So i went into radioshacks, verizon stores and best buys today in manhattan and was getting stonewalled by all of them except one store i finally had a breakthrough (not in manhattan). It was at a radioshack, and they only had one in stock. I tried my best to trick the guy to sell it to me then, but after 20 mins of him going through his computer trying to find a sell permission and calling a supervisor he said it wouldn't be available until this sunday. He let me hold and touch the phone. It was straight out of the box so it wasnt powered up. It felt amazing in the hand though. Anyway he let me reserve it for this sunday and he wrote my name and number on the box to make it official. I made him double check twice that it would be available this sunday, and i called 3 hours after i left to check again. he said I could definitely pick it up at 930am sunday morning. Fingers are crossed that this is not a cruel trick!

I am still hearing from my provider (he personally owns over 40 Verizon Retailer Stores) that they could drop the bomb within the next 3 days. Mine and my wife's are in his store local to me ready to be adopted.
#hopeful

the future Mrs. Trophy has to work a night shift tonight. So this guy will be getting drunk off of Pizza and Diet Sundrop and gaming it up all night on some #MW3

I will be on MW3 after my night out with the princess...late night...buddies and I try to get in some late night gaming in on the weekend once in a while and tonight is the night. Gamertag is the same as here. :)

OFF TOPIC VIDEO GAME TALK:

you guys ps3 or 360? if ps3, add me zx10intn and we'll sulk together while taking our rage out on kill confirmed dog tags

Can't tell if you're joking haha but:
ehhhh, no offense, but that analogy doesn't really work, those 16 1TB drives could be WAY faster than that 1 16TB drive if setup properly in a raid. The reason it costs so much is because you're only using 1 drive bay and it's "easier" to manage. I wouldn't want to deal with a drive failure with a hard drive that huge though, that scares the living crap out of me

16 1TB drives in any raid configuration doesn't equal 16TB of disk space. Plus, you would then need a storage appliance of some sort to manage them. Something like an HP X5520 G2 16TB LFF which runs a cool $27328.42 PROVANTAGE: Ratings and Reviews of X5520 G2 16TB LFF 7.2K-Network Storage System By Hewlett Packard HP

So I figure what the heck. I going to the RadioShack store. I told the guy I want to upgrade my phone.

Long story short? The guy tells me the nexus just arrived in the present shipment. He tells me he wants to sell me the phone right now.

Fine I figured. Let's give this a try. Well the nexus shipment is not there. Funny that the iPhone was though!

The guy still didn't know the phone was delayed! I have to confess, my heart did Skip just a little wee bit of a beat for a second.

Now I'm stuck in traffic on my way to get back to work. Oh well God's judgment on me I guess.

Steven, I'm surprised you fell for this. I predict there will be a number of disappointed guys come Sunday.

It sounds like all we need is the sku to be unlocked, and at least non-corporate sales will probably happen. With the way Verizon has handled it so far, I expect them to screw that up too. I wouldn't be surprised if it was available sunday.

btw every verizon corporate and non corporate in lower manhattan wouldnt even admit if they had any in stock or had a demo they could show me. I willing to buy this at any retail store even though i have a better discount if its online.

One thing to keep in mind. The "announcement" you're referring to was not made by Verizon, but Verizon announced the other phones you mentioned. Not trying to be a Verizon fanboy here, but just because Google announced the device, doesn't mean it was already up to Verizon's testing standards.

Verizon fully announced they would be selling it... they even have a page dedicated to sign up for information about it. They never announced a release date though.

I've been to a few Best Buys and Corporate stores in Alexandra and no luck. Most of the Best Buys have them in stock now, just cant sell it..

Here I am back again (made it about, what, 15 minutes?)

I'm in downtown DC. Thinking about stopping in at the Best Buy in Columbia Heights on Sunday, just in case. You never know. Did any of them indicate a release date?

I don't know what to think anymore... Called another store and he said "I don't know, I just got in, let me check...." was on hold for a few "As of now it's the 12th, but I'll put your name on a list if it's before then"

I called a store this morning and they told me the 15th.

i just called that store in NJ and the rep said something about only being allowed to sell them on the 11th which is Sunday, he took my name and number and said he'll be there the 11th and he also said the phone is increadible. He's going to give me a call if they are able to definitely sell on Sunday.

for all the people who say they are getting gn's activated, how is it possible? I just got off the phone with a radioshack who says they have them in stock but even if he tried to sell me one all of the esn's are blocked. If you went through corporate they would easily deny activation as well- they would spot the esn like bacon on a cake.

So once this blasted thing finally drops, what's the best place to buy it? Corporate store? Authorised reseller? Best Buy? Radio Shack? I've always been a little unclear on the relative advantages and disadvantages of each. Do you gain or lose something by choosing one shop over another?
Third-party retailers have the advantage of accepting gift cards and things like that which can be put toward purchases. They also often offer better warranties, or, in the case of Costco, bundles that end up saving you quite a bit of money. Costco's Nexus bundle at $289 is expected to include a dock, car charger, and possibly other accessories as well. However, I'll still be trying to buy at a corporate store first, as I'm going to try to persuade them to knock $100 off the price with the mailer posted on Droid-Life earlier today.

Well I do get a discount with ATT at my new job I snagged in october. I think im done with Verizon. Ive been waiting two months to do something nice for myself, which was the SGN.

I think im going to take my 20% discount and order the GSM model and sell the iP 4s I get when starting the account. That should be good for a 4-500 dollar profit I can use towards the new model. I owe it to myself anyway. Just graduated, got a new job, passed the series 7 with a 90%..

I dont even use LTE on my TBolt anyway. Im letting it go VZW. You just lost my business is all. No worries for either of us. Good like guys and gals

I so believe in Verizon and the word-of-mouth announcement of what store employees have supposedly been told that, come the 15th, I am going to smash my Dinc as I know I will be able to experience the bliss of an Ice Cream Sandwich-induced freeze-ache.

Curiously (and fortunately), when you Google image "smash Droid Incredible," this is included in page 2 of the results:

Go figure.

So, I mentioned earlier that the Best Buy Mobile store that I called this morning stated that they most recent news they had would be that the Nexus is selling from them on Sunday. I know there are a few more of the same type of story going around...

Could this be related to that screenshot we saw of Nexus phones being delivered to Best Buy on Sunday the 11th? I'm not sure where it is, but if someone happens to recall and could post a pic of that...

To clarify, I'm proposing that this screen could be why they assume a sale date of the 11th.

random thought for those of us who have a 12/29 upgrade date and (like me so far, unfortunately) haven't been able to get their upgrade date moved up...

buying the phone at full retail doesn't affect your upgrade date, right? so, if it really IS the 15th - what would stop us from buying the thing on launch day at full retail, and then return/rebuy on the 29th to get the upgrade price? would verizon allow that?

Called VZW about changing my upgrade date from 12/29 to 12/9. They said I was eligible for an early upgrade but it would cost me $20, and I wouldn't qualify for my $50 discount.
