As far as any press release goes for the GNex.....we and others are creating so much free press talking about the 'Unicorn riding Yetti' and speculating on this and that. If I were them I would wait until just a few days before release for a press release because they do there will be a few days of cheers and then the boards will die down, no more hackery and leaked photos.

So an interesting development on my end. Called VCS with my cousin to try and get him an early upgrade because some CSR talking him into a Samsung Gem a little under year ago. Anyways, the first guy we talking to was nice, but told us that he would troubleshoot the phone to see if anything was wrong, but wouldn't be able to get us anything but the same model as a replacement. Well he ended up getting stumped on what was wrong with the phone, so he escalated our call and transferred us to another rep. This second rep was really nice and after talking with her a bit said she might be able to bump up his upgrade! After talking with her manager for a couple minutes she came back and said she indeed could bump up his upgrade a year and three months to now!

Here's where the nexus comes in. At this point she asked us what phone he would like to buy as a replacement and we told her the nexus. She again left to talk to her manager. When she came back she told us it wasn't out yet, but it would be by the end of the year. We then asked if he could just wait till the nexus came out and call back to get his early upgrade. She replied that the Galaxy Nexus is considered to be one of their "Iconic" devices and it is expected to sell extremely well when it comes out. And that it, along with the iphone being in this category, excludes them from the list of phones that are able to be upgraded to early. We then asked if it was possible to get the Rezound. She check again with her manager and came back saying it was not on the list and he could get it! Gotta hand it to Verizon on this one, hooked him up a year and three months early with an upgraded and allowed him to pick one of the best phones on the market.

And I will (probably) be waiting in order to preserve my marriage. My wife and I go on a nice get-away vacation, so I probably need to get away from all things electronic for a few days. But maybe I can order one and have it waiting for when I return. :D

Yeah that's a pretty disturbing pic.

But you are absolutely correct. A phone is just a phone, nothing worth altering your life for. Keep you mind on the schoolwork, the GNex will be there when your ready.

The movie is pretty funny. It's about as off topic and crude as you can get. Kevin Smith is a huge Star Wars fan, so there's lots of references. Star Wars viewership is a pre-requisite!

But it's also got Matt Damon and Ben Afflack, and I have to say they are hillarious. Code 15 on the set means there a dead hooker in Afflack's trailer, stuff like that. Crude rude and obnoxious!

If you're skimming for the important stuff try looking at how many "Thanks" it has, that's what I do when I'm strapped for time and can't keep up.

But anything related to the GNex doesn't need to be, including getting excited for it, how you plan to pre-order/stand in line, your frustrations with the delay, cases, going naked (no not that naked), or anything else phone related.

I think this, if it works out okay, will be a standard for future pre-order threads. It is important to keep the Nexus talk/info easily accessible as that is why people come to the thread int he first place.

Actually quite the opposite.

The intent is that you'll be able to skim this thread far quicker for actual phone information, and not get bogged down with off topic chatter.

Yup, that's exactly what I do. I just enjoyed the OT chatter that I could ingest while scrolling - I'm a bit of a speed-reader so I was able to take in enough to get what was being discussed. With now having to hide all OT chatter, that makes the thread almost impossible to keep up with (at least for me).

And, with that, I'll let it rest... don't want to offend the folks who don't like the OT chatter. Just wanted to state my opinion.

It was really, really, REALLY difficult not to stick in an eye-rolling smiley in that last sentence.
