***Official Galaxy Nexus Pre-Release speculation thread**

If they are telling the stores that the 9th is wrong then that will be repeated out to the customers. Verizon can then come back tomorrow with their PR saying it is actually coming out the 9th and everyone will be happy again. A little puppies and rainbows, I admit, but it's the most logical positive theory so far.

Well he never got an email about the launch being 'canceled', only the assumptions the CSR's made after seeing the date change from 9th to Coming Soon

2. VZW is SO dumb that they let another major issue somehow get through testing. In which case the new date would probably not be the 12th or 15h. well maybe the 15th

How is this Verizon's fault? I remember when everyone was bashing Motorola for the LTE issues they were having with the dual core chips, and it was all Moto's fault. Now LTE issues are arising with the Nexus, and it isn't Samsung's fault? It's Verizon's? I understand there are things flying around the LTE is having issues around the country, but I just don't buy it.

Samsung should have done more testing before mass producing it. As much as everyone is frustrated with Verizon, it might not be all their fault.

This is ridiculous. VZW should realize that pushing the release date of Galaxy Nexus won't help them find the droid they were looking for.

It's a sim card issue folks. Razr activations started ailing today and the suspect is a new batch of sim cards. Vzw is looking into it but this delay is to ensure the sim cards are ok.

I really do not get some people in this thread. There have been rumors of different dates all along, including 12/12 from people who have the phone. Until I get the official email from Verizon I am not getting my hopes up. Maybe more people should do the same.

So we should all be the same people and react the exact same way? C'mon variety is the spice of life :D

Hope everything's ok with your wife Steven and I wish for a quick recovery for her. Take good care of her!

It doesn't. But who really knows if there is any nexus in stock anywhere? Im not saying i believe it. But if i'm small market. I'd say i have it in stock if i'm expecting it to arrive on the 8th for a projected 9th release.

Oops. Pressed wrong link to quote. But yea. Take care of wifey steven! Hope everything is well

Cool, so I'll see you again when the Verizon PR comes out?

By the time you get an email from verizon the phone will have already been out at least a week. They never send them out until after phone launches.

I don't think I would wait for the email, we'll all have our phones by then.... but...ya... something from Big Red would be nice

NYC Store update

Visited a bunch of NYC stores, from Grand Central and working my way downtown. Here's what I've found.

Madison Ave store
Claims they have no phones or accessories. Least helpful and claims they don't know the launch date.

34th St store
Very helpful. Sent someone in back to bring out every accessory they have received. Still under the impression the launch is Friday.

5th Ave store
Claims the launch is canceled as of this morning. Says they have nothing in. Turns out this is a lie (see next)

Union Sq store
Happy to bring out all accessories to show me. Not too many here but they said that 5th Ave store (above) have more including the extended battery. Said launch date was supposed to be the 9th. Now just coming soon.

More stores to visit. More later.

Haha. Maybe the new vzw memo said:
make up what you want to tell customers.

Been offline all morning. With wife at doctor. She took a serious spill at work and is in a great deal of pain. Will be online later.

I implore everyone too love one another in my absence. I'll be back in an hour and a half.

Steven

Hope she gets better quickly!

Also, an update from DL to follow-up the 4G outage:
droid_life LTE back. :P Don't tell east coasters that though.

Ok here's an experiment I just did to test 4G issues.

History: My bionic lost 4G connection late last night, and has spotty 3G connection. voice calls work fine. Phone is a personal phone, purchased on 9/8 in Centra CA.
My Samsung 4G mifi has a solid 4G connection sitting next to my bionic. Device was purchased early this year on a corporate account in Central Texas.

Experiment: swap sim cards!
So I took the sim card from the mifi and installed it in my bionic, booted up, bam, within seconds, strong 4G connection. ran a bunch of speed tests, and loaded up a bunch of web sites, updated about a dozen apps. no problems for the 10 minutes I let it run.
Next, took the SIM that came with my bionic and installed it in the samsung mifi, powered it up, no 3g or 4g, searching constantly, over a 10 minute period it was able to get onto 3g for a short periods of time (20 seconds or so) a few times, but couldn't maintain connection.

Next put the SIM that came with the samsung back in it. Instant 4G connection.
Put the SIM that came with my bionic back in the bionic, no data signal, voice works fine.

So it sounds like there are some really strange 4G issues (seems to be tied to particular sim card(s)?

Just thought it was interesting enough to share.
BTW in the few minutes it took me to type this, my bionic has gone from no data to 1x to 3g and back to no data about a dozen times.
the samsung mifi still shows strong 4G connection.

How do you know it has any issues let alone any with lte?

So my sim card that has worked fine for the last 3 weeks instantly went bad today? Fail. Obviously they are having LTE network issues based on my experience and many others here. Still don't buy that has anything to do with the delay though.

Why have stock in stores if you're going to have online only?

Yes siree bobby! Why? Either because no stores actually have them in stock or the 'web only' report is nonsense. Take your pick.

If we had a $1 for each non-factual report in this thread, we could probably BUY Samsung.

I could barely skim through a page here before another was posted, holy crap!

Anyone wondering what Steven is going to do when he gets back? There's no way he's going to be able to catch up on every post is there?

If you do read this Steven then I hope your wife gets better soon and that it's nothing serious!!

Not sure if this has been posted or not, but Verizon is finally starting to get negative press outside of the tech community for this launch fiasco. Ad Age recently published an article about how the secrecy around the launch is hurting their brand, customer loyalty, image, things like that. It's good to see other industries piling on - maybe with more people taking on the cause Verizon will come to their senses and at least break silence.

BTW - next week now? Really? And LTE issues? This keeps getting better and better.

Droid Life
Update 2: A couple of folks have suggested that this move could have to do with the 4G LTE issues that started popping up on phones yesterday afternoon. If that is the case, you can’t fault Verizon for waiting another couple of days to make sure their network is stable enough for this phone.
It isn't stated if the LTE issues were Nexus related, it just says "phones". Not sure if that includes all LTE phones or not.
