the vzw version?

He's reported on both GSM and LTE if I read that right, so evidently, both.

Best I can do for a location guess is a mall where you have go up an escalator from the following coordinates -

In the apple store for one last comparison... on 70th Street and Bwy.. .then will walk down to 59th st. columbus circle (I used to live near there when I went to Juilliard)... .

I'm so EXCITED to finally get this phone in my hand... I'm feel like a screaming teenage girl at a rock concert! In fact, you know what? I think I"m even crying!! :p

Out of my 150 or so contacts, I think I only know 2 or 3 that are even using Google +,,, any other ways ?

Lol yeah, that was my ;) because I agree. It's tough to join a new social network when no one is using it. I think there are some third party Facebook apps that will sync contacts ie friendcaster? I could be wrong.

My impression of Steven, Early, OTD, Han, BB, et al. on release day!

Edit -- Well, This is a bit better - Thanks, Early

I'm pretty sure Google went out of their way to make sure it wouldn't work with Facebook right away. Doesn't mean that they haven't opened up the API so that Facebook can make it work, but I'd lay down money on it being an intentional Google+ strategy.

Yeah - not to be a Google fanboy, but I'm not having it.

One of the first big things we face in forum after forum for people new to, or upgrading, Android phones is how to make FB contacts work this time.

I've seen MANY threads with the same questions - FB stopped syncing - FB is duplicating contacts - FB contact pictures are fuzzy - FB contact pictures took over my personal contact pictures - I wanted to use FB on my phone, but I never wanted it to sync my contacts, how do I turn that off - and probably as many other issues that I can't call up off-hand.

I've seen lots of people say that HTC Facebook works well - and others say that it works better, but not well.

So - if FB is forced to do something to end that nonsense with ICS, I don't think it's a bad thing.

Can someone please help me understand what people/reviewers mean when they talk about the "build quality" of a phone? I recently watched a youtube comparison of the GN and 4s (link included below, part I'm referencing begins around 1:00) and was sorta surprised when he praised the 4s build quality and said that Samsung needs to work on improving that... so:

1) Is build quality objective or subjective?

2) If build quality is objective, how should/would it be measured?

3) If build quality is subjective, what would everyone here think would be the most important aspects to keep in mind?

For me, build quality has always been a combination of durability and Quality Control (lack of defects), but it seems that I may be missing some aesthetic measure of build quality...

Not sure if this has been posted already, but lookee here, we'll be able to control our home with our Nexus. I selected Galaxy Nexus, and it says "compatible with your device." If only it were my device...

I heard Facebook does not work very well with ICS yet and that Facebook sync does not work with contacts ? I like having that feature on my contacts.:(

Facebook has been broken since Gingerbread in concerns to the api that allows for the sync of contacts. Other apps allow it to happen, like the HTC facebook app if youre skinned but it's on Facebook to fix their app not Google. The api in Android works fine.

Thanks for the report Steven :) It's awesome that they have a demo unit in a store already, and that you got to actually hold it! Must have been dream-like :P

Edit -- Well, I obviously do not know how to post a pic :(

No worries - the mental picture is awesome! :D

OK - edit your post - go to the Advanced button at bottom - find the paperclip icon at the very top of the post-edit window - use the tool there to browse over to the picture and attach it for our viewing pleasure. ;) :)

I'm at work and what's going on does this mean we can buy it somehow or is it just on display at samsung?

1) Comments made after a few hours of use are certainly subjective.

2) refer to above comment, objective comments cannot be made in such a short time. a much longer period of testing over a much wider number of devices would be required for anything meaningful. durability and quality control are what i consider to be "objective" measurements as well.

3) i want a device that feels solid, weight is important. i don't want a creaky battery door, loose volume/power buttons, etc. my "subjective" test can be concluded with one question... how would this device fare if i dropped it right now?

When I first get this Phone, how do I prevent it from automatically downloading all my apps from my previous phone? I want to manually download what apps I want on this phone since I hear a lot still don't work and there are a bunch I don't want on my new phone. Thanks guys:confused:

dont quote me on this but going between different versions of android breaks the restore. my wife went from bone stock Inc on GB 2.3.4 to her RAZR with 2.3.6 and it wouldnt restore her apps.

So, how many people besides myself are planning to be at their respective verizon stores Thursday morning when the store opens up? I have the day off luckily!

Only if Thursday turns out to be the day (it's rumored to be Friday by Kellex's sources) and only if I can't get it to my house before Thursday via an online pre-order or something.
