Steven: Can you do me a favor?
VZW: Sure, what?
Steven: Well, to tell you the truth, I'm the mod and OP of that famous Gnex thread on AF? Right?
VZW: Oh! Oh! Ok.. Wow. I read your stuff. Nice to meet you. I'm honored to meet you! :)
Steven: Yeah, right, whatever, kid.
VZW: (nervous laugh)
Steven: Listen, you need to me a favor.
VZW: Sure, Mr.58. Anything.
Steven: I have this mega thread on Android Forums, right?
Vzw: Um Hm.
Steven: I need you to delay or make a bogus rumor about there being a delay to up my thread post count, so no one can break my record. Can you do that?
VZW: Yessir, right away sir.
Steven: Thanks, kid.

Is the Moto Droid 4 still releasing tomorrow? If that is the case I wonder if that was part of the reason for the Friday date in the first place and now redaction of it is confirmation we will be seeing D4 tomorrow??

Bad news, just went to my local authorized retailer and they said they had in fact received word of 12/9 but it was redacted today and they were notified of a delay. I asked for accessories, they had none. Looks like I'll be hitting my nearest corp. store tonight...

I still fail to understand why Verizon won't launch this damn thing on Friday. It's ready for sale; stores have them in stock and are surely able to hand one over. Verizon can't turn back now, nor can they simply leave these phones sitting dormantly in stores for the next week.

I'll be real disappointed if I don't have my Nexus this Friday :(

Scotty,

Weren't you asking yesterday or the day before how anyone at this point could possibly not believe Friday is the day? For extra credit, I want you to answer your own question.

Oh, BTW
I live in the sticks on 10 acres 1 month ago verizon knocked on the door saying that they want to offer us fios,
My driveway is a half mile long.
I said sure do what u gotta do I'll pay for the monthly service only.
They were supposed to have it installed 2weeks ago, huh ain't seen it yet, I've had 6 different contractors here marking the property.
Next time they show up there getting the pit bull.
Verizon sucks across the board.

All I got from this was PUPPY! LOL.

if vzw knows something is up and is actively trying to find a solution to this LTE issue they are having, it makes perfect sense they would delay the nexus because of this. im sure the vast majority of the people buying it will be coming from a 3g device, and adding all that extra strain to the LTE network probably would just make it worse. not to mention is people bought it and immediately had lte problems they would blow the internet up with reports of problems, etc, making a pr nightmare and a customer service nightmare

As soon as the 9th date changed to "coming soon" they knew it was delayed. That was yesterday long before the 4G started having issues.

Now for some OT good news - Saw this on Slick Deals, they ripped it from AC

There might be a way to get unlimited data...

Get unlimited data on Verizon Wireless (4G phone needed) ymmv
For those who purchased a Verizon smartphone after the unlimited data ended, you can still get unlimited data by calling *611 and asking them to add unlimited MHS. A 4G phone is required. You may have to be persistent, and it may take several calls, but I was able to do it with one call. A "perk" of adding unlimited MHS is that you will be pushed to unlimited data as well, according to the rep I talked to. I checked online, and sure enough, my friend's account that I was trying it on had unlimited data and unlimited MHS. If at a future time, you feel you do not need MHS, you can cancel mhs (you can do it online) and it has been reported that you still keep unlimited data.

When i talked to the rep, at first, he was trying to get me to switch to a data plan that had data and mhs. This is not what you want, you want to have the mhs as a feature addon.

ymmv of course on these types of promos.

edit: mhs = mobile hot spot

You get primo reps for providing this link! Totally worked for me!! Now I have unlimited data! Wooooohoooo!:D

FIOS is worth every penny and wait. Will you have billing errors? Likely! But I am on the 35/35 package and get 42 down and 33 up constantly (meaning no spikes. I can max my download for hours at 42 down (5.1 Mb/sec)). This comes in handy when downloading game clients (I had to download the Star Wars : the Old Republic beta twice in 3 weeks. 20+ GB! It only took around 2 hours. Amazing.)

My story:

Called the local Corp Store...

Me: Hey I was calling to see if I could come in and buy a Gnex on Friday.

Rep: Ummm, welll, it was supposed to go on sale Friday. Then they said its been delayed.

Me: Gotcha, can I get on a waiting list or something?

Rep: Well I have 2 appointments Saturday morning (I assume for Gnexs) and I can add you to that list if you'd like.

Me: Awesome, sign me up.

Rep: Gotcha down @ 10. I will give you a call tomorrow if anything changes.

The feeling I got was, I will be walking out of that store with a Gnex on Friday unless things get worse.

Short work today after a morning meeting. Hit up corporate and reseller on the way home.

Corporate - no phones or accessories, emailed about the delay, no update.

Reseller - none of the above, although they DID just get in a UPS shipment. I asked them to open the boxes in front of me, which they did (surprisingly) and no Nexus or accessories.

Moral of the story: Why the heck are we so far behind all these other stores in receiving stuff? It's not like we're (no offense here, of course) backwoods Iowa or something. Seattle, if I'm not mistaken, is closer to Korea than the East Coast....Am I right? Where are our phones?

I don't follow ... how would that be stupid? Stupid would be to release a high-profile LTE device to customers who are mostly new to LTE, only to have them find that it doesn't work when they get it home. . . . .

What would you rather have:

Walk in on Friday and finally be able to buy the Nexus. The rep tells you "4G works fine, but there is a nation-wide outage right now, and we're expecting it to be up and running on Monday morning at the latest. In the mean time, you can still use 3G and wifi no problem."

Or would you rather suffer through the crap we're going through right now?

They should just give us the damn thing and let us choose for ourselves whether we want to buy it knowing that 4G is spotty for a weekend than to retract December 9 and slink back into the shadows watching us squirm.

I got the feeling that they're gonna try to sell you a R-phone on Friday.

Honestly though I would be perfectly fine with them pushing back the release date for the 4g outage (if it lasts till then) if they just said hey look we were going to release it but our network is having issues sorry. You can expect it as soon as we get it up and running.

Friday or Saturday? You said you'll get one on Friday but Rep said 2 appts Saturday morning, so which is it?

incorrect. their were spotty 4g issues starting yesterday, as reported by droid life last night. and if they were made aware by tips from their readers, you best believe that vzw already knew about it far before then

Since I don't have 4G in Mayberry Indiana, I think I'd be ok with the issues.

I am sure that if anything worthwhile is talked about in the G+ hangout with Matias, every Android news site will hear about it.
