***Official Galaxy Nexus Pre-Release speculation thread**

oh man, this thread is still going strong huh? luckily the 4.0 ports are so good, otherwise i'd be much more upset about no nexus yet lol

So the 12th or the 15th now?

Who do we believe P3 or Pyde? Or are they in agreement now??

I think releasing the phone after the 16th wqould cripple sales. Now is when people have money to spend. If it somehow was pushed past the 16th - I would have to buy a Razr or Rezound

Welp, my step-mom has a Rezound. If the Nexus was out she probably would've gotten it, but she had such an old phone she was definitely getting one that was available the day she had her upgrade.

I'm so sick of the up and down, I've not been checking as much. Before Dec 31 and I'll be happy.

Thanks...I'll have to play with it some. (fyi - I do a fair amount of photography...just nice to have a camera with me at all times, since I don't carry my D300S everywhere...lol.)

You're right about the lighting - for those that don't know:
The word "photography" comes from the Greek words phos ("light"), and graphis ("stylus", "paintbrush") or graph

I have only purchased accessories from Wirefly, but I found the service and prices to be excellent!

Also, certain decisions are left up to stores. What you are describing with the Storm incident, sounds like that particular store didn't plan ahead. Just like people have certain VZW reps they can count on, apply the same logic to Best Buy. I know a lot about the stores in my area because my ex was Geek Squad for several years at one of them, I know who to trust better than the average consumer. Just some extra food for thought, FWIW.:)

and Welcome!

Thanks for the welcome and comments about wirefly. I've purchased a phone from them but it was like a month after launch so stock wasn't an issue. I was very pleased with them, though.

As for the best buy preorder, the way it was explained was that bb put in an order based on the number of preorders they had/expected, but their distributor didn't have enough devices to fulfill their preorders. I remember almost going into the Seinfeld "you can take reservations, but you gotta hold the reservation" routine with the salesperson. If I recall correctly, there were shortages of Storms in VZW stores too, and VZW didn't do preorders. I do wonder if VZW and BB both take preorders and were faced with limited stock, when push comes to shove if VZW has the pull to get the stock to fulfill its preorders before BB.

This is a moot point if there is no preorder though...

Nobody cares that the dock doesn't fit a phone with a case on it or it is just me?? Apple makes it work, why doesn't Samsung or HTC or Motoroloa etc......

I made a stop at a local corporate VZW store today...just got back. I wanted more info on the contract they want signed (more on this, in another post.) I talked with the store manager, and when I asked about the Nexus, she feigned ignorance about its release...I got the same typical corporate doublespeak (not sure...yadda yadda.) Eventually I talked with the district manager, who happened to be in the store today. I took the approach that I *knew* the phone would be released next Thursday, and he opened up then! He was very forthcoming with details about the Nexus...Jackpot! He said the Samsung rep will be in their store, for the release of the Nexus, Thursday, 12/8/11, at 9am! (I have an appointment to go pick it up that morning already.) He said they're expecting their phones in, any day, and should have the literature soon. He played with a Nexus yesterday, and said it is definitely the wave of the future...well worth the wait. He was very familiar with it.

Of note: he did say he was aware that VZW had pushed the date back at least once, that he was aware. I didn't ask him about pre-orders, as I plan on picking mine up.

I'll put another post up, with info I found out about the unlimited data plans...kinda interesting I think.

@PydePypperPyde Pypper
@guts311 I've been told straight up it will NOT release/ship prior to the wk of the 12th. So IMO the 8th is wrong release day info.

I'd be willing to bet this is true.

1. It's Verizon. Do you honestly think they'll do something awesome for us?
2. Most people who say the 8th don't really know for sure if it's release or pre-order. PydePypper is the only guy is 100% convinced the 8th is pre-order.

I have a couple of finals that week as well, and most of them brutal, Upper Level Calculus and Upper level Astrophysics courses. Optimally, I'd like a Dec. 8th release, so I'm focused. If it doesn't, then my mind would be clouded and wandering, leading me to failing my finals, which would be detrimental to my research career, which means lost money, and which point I'll blame it all on verizon and demand reparations, lol.

Ditto -- but I have to admit I'm not sure what would be better for my schedule. Slightly before finals so I don't play with it too much when I need to get down to studying/projects. Or half way through them, which is what the 15/16th would be.

College BS

I go to a commuter campus - so we follow the same academic calender as public secondary schools in terms of when we start a semester. Which means I didn't start until AFTER labor day, per Michigan state law, which means I have my last final on the 21st! So glad I'm graduating in April! I'm too old for all this - want to focus on my darn career!
