I really hope it isn't true. I'm just going by previous rumors. Let's see..

I don't think that's true. I had opened a VZW line for my Xoom when I bought it on contract. I then bought the 10.1 Galaxy Tab off contract (way before I was upgrade eligible), and was able to preorder it with no problem. Just chose the off contract price and it let me do the order. don't see why it'd be different for any other line.

Heh, I actually really like the "cop out" endings. I don't generally like ending that are all neatly tied up, they seem boring. I did very much enjoy this book, though, different sort of story for him, and well done.

I believe it's like a restaurant soft launch- there will be an official announcement, but it's available before that if you know where to look.

Being off contract does not mean you'll lose your unlimited data. I still have unlimited data and I was never on contract. My VZW business rep said the same thing, as long as you're not changing the type of plan then you're good. You can still change minutes/text/phones (3g or 4g) and it doesn't matter, you still have unlimited. If a local store rep tells you otherwise then you need to ask to speak to a manager. (local store reps don't seem to really know anything most of the time)

I can't wait!! I always set the DVR just in case I'm busy at 10. It's always sad when the season ends though. :(

If I am upgrading, do I have to upgrade at a corp store in the state I live in? I'm traveling from Michigan to Florida on Friday and would like to be able to pick up a nexus in Orlando, but am not sure if that's possible as my account is in Michigan.
 
I buy phones off contract too, but in all reality what's the point? Not like your carrier is going to give you a discount for bringing your own device to the party. Your plan still costs the same. You might as well take advantage of the discounted price

You really have to love someone that throws out a statement like "If you don't have a Nexus in your hand in 14 days, then I'll eat my phone" ... but then doesn't want to back it up! Hell, I'm not saying eat the darn phone, but you better be willing to deal with the masses on the internet that will hold you to it.

It boggles my mind how many people throw out a bold statement, then blame people for harping on it. Keep it simple - don't throw out the statement. :D

Nope. As long as you do it at a corporate store you'll be fine
 
OT (Dexter)

I had a rant on Sunday night, but, I didn't like this episode. It's almost like the writers wrote a 3-hour season and have added a lot of complete randomness to fill in the additional 9 hours. The female professor, trinity's son, husband and wife bad guys, female intern, etc... too many new characters with seemingly no purpose.

I think the intern knows Dexter's secret... "he never makes a mistake"... and then his game idea, I think that is why Dex is his hero.

I don't know, they have 2 seasons to pull it together, but, this season has felt like a lot of "filler".

OT (puppies)

Well, not puppies, dogs. I do labrador rescue and usually have a foster. I don't do puppies though. Lab puppies are the spawn of satan. The youngest I had was 11 months and he bit me, chewed up pillows, had non-stop energy, whined, barked, etc... I was very sad when he got adopted and left... miss the little bastard

I just got an email from my regional rep for verizon and confirmed they had training this week. Stated it COULD be launching this friday. I dont know why the rep would say that if it wasn't happening.

I'm all for untidy endings (see LOST's ending, which I loved), but he's just in a totally different league. His endings come out of NOWHERE to smack you over the head (hand from the sky, etc.). I always feel cheated and that I wasted my time. Seriously, I get pissed.

The last book I read from him was Under the Dome, but I got kind of bored at around page 200 and looked up the ending online. Of course, it was a completely stupid one. Threw it in the trash.

Then a coworker recommended 11/22/63. He told me the ending wasn't a cop out, and that it was good. I bet him if I didn't like the ending, he'd have to use the book as toilet paper for a week. He agreed.

I lost. I owe him $10. (Still cheaper than the book retail.)

Me too. I hate the effin' vzw store around here. They replace one jackA with another even bigger ja. But the way it's looking, it will be different than it was with the TB or DI. I actually got my device a day before the stores sold it, I believe it was a Wednesday with the release Thurs. Not gonna happen here unless they do online orders tomorrow with delivery 12/8 or 12/9. I can't believe I'm gonna have to walk in there. They will not be allowed to touch the phone with their grubby, disease infested, snot ridden fingers.

Yeah I don't get it either . Unless you're someone that wants to switch carriers depending on a phone . I personally don't plan on leaving Verizon so I really don't care about being on a long contract I'm also grandfathered in on unlimited data and an amazing corporate plan . I have gotten single lines with other carriers before but none of them did it for me I've had ATT recently and still have one sprint line but Verizon blows them away in both cell service and customer service
