Long time lurker figured I would add to this post. I am probably going to return my Bionic I purchased 6 days ago and wait on the Nexus. What do you guys think of that? I am intrigued by the ICS and true open source. Any advice?

I have been reading through the last few pages of this thread while I should have been studying for my finals this week. It's tough being back in school especially when you are 30..

Thanks! I have to say I am jealous. I would have loved to do aero! I am Industrial because that was the only engineering degree offered on my campus(USF Polytechnic). Going back to college as an adult narrows your options. I wouldn't mind trying to get a job in civil.

First... Did Nohra create your Statics final? Is he still around? If you ever have a chance to take a class with him, DO IT. He is a giant pain in the arse, but, he's a great teacher. I took Mechanics of Materials and Dynamics with him (in the same semester ). Dynamics is his baby, he's passionate about that one.

I actually taught a statics class at Valencia Community College, could have helped you with that one... well, maybe not if Nohra wrote the test, don't blame your professor, Nohra has that effect on people. Our first Dynamics test, the class average was around a 37.

Second... (may have given it away already) I graduated from USF with a degree in Civil. graduated in 2003, feeling old. I think USF is a good school. I don't hear about a lot of engineers from there in Orlando, a lot of UCF/UF grads, but, I'd guess that Tampa is mostly USF/UF grads, so, it's expected.

Its not a great market in civil right now, as I am sure you know (not that it's a great market in anything). What kind of civil are you thinking? I know you mentioned your reasons, but, and industrial degree is a pretty big leap to civil.

Whatever your specialization in civil, I'd try to take 2-4 classes in that area on top of your degree requirements. You may have to go to Tampa to do it, but, it's going to be your best bet. You might also think about trying to do a masters in civil if you can. I think grad classes are a little more flexible in Tampa, so, maybe you can drive over there for night classes?

When you graduate, PM me and I'll let you know if I hear of any openings in the Orlando area. Since I just slipped through our last round of layoffs, I was looking recently. I had 7 potential jobs written down to follow up on. They were all looking for 6-10 years of experience, but, there are a few things out there if you look. Good luck!

My best advice would have been to 18 y/o Orlando Bull --- BE A PHARMACIST OB, why do you want all of the stress of engineering, why? (actually, I like engineering, but, it can be challenging at times)

Basically it is an email from an authorized retailer to his store(s) saying they are getting shipments in Wednesday not to be touched, or sold until the 9th.

My car dock lust is getting out of control.

So, I was out on some errands tonight and was going by my local corporate store, so I stopped in. Instead of the usual attack dog, hanging out by the door, a dude YELLED to me from the counter, and then came over to see what I needed. I asked him if there was any info on the Nexus... he didn't seem to know what I was talking about, really... but I think it rang a bell after a minute and he said, "hopefully, this year." So then I switched tactics and asked if he knew what accessories they might be selling (maybe get more confirmation that they already had some), and he wasn't sure. So, I couldn't resist, expressing my lust for that Samsung car dock, and he wanted to see it. So I brought up the mobilefun page on one of the Xoom tablets. He seemed genuinely impressed by it, said that he hoped they did stock it... then, I got one little tidbit out of him, that may or may not be relevant news. They (Bloomingdale, IL corporate store) had a "big" meeting on Thursday morning, "bright and early, and that usually means something big is coming."

Since I haven't been spanked lately (and boy do I miss it), I'm about to fill you in on my 30 minute visit with my VZW rep this afternoon. She called me about the Nexus. I was just leaving work so decided to stop into the corporate store where she works. She first apologized that I didn' t get my Nexus just before Thanksgiving as she promised. Corporate suits held the phone back mainly because the Razr marketing campaign hadn't run its course. She then offered to show me the accesories in the back room. Since her stock manager was there today, she wouldn't be able to let me buy them today. I can stop in tomorrow and purchase any that I want. The only one she didn't have was the HDMI dock. The staff has already had training, and their Friday meeting has been moved up Wenesday (7th). She told me that usually means a promotion is about to begin. While she wasn't sure whether there would be enough stock for an all out campaign to begin this week, I would be getting my Nexus on Friday. UNLESS she sees it in the system tomorrow or Wednesday. Then she would overnight to me and I would have it one or two days before release. The upgrade price is $299. Sorry for the late post. Wifey had me setting up Christmas decorations. Between blow-up Santas and flashing L.E.Ds or some silly phone, I guess you know where her priorities are. :-(

Did they have the Samsung car dock?

Any recent details on the COSTCO release?

Anyone have recent info on the bonus pack that will come with the Galaxy Nexus? I'd be more interested in sacrificing my $50 loyalty credit if the pack comes with a dock or spare battery.

If they have that Samsung car dock as part of their bundle, I might give up my last $30 NE2... though, I'm really hoping Verizon stocks it, so that even if I get the phone elsewhere, I can put the $50 living social voucher towards it.


In other news, I'm glad that the other half of my split personality hasn't shown up in this thread to start any arguments with me. We really go at it, sometimes... thankfully, he's usually tech savvy enough to log into a compromised computer, in another part of the country, with desktop sharing software and post from there, eliminating any kind of IP address similarity.

It was 2 documents.

Basically it said phones are being shipped to stores by tomorrow (12/6/11)

and phones are NOT allowed to be displayed and/or sold until 12/9/11

and there were rules

I've been starting to go about my day by thinking how the Galaxy Nexus can resolve my everyday issues.
For example, in class my teacher was going too fast and I needed some of the slides on her power point. Imagine I could whip out my GN and take a picture of the power point with the ever efficient and speedy camera with zero shutter lag.
Also, I was at chipotle and I left my credit card at home. How convenient would it be for Google wallet to be there to help me pay for my food?
and when I was "using my resources" during a test, the speedy browser would've been great help.
I just need her now:c I'm so desperate.

Don't think Chipotle has a Google Wallet-enabled payment module
Also, Google Wallet won't work on the Verizon version unless you root and hack it on. Which I shall do.

Edit: I'm leaning towards the 9th, but this doesn't look like one of Verizon's usual leaks. Looks like they opened up word and changed the size and color.

So based on all of that... I surmise:
1. Announce tomorrow (maybe presale?) - because shipping to stores begins tomorrow
2. VZW stores on Thursday
3. Everyone else Friday or later
