is that it'll come to the States, sooner or later, under some name or another. But come ON - HTC and the carriers don't give a rat's ass about how long we've been waiting. I could be way off base here, but HTC is probably in the process of putting the phone's technology to the highest bidder in this country. Whoever coughs up the most cash will get the phone and HTC will make it fit that carrier's requests, be it CDMA, GSM, whatever . It comes down to MONEY. It ALWAYS does!! Hell, globally, there were 174 MILLION smartphones sold in 2009 alone! That's 174,000,000! That's a FIFTEEN PERCENT INCREASE over 2008!!!!

Smartphone Sales Q4 2009: A Record-Breaking Quarter | In This Issue | Blackberry - RIM

So when the bottom line between HTC and the carriers is settled upon, then we'll get that phone. But not before. There's NO WAY that the US carriers will miss out on this cash cow! And the biggest kid on the block usually has the best chance of getting what they want.

Okay, Post to Verizon forum.....Hope someone important notices it.

This is exactly what I was hoping for!!! But I think I just have high hopes here. You know there has to be some actual internal Verizon people lurking on this forum and they still haven't done anything! so it probably isnt going to change anything

We know we are getting the Desire -- just a variant of it. Remember that ugly one with the red back? Yah, I tired to forget about it too. But let's not get sad guys, the Incredible is most likely the variant of the Desire. Yes, it does look ugly now, but look at the early black Bravo and how it transformed into this sexy piece of phone. Verizon, if you're listening (which I know you aren't), don't change the Desire. Make it look how it was meant to. And btw, I think that you guys are obsessing over capacative buttons....DON'T!

All of this complaining about VZW is quite annoying. This is The Incredible Thread, not complain about why you think VZW is a terrible carrier thread. I enjoy readingnew posts. I don't enjoy reading constant bitching.

^yeah. I've been in this place before.
-Phone doesn't come out-rage-complain to forums.
guess what, nothing changes.

I will wait for the nexus and maybe consider the incredible.
Seriously people, lets pull it together. You're making me ashamed of you.

(Oh, but Singer82, you crack me up though- "Aint that a kick in the face! :(")

there is a picture and a powerpoint over in the desire form it looks like one of the pics had the back spray painted red with the paint program (the battery compartment) and the powerpoint still called it the bravo.... with all the code names and leaked names going around like how we thought verizon was getting the desire and turned out to be the eris was pretty much done... wait bravo turned into the desire over in the uk, could the incredible code name not stick and it switches to bravo when it comes out and looks more like the desire? wow my head was starting to hurt keeping code names correct this is just a thought guys but i hope my thought turns into reality

hall-e-****ing-lujah. post of the week.

Well f*** me. Looks like I'll be moving to the UK, boys and girls. Coming in April (whoa, a carrier announcing a phone in advance immediately upon confirmation from a manufacturer...IMAGINE THAT) and for FREE, no less. F*** the US mobile market and it's has-been junk. I'm tired of US customers being treated like the red-headed stepchild (no offense if you're a red head and a stepchild).

HTC Incredible is a Verizon phone, therefore Verizon discussion!

I think the point was everyone is getting pissed at Verizon because they didn't deliver what the rumors and speculation said they would. As if Verizon is supposed to be an Android first, foremost and only company. Everyone is complaining that Verizon isn't getting this or that despite the fact this is a thread about one particular phone that IS coming to Verizon.

What do you mean exactly?

i dont really know i was just thinking that the powerpoint still refered to the phone as the htc bravo instead of the desire. was remembering back when the desire was thought to be the code name for the eris and now how it is actually the name for the what was code named bravo. was just wondering if htc is just re using code names to throw people off keep them talking and when it comes out we ask out selfs if this is .... then what was .... i dont know im just thinking probably nothing

But this phone has NOT been 100% confirmed either.

I see a few people got from my post that I was just really pissed and venting like...well...let's just leave it at that! We all have choices for sure. My family...and my wife's family are almost all on Verizon. For this reason it makes sense for me to want Verizon...and from all accounts they are a great carrier. But...I can stay on Sprint and wait. I don't have to take what they give...I can exercise my choice to stay put until someone gives me a reason to change.

I have really wanted a smart phone for a long time but didn't want to commit to a 2 year contract until I could get a phone that I really wanted. I thought that was the Droid...but when I put it in my hands it just felt disappointing. I'm sure it's quite capable...but I wanted a lighter phone. And yes...it is super frustrating to see other carriers...AT&T, TMobile and over seas carriers all getting the sweet phones. I only saw and did not actually hold an N1 and knew immediately that I would be happy. A gorgeous screen, nice size, and very attractive. Saw multitouch pinch zoom work flawlessly.

Of course I think the Desire is even more attractive...but that's just nitpicking. At this point I would be willing to stay with Sprint if they delivered something like the Desire...but would like to get to Verizon as it would be less expensive to speak to family. I personally just didn't want to go to TMobile or AT&T. I know things can change...but it is hard to believe Verizon can't deliver one of the latest and greatest phones a little sooner. The Incredible seems rather homely...and it's not even the red back for me...it's the fugly front. Problem is...the Desire and N1 are so much nicer looking...the Incredible looks Incredibly disappointing by contrast. Ultimately, there are more important things than the looks....it's just too bad we have to wait...and too bad we can't have as nice a phone as those elsewhere. I'm more calm now...didn't break anything and will go back to lurking. I sure would love to see something positive at CTIA.

To put it nicely, there are plenty of OTHER places on this world wide web you can go read about phones.

If you would like to keep reading here, maybe you should go back and start reading from November in posts about the Bravo, Passion, Incredible etc. THEN maybe you would understand how people here feel, instead of just showing up and whining about Verizon complaints.

But don'cha feel good knowing people in the UK get it free with a $40/month 18 month commitment? I mean really, how does that work?

All of this just makes it very much appealing to get the Eris offer for me and my wife and just end all of this. I know that is exactly what Verizon wants. I just don't see them releasing the N1 or Incredible or anything like that until around June when the new iPhone comes out. I hope I am proved wrong.

I feel like a wind up toy....just so happy! It's like the cherry on top! So glad you shared that bit of info! LOL

I'm actually starting to re-think my stance with regard to AT&T...hmm.

Ya, I was thinking that might be my back up, contract with Verizon ends in July. I hope I don't have to make that decision.

The hopeful end all to all Verizon bitching. Verizon doesn't give two Sh!ts about you. You are .2 percent of their customer base. Their customer base is mostly families who have a mother who wants something pretty in pink; a father who really doesn't care, and two and half children that want the coolest phone. Note: coolest to kids means what ever is popular which will normally be something ridiculous like the nokia twist or something that flips or slides open...DEVOUR.

Verizon knows they have the best service in the US. Verizon knows that the people they have on their network are there because of their service. Verizon knows that they will get new customers because people will eventually get fed up with their phone not actually functioning as a phone. Verizon knows that no matter how slow they are to bring out new phones it doesn't matter because to 99.8 percent of the population, getting a signal is the number one priority.

ATT operates on a different business model. Bring out the trendiest, hippest phones and sign on D-bags that don't care if they can make a call 30 ft outside of a major city.

I'm curious...do you guys think that Verizon will release the Incredible or the Nexus One with Android 2.1 before or after the Droid receives the 2.1 update? Or same time?

I think it would be odd to provide an update to an older phone before releasing a new model with the newest software. If this is the case, the reports that Droid will be receiving 2.1 soon should favor the thoughts that Nexus or Incredible would also be out very soon...
