Yea man you did agreat public service doing the video lol, I can't view it because Im on my eris and the video will not load. But thank you for all the info you have given us.

Did not notice flash but will check later.

Everyone needs to realize that the update is coming. Just be patient and let VZW test the load out to make sure it's ready for us users :)

PS- Name change for admin reasons...

Love the video! It really shows off some of the great new features for 2.x. I am really looking forward to this now.

Thanks for the video S.....err I mean NKT.;)

There were a few new HTC widgets. I'll see if I can get more info on that.

I'm kinda surprised they didn't add the pinch-zoom to Google Maps. Not a biggie but woulda been a nice touch.

Well, with the browser and the home screen they are more or less working off their own software, right? I think they would have to probably rewrite part of the google maps code in order to add that feature. I'm just guessing obviously. I can also imagine that that would slow down the updates from google for google nav, which I doubt anyone would want. It would be a nice feature, but I think I would prefer google to add it natively instead of HTC trying to pack it on top.

ok....

so is that real 2.1 or rooted? i am guessing not rooted

i see htc still didnt get rid of that annoying "phone" button in sense. might there be away to change it? or will i still be running openhome with the hero skin just to get rid of that button?

sense looks good tho.

now the waiting game continues ;)

Real 2.1, not rooted.

Don't think there's a way to change the "Phone" button.

The physical phone button is all that's needed; seems like the Sense developers would notice that.

But then, a special version of Sense may not be developed for the Eris.

It was just released for testing this week.

Can you tell us a bit about the testing regimen? Do you use the device as your main phone for a while? Do you have a list of criteria they supply you with? Do you submit reports? Does your chewing gum lose its flavor on the bedpost over night?

Not sure the details that can be given.

I hope people understand...

For any one device there are several specific fixes that are usually tested along with any new features (Nav, Market, etc...).

Nothing significant. But like I said, it's a fresh load and not a lot of apps running.

Battery life was pretty good before the upgrade though...

For me my battery life it terrible. I can hardly get a full day with light use.

That's a little disappointing :/ But I'm thinking the rest will make up for it. Also, if a user were to disable the animated walls and such it would probably show an increase in battery life... I think

Between 10%-20% and no I'm not using BT/WiFi/GPS.

What's your average signal strength like? The biggest drain on a battery is a phone searching for signal and bouncing between carriers.

Could also be a defective battery. With an awake time that low you should still get decent battery life.
