Root [Boost Mobile] Interdpth's Root is Not 100%

Interdpth's 1 click root http://dl.dropbox.com/u/12510094/WarpDrive.zip is not 100 % it is only a partial root! so for all you guys making things assuming that the phone is 100 rooted your products are not going to worl because the root does not give 100% root access to your phone as evidence to this check out: http://androidforums.com/warp-all-things-root/455592-testers-wanted.html and a couple of other threads in this forum about it. even though im grateful to interdpth for attempting but it was only a quick fix,i mean if your going to do something , do it right! so essentially we are back to square 1 when it comes to getting custom recovery and other things. but his work did help in at least proving that the phone could be rooted! the root he has will let you install custom 3rd party apps but thats about all it will let you do. so we have to get a 100 root to get things moving again!

until nextime guys:cool:!

Not sure what you're talking about. Root means you get root access the phone as root user - and that is in fact the case with the solution posted by interdpth.

So can you clarify (a) what you think root access means, and (b) what think is missing?
root gives you 100 access to phone, what is missing is when you are going further into prgramming like a custom revovery we cant do it because we dont have permissions indicating we dont have 100% root

We will get custom recovery soon. root is fine.

In the traditional way that other roms give you root it's not 100%

You still need an insecure boot partition, that way any shell you launch is as root. Vs the su method where the shell is a standard user and you escalate to root by running 'su'.

Depending on what you want to do each method has its advantages...

I've posted an insecure boot image in another thread but I don't know any who has tested it. I don't have a warp, as I'm stuck overseas until the end of the month.....

thats what i was talking about , not as in disrespect to inttdpths and his team..maybe i shoulda worded it differently

Hurray for people not wanting secure phones

everything starts off as inseucure originally thats how you make progress1 but hell tell ya what ,if you are so worried about insecrurity ill buy u an warp and ship it to your address so you can make things all nice and safe for us!

Rooting your phone gives you permissions to access files that you are not allowed to. There are lots of people who write programs that require root in order to work like titanium back up (one of my favorites ) or ad block. Custom recovery modes, like clock work recovery mode has to be ported over to this phone it doesnt come with root. They are 2 different things. Now that interdpth has rooted this phone people have the keys to there cars so they may drive it where ever it will take them. This is the start of great things to happen.

What's wrong with continuing in this one, but according to the Site Rules?
I think he was asking you to make a new thread to remind people to be respectful. I think we need a noob questions subforum because Ive never seen so many strange questions in a development thread before.

Ah, gotcha. Nope, this one should be good now.

Oh you'd be surprised what pops up around the site.... ;) We can't oblige with a sub-forum, but what most other sections have is a ""Root Guide" stuck at the top of the ATR sub-forum, which is kept up-to-date by the Guides (with input from the users, naturally) and contains links to rooting guides, how-to posts, useful tools, custom ROMs.... basically a FAQ topic that gives new users somewhere to look before posting.

I'll have a word with the Guide Team Leader (Frisco) and ask for a template to be added here. If you folks then start suggesting the contents it'll soon take shape and can continue to grow as the Warp's development progresses.
