Or it could be tomorrow. Not likely, of course ... but this means that unless there's a problem with the phone hardware (which strikes me as extraordinarily unlikely), everything is ready to launch at any moment. All Verizon has to do is "flip a switch" in their computer system.

All of that stuff that we waited weeks and weeks for ... the first pictures of the LTE version, the first hands-on videos, confirmation of 32GB, leaks of equipment guides and user manuals, shipments to stores, employee training ... all of that stuff is in the past now. The ONLY THING that still has to happen is for someone at Verizon to say "Go."

+ ∞! Right on :)

I hope it will give you all a warm & fuzzy feeling. That's the plan, anyway. It's really good news. Patience :)

No more about tonight until tonight. Its off topic and does nothing to ease our pain about Nexus :o

If it's about the Nexus 4 or the SGS3 then I don't want to know :D

Long time lurker coming out of hiding! What a great thread full of a lot of really cool people. I can't help myself anymore, I just need to join in.

Yeah, I'm disappointed in delay from what we thought yesterday, but on the bright side it's been a lot of fun tracking this bad boy and good things come to those who wait. So I'm waiting no matter how long...We're close now!!

Welcome to the madness. Take a Valium and join in! :)

My sister hasn't texted me anything more yet.

But come back here at 12:29 am tonight. I will have some news that may or may not excite you. It will consist either of epic Nexus news or what my favorite movies are. You won't want to miss it!

:)

If you don't post anything at 12:29 AM tonight you're staying on probation another month sir! :p

hmmm, well I can't emphasize enough that we are in the Nexus Prime release or bust zone right now.......nothing in the world can bring us happiness or peace or mind other than information pertaining to this. Just a warning. It's sad we can take no joy in other aspects of life right now, but that's just the way it is.

I have a Bionic in the Quad Cities (IL/IA border) and do not have LTE right now either... I'm in an area with good signal too. Not sure if this has anything to do with the Nexus delay, or if Verizon is just having a very bad day of coincidences?

Is Davenport one of the Quad cities? I was born there but obviously moved when real young because I don't know if it is one of them.

Verizon pulled the release date because they are giving away all of their inventory to anyone that has posted on this thread? Yes! :p

I called the Corporate Verizon store I spoke with yesterday the one that told me they weren't sure if it was the 8th or 9th, the rep I originally spoke with wasn't at work today so I spoke with another associate, she admitted the the phone was indeed listed in the inventory guide and after some pressure she said it does just say coming soon. She had never seen the 9th must have been changed rather quickly.

So she said but we do have a big meeting scheduled in the morning and we expect to find out something, she said she wasn't sure if it was about the Nexus or another device...

Oh 1 more thing I forgot to mention...this type of meeting usually indicated a launch was coming I asked how soon typically do the phones get released after these meetings she said it varied 1 day sometimes a week.

I wonder what time that meeting's at? :D

I am hopeful cause of one thing.

There has been this meeting in stores that everyone is reporting and i personally heard when i called my local store.

It isn't cancelled (well reports from people here who called in still mention them)... so i'm staying optimistic.

Can't wait to hear about your favorite movies.

You have a factual error.

The HTC Evo 4G got Froyo six weeks after the Nexus One.

I will grant you that Verizon is often slower, but they beat the DX GB update over the over the Evo by a week or two.

All an update takes is corporate will.

But I won't argue the point that if you want the fastest updates, then a Nexus is the way to go.

Some would argue that the change from Eclair to Froyo was a minor one. But, point well taken :D

Of course there are exceptions to the whole update thing, one of which was the EVO. But the point still stands that more often than not, if you are in the store looking at a carrier-branded, OEM-skinned, Android device, and your thinking is that the device will probably get the next update to Android "soon" after release, you will often be left disappointed.

I'm talking from personal experience....I had the Samsung Vibrant, the first Galaxy S device in the US. How could this device not receive constant update support? Yet, Samsung kept the international Galaxy S well updated and well supported, but the US carriers never bothered. My device was left with all sorts of problems and software issues with no fixes.

So to me, no matter how "flagship" a device is being touted by the carrier, you cannot be guaranteed any type of constant updates or support, unless you get a Nexus device. You cannot count on a carrier or even an OEM to keep its word. I think it was absolutely hilarious when HTC said the ReZound was shipping "ICS Ready". They had NO idea what kind of work getting ICS on the device would be like as the source code wasn't even out then. They had not a clue about the different frameworks or how coding Sense was going to go. They can "commit" to updating it to ICS all they want, but saying it was "ICS Ready" was an outright lie for marketing purposes.

What's a "Nexus Prime"?;)

I was in Costco last night and asked when they were getting the Nexus. The lady replied were getting it as soon as we sell some of our existing phone inventory first.... lol

just stopped by my nearest authorized reseller and was told "the release date was removed from our system today, but we'll sell them when we have them". i personally couldn't get one there since i am on the rent-a-razr plan through a corporate store, but i found that comment interesting. the reason i never use resellers is because the ones around here do not follow corporate policies and generally tend to make up their own rules (i.e. denying the holiday return policy completely when i asked about it). for once, this could work in our advantage. i bet there are some other resellers out there who would gladly take your money whether corporate VZ wants them to or not.

as always:

Here is what's going on at Verizon, yesterday they sent out updated Equipment guide with a date and a price for the Nexus, I was informed from my son who works tech support that employees are not supposed to give any details or even talk about a device unless it shows in the equipment guide with both a release date and price...the two things included in yesterdays release. That brought on an onslaught of Verizon Retail employees calling potential customers making appointments, the press is talking this release date of Dec. 9th up and you can feel the excitement in the air.

Last night Verizon executives get wind of what was happening with their Retail employees and how the media had gotten wind of the Dec. 9th launch date and was basically calling it official....remember Verizon wants this to go as a soft launch and this thing blew up in their face, so how do you stop the media...their employees and how do they make more friends? They change the equipment guide and remove the release date thus closing the door on the employees being able to talk about the device...it puts out the "Coming soon" and the media jumps on that killing two birds with one stone!

As my son said, Verizon jumped the gun and included to much information on the original equipment guide and once they realized the employees were allowed to act and talk as they did because of the information provided by there own executives they had no choice but remove the release date.

My son did see the new equipment guide today and it does say "Coming Soon" but he believes that it will still be released on Friday Dec. 9th...remember Verizon has already shipped the product to retail stores and reseller stores so it is happening and soon so everyone just chill!

I agree. I just got off the phone with my mans who works retail in the Richmond VA zone. THey are very hush hush when it comes to talking about phones not in the verizon inventory , when it showed yesterday he was texting me that he just played around with the phone and blah blah. (demo version like the rest up here have agreed that is out) and told me he "thinks" the 9th. TOday we talked and i asked about the rumors i heard today. And how apple made a release date and stuck with it. He basically said apple is a conglomerate and is "on there shit" he followed tha twith saying Verizon hates official launch dates b/c there are times that they wont meet them. So after all employees starting blowin legal smoke about the nexus being dropped on the 9th Verizon shut that ish down with a new memo saying "coming soon".

I believe this . B/c 1) verizon has not once gave an official launch date, and 2) the night / day rumors weve had from yesterday to today.

I hope the phone releases Friday. I put my DX on craigslist and am meeting up with someone tomorrow for a sale. Im going to activate an old pos phone for the remaining (hopeful) 24 hrs until the nexus drops..

EDIT: I just asked if that store recieved the official stock of GNexus's. He said YES. And this isnt a "source" (to me anyways) ive known my friend for 12 years. So im standing pat on a Friday Release
