That actually makes a lot of sense. Changing it to "coming soon" would squelch the 9th release date if they really wanted to keep it hush hush. It would accomplish 2 things:

1. stores that had NOT seen that would not know about the 9th and thus wouldn't tell customers the 9th, even though it could still be releasing on the 9th

2. stores that HAD seen it would now tell their customers they weren't sure about the 9th.

The only problem with all that is there was apparently a memo sent out to all the stores stating it was delayed. I haven't seen said memo/email screen shot, but if that's to be believed, then yeah it's probably not the 9th.
 
Kinda ready to tell Verizon to bend over...so I can tell them where to stick their phones, shoddy LTE, terrible customer service and stupid polices. How can a major corporation be this incompetent???

I feel bad that they keep jerking you guys around. It's a great phone save for some of the bugs in the software. That's to be expected with any new phone though. Coming from a 3g phone to a 4g, the data speed is great. It also gets much better reception than my incredible did at the office which is a plus.

Except it is cheap cables that do it not the stock cables. Not to mention that happens on lots of phones not just the nexus. Remember the moto phones would only charge with a moto charger at first?

Agreed.

And switching it to online only, whoever theorize that, makes NO sense if there are phones in store currently. Wasted inventory. It's silly.

Heres some info I got from a CSR from a local store... I know its just a CSR but it makes some sense....

I stopped by my store and the guy was kinda cool. He said that last night when he left it said the 9th on that online sheet, but he said today it says what weve been told. release date coming soon and that the meeting for tomorrow is still on, and his manager stated that the LTE issue is a concern, but he also said that his manager thinks that Verizon did it to announce it themselves tomorrow morning and not have leaks going out. He said he still expects it to launch friday, but said it can change tomorrow. He thinks that because everyone has gotten word, (costco, radioshack, bestbuy...) it almost has to happen friday. But he 'couldnt' let me see the demo and wouldnt confirm if they had stock

And those came yesterdayand technically it wasn't a public PR. So this jerking us around "debacle" has been going on for 1 day.

Called again to my local store. She said she wasn't sure on the exact launch date(as we already know) but then i was put on hold, she came back and said that in most cases when they continue to have an extended wait on when exactly it will launch then it usually launches on a ONLINE ONLY sale.

Nom nom nom smh.....this takes me way back to the original rumors of a web only launch from months back.

Makes no sense since people are reporting that stock is in some stores, and they've physically held store samples and demos.
