I think of those days long ago, when summer was still in full swing and the parks were full of children playing together, when I proudly proclaimed that my cut off date was Black Friday, thinking that I would never get anywhere near that date without the Nexus in my hand.
Black Friday is but a distant memory now, and I’ve swallowed my pride and humiliated myself at the altar of Verizon’s stupidity.
I hereby make a solemn oath, and I shall hold true to it. If the Nexus is not out by the end of this week (I’m giving it til Sunday), I shall not buy it upon release. My lazily-earned money shall go to the Transformer Prime.
Then it will be Verizon’s turn to wait, if I even decide to stay with these idiots.
I’ve had enough.
(Yeah, I know that after my huge proclamation and subsequent return, no one will believe me. But it’s enough that I believe me. And I do!)

So, I just called Verizon CS via *611 to ask about moving my upgrade date from March to when the Nexus releases. As soon as I told her that it was the Galaxy Nexus I wanted to upgrade to, she kinda giggled like she had taken dozens of Galaxy Nexus calls today.
I never asked her when it would be released, but she did ask me what I had heard, and I told her that some people were contacted by their stores and that they would be able to pick theirs up on Thursday. She said "wow, you know more than I know, they never tell us anything".
It was kinda curious that she asked me what I had heard, maybe gauging to see how far the leaks had made it?
Anyway, she said that I would have to call back when the phone actually releases to see if they could do a "manager upgrade" to upgrade sooner. And she also added that it was harder to do a "manager upgrade" to an iPhone or 4G phone because the equipment costs more.
So, if I can't get my upgrade moved back, guess I'll be paying full price.

I thought I had some good news????? WOW, now I admit, this is my first go around the verion release merry go round, but I find it hard to believe that this is not legit....again, the story line...

Call corp. store, talk to rep, ask her about any news on nexus and if it does come out should i preorder or just buy in store.

I shall buy both. Because I want to, and because I can. And the Transformer Prime is soooo gorgeous. Oh, and so is the Nexus, but we already knew that.
Also, to add on to this post...Stores 1,2 and 4 all had an automated "Press 1 for...Press 2 for...Press 3 to talk to a Rep" when i called and stores 3 and 5 went straight to a store rep...I'm not sure, but is this the difference between a "corp store" and a "regular store"? And if that is the case, then I had more luck getting info from a "corp store"...again FWIW...

Stores 2,3, and 5 are covering up info so that they can sell the nexus to their friends and family since it will be in limited supply.
This is probably a stupid question but oh well..
On new phone release days, can Verizon stores start selling the new phones as soon as they open? The reason I ask is because a Verizon corporate store located in downtown Minneapolis opens at 8am whereas most other Verizon corporate stores in the area open at 9am. I was just wondering if the downtown location would have to wait until 9am to be fair?

I have no opinion, really, about open1your1eyes' info.
He/She seemed to be legitimate. And the XDA guy who dropped the photos saying it was a final retail box, with some sort of embossing on the box visible to us, seemed legitimate as well, but they contradicted each other.
So who knows. I don't think it's right to outright attack anyone, though, who presents info that you don't believe.
Except for the Windsock, of course.
Or maybe demo and test phones come in a plain white box and they were both correct. It was pretty much impossible to see the embossing in the low-res pic.............Some just have to be haters(no talking about you

Don't think for a minute that 'by the end of the year' may also come and go without the GNex. On the Verizon FIOS side, the NY area has been waiting for over ONE YEAR for a software upgrade that most of the country has already gotten.
In fact THREE TIMES Verizon has put up on the FIOS menu "A new FIOS is coming soon' only to have taken it down THREE TIMES because of screw ups and pure incompetence.
Having had more dealings with Verizon than I care to admit, having the end of the year come & go without a GNex wouldn't surprise me in the least.
Ahh, I see your waiting for IMG 1.9 from Verizon as well.

Yeah, I just thought the crowd could use some levity, and that's a good clip. I agree the instruction could be in the box. Who knows, maybe verizon told them to not open some box. Right now, I'm lost.

Maybe you have to take a red or blue pill that is in the box. If you choose correctly, you are given the wisdom of the release date.

if true (and i'm not saying it isn't, just a qualifier for the haters), a rep would have no reason to trick you. scheduling an appointment for midnight just to mess with someone would clearly mean you never giving her, or anyone at that store, your business ever again. a lie of this caliber would certainly warrant losing her job, and i just don't think someone would go that far for their own amusement. stranger things have happened, but it's not something that a person with "common" sense would do.

So i was in a good mood after almost 100% sure of the 8th. I was happy and my wife was napping. So i cleaned the entire house, never checked my phone or the computer.
