I think I said that earlier lol... like about 100 pages ago, but I think thats on new lines only. I have my old sim (under 60days old) from my tbolt, and I will be using it. So i dont think they req activation there.... but if they do, ill be doing it ;)

Ahhh....well I'm month to month....is that considered new line? Or does new line mean going from no VZW service to signing up for service with them?

I'm gonna be signing a contract.

Slightly OT:

My wife's phone was stolen at work and she is temporarily using an old phone (no internet, email or anything, just voice). I've been so wrapped up in getting my GNex and following on this forum, that I haven't researched phones for her, so I thought I'd tap into some of all of ya'lls experiences. I don't really care if it has 4g (will be awhile before we get it here), but would like one that will eventually get ICS. So which is everyone's fav? Bionic, Thunderbolt, or Incredible 2?

If getting 4G then my opinion is:
  • Rezound - Next best thing to GNEX
  • Bionic - Decent phone, smaller face with same size screen as RAZR, cheaper than rezound
  • No other 4G phones worth purchasing.
Non-4G
  • Dinc 2 - Screen looks great to me and the external speaker has clear sound for playing music and using speaker phone. If I didn't want ICS, I would be getting this phone.

I thought this was the actual Nexus forum...

It is -sorry to confuse you. If you're on a web browser go to the top where it says Android Forums> Android Phones> Samsung Galaxy Nexus.....

Click on the Samsung Galaxy Nexus and when it goes to that you'll see the post count on the right in a column. Click on that and it will list who has how many posts

so what accessories is everyone going to get??

A dock and extended battery

My understanding is that activation is how they generate the new two year contract granting you the subsidized price. I've asked a couple of sales guys a few different times if I could activate my own phone at home and that was the answer I got. Could be BS, I don't know I've never worked as a wireless rep.

As for why it would be different online, I don't know that it is. I think phones ordered online are activated with your number or a new number if you're not porting before the phone ships to you. I've ordered from Amazon and Let's Talk with new numbers, and each time the carrier sent me an email telling me the phone is being shipped and activated with the new number.

Sorry for possible double post. This thread moves so fast I didn't want to try and edit my last.

I lost my old 3G phone one drunken night so I bought the Fascinate I currently have off of craigslist, my line was already with VZW with unlimited data and my old phone I lost I brought to VZW to sign up for service and lock in the unlimited data so I was still month to month, after I bought the Fascinate I immediately activated it using the hands free or whatever it is they call it with the android phones without issue and was immediately using it.

I find this activation nonsense just that, nonsense.

Anybody else put in their order with Jason from Maryland? I just made a deposit :)

You had to make a deposit? That seems weird. Only one other person has mentioned that in this thread (IIRC). My rep just said they would have them on Friday and he was holding one for me (I can't pick it up until around 7:00 PM).

Stopped by the VZW store in Columbia, MD tonight and got the typical "should be released soon" response. Was surprised to see 1 Rezound on display in the entire store where they had several RAZRs on display. I had to actively search for the Rezound to find it. Guessing the GN will get this same level of promotion from VZW.

Hey guys just got in from a long day, have we heard any word at all from verizon officially yet?

No, but I played with a demo model at the store tonight and set up to buy one on Friday. I'm officially a believer.

Besides, now that I know it actually exists and isn't a fairy-tale, I'm good to go to next week if I have to lol.

My phones have always shipped without being activated and I activated it when I received it. IIRC the ToS on those orders stated you must activate within 15 days (or something to that effect) or your account will be charged full retail price. I don't see why the same can't be applied to in-store purchases.

Well new news maybe...

I talked to a wireless consultant from Verizon who my family has been buying phones from for awhile in California.

He said this morning the Galaxy was in their system for a 12/9 Friday launch, but now it says "Coming Soon" instead so not sure what that means...

Just relaying the information..... This was of 7:20PM

Grain of salt as usual.

Thank you!

Nice, I opted for opening a new line on the family account. Came out to being about a 100 bucks cheaper than buying full retail. Finally glad its a done deal, and basically set in stone.

That's a good deal ny! I am so glad the wait is almost over with.

Weird seems like Nov 17th was just yesterday hard to believe it's been 3 weeks since then

Yup, I actually felt safer that way knowing I have one for sure no matter what now lol. But anyway, its being shipped out to me overnight. I didn't want to risk going late and missing out on the phone locally because I have exams that day as well. Overall, I payed a lot less than I thought it would come to. Here is to hoping vzw doesn't try to screw anything up from here on out.
