***Official Galaxy Nexus Pre-Release speculation thread**

I find it extremely bizarre how none of my local stores say they have the Nexus. Like I said earlier, I was going to stop by some stores tonight but I still haven't gotten the chance to do that (maybe tomorrow?), but even then, none of the 3rd party stores have it. Am I in a Nexus-deprived location?! :(

They are just tired of you bugging and harassing them so that is why they say that so you will leave them alone.....

i realize a lot of you do not like P3 but we all know he does/did have some good inside info...remember he did have an engineering/test device we are waiting to get our hands on...FWIW I decided to tweet him about the GW v ISIS issue...

@txtom76: @P3Droid what do you think of the rumor of Google Wallet vs. ISIS holding the phone up?

@P3Droid: @txtom76 Pure and utter hogwash !!!!

so does he know or not...nobody really knows...what i do know is I'll get this phone when and if it is released!!!

I thought that was King Missile. I have not heard that in a really long time. :)

I was sitting in a Lowes parking lot waiting for the snow to blow through when it came on the radio. Since I have Nexus on the brain, my subconscious swapped out the lyrics for me on the fly. :D

This is not necessarily true. Verizon can't scrap the phone altogether, but they can sure as heck refuse to sell it out of their stores and honor 2 year upgrade prices on it. Basically, (this is just a hunch, I wouldn't know for sure without viewing the contract) at this point I think they are locked into allowing the phones onto their network, but they aren't obligated in any way to support, sell, or honor the phones outside of that.

I could see this becoming a huge fiasco where you basically have the equivalent of a stock of unlocked LTE Nexus-es. They would only be available at 3rd party stores, ie. BB, Costco, Radioshack...etc, and only at full retail.

Except all of those sell on contract and the only way it would be sold full retail is if google sold it which isnt going to happen.

I'd be ok with this scenario. Just get the phones on the shelves. ANY shelves! ANY! And I'll happily find a suitable end for my MotoDroid.

So just walked into a Verizon corporate store in NY and purchased an Otterbox Defender case as well as screen protectors, an MHL cable, and the extended battery. Also apparently if you buy two or more accessories you get 20% off. Looks like they markup up pretty high eh?

FYI, I don't think anyone else on any forums has purchased an Otterbox case for the phone yet. I guess you can consider this news that they're are being made and available already for purchase but you have to ask for them yourself. :)

EDIT: More details: They have a Defender series case that's more rugged and comes with a holster (the one I got) and a Commuter series case that's less rugged with no holster but has a nice plastic finish and cheaper.

Good to know. All the info I had prior to this was located here.

I am trying to get a screenshot of the internal memo issued to Best Buy employees telling them to lie to customers. The girl that tried to sell me the Galaxy Nexus is my brother in laws sister and I have a text in to her asking for her to send me the shot. If she does then I will post it here.

Also, I found out that I have another contact at a Verizon Corporate store. My wife used to work with him and he is also promising me "inside" info in the future. Interesting to see how many people I never knew that I knew that worked for Verizon in one way or another.

I know this was probably covered somewhere while I was at work, but what happened to all the costcos that were still promising 12/9 ?

Lots of these guys 'promised' and nobody delivered. Until VZW makes it official, don't look for anyone to be delivering...and I'm not talking about one or two oddball sales that somehow got through the system.

am i the only one who finds it extremely crappy to go to these stores and try and buy the phone early?
I just think its extremely selfish to go to a store and try and get a phone early knowing that they arent supposed to sell it and knowing they will probably lose their job because of it. Yes i know the one person called corporate and they told them not to sell it and they did anyway, which means that person probably shouldnt have a job anyway but they wouldnt have been put in that position if the person hadnt gone in and asked in the first place knowing full well they werent supposed to sell it.

I am no twitter expert. I dont tweet much, but I follow a bunch of folks and organizations and I use it for my main mews/interests feed. I never use RSS feeds anymore. When the natural disasters happen where ever, you can get immediate tweets from people on the ground and news. It really is amazing.

Trends
from the home screen, look at the right side. There are the trends. You can change where you want to see trends from. Worldwide, USA, Major cities, etc. Poke around and find this.

Most trends come from Hashtags. Those are the words that look like this #vzwnexusfail. Or #earthquake or #whatever. When you see a hashtag that interests you, click on it and it will do a search for that #hashtag. Then you can see what everybody is #hashtagging about. That's all I know about hashtags.

This is one of my tweets.

@VerizonWireless @VZWnews #GalaxyNexus is #OnMyWishList it could help me #WinBig Should have gotten it on #Fridayyy but got #vzwNexusFAIL

Ofcourse the @ is directing the message to a specific user. These are known "addresses" or you can name search and find their twitter name. In this one, I sent it to @VerizonWireless and @VZWnews. I hashtagged #GalaxyNexus and the rest. I got the weird looking #'s from the current top trending in the USA. When I did this, my tweet showed up in those top trends. This is the message to you. Include top trending hashtags in your tweet and many others will see it. Someone will see it and be interested, they will click it to see what is going on with those other hashtags. They may re-tweet to all their followers. Thats how you recruit others to your "cause", "fun" or your attempt to trend.

That's all I know and how I use it.

Thanks!

True, but they are only out shipping cost on that. They wouldn't be eating any of the manufacturing costs. I think it will come down to Google having to settle or a lawsuit, the latter of which doesn't bode well for us getting the phone in the next 7 days.

They would also be out the # of units they agreed to buy when they were to be exclusive carrier at first. They aren't getting off scotch free if you think that is the only thing they are paying is for shipping.

Yes you are the only one. Nobody is forcing you to go in and do it so why do you care what others choose to do? If you do not agree with it then 1. don't do it, or 2. ignore the posters who try.

Ok guys so about that $100 toward any 4G phone promo they were running. I just received mine...except for the part where it's advertising the $30 "loyalty" (aka "we took away your NE2, so here's something to placate you") that I already knew about. Is there any way to contact CSR and see WTF? Has anyone had any luck with this?

I agree with a caveat. If my VZW guy called me right now and said "come in I'll sell you one", I would haul ass down there. But when I got there, I would make sure to let him know not to do it if it would get anyone in trouble/fired/etc. If he said it was fine, I would purchase the phone.

Uhhh, simple solution. Find an employee that is about to quit (there have to be a few) and buy from them.
