Crazy! I was just at the same RadioShack on a whim. Got to see the phone in all its glory...can't wait. Couldn't sell it, though. Took my info down, so I'll be getting a call sometime soon :)

I just called that store (it would be about an hour drive for me), and the guy said they have stock but I can't play with one, they can't ring it up on the computer, and they wouldn't be able to take a written payment form...!@#$%^&*

Honestly, i really don't understand all this hush hush about release dates. We're not talking about the release of information on intellectual property that somebody might sell to another country. We're not talking about the release of military secrets that somebody might use to create nuclear weapons. We're talking about a dang phone. When gaming companies delay a product, they give a reason, they announce information, they address their consumers. Even car companies, computer companies, etc. Companies have a responsibility to the public, aka their shareholders. You do not withhold information. If they truly were greedy, they'd sell the phone. You don't make any profit if you don't sell anything. Honestly if they continue operating like this, I can see them faltering like many Corporations that have poor PR strategy.
The answer is quite simple, even if people still refuse to believe it.

Verizon doesn't want to miss a release date. They ensure they won't miss a date, because they'll only announce the date they day before.

Take the GNex for example. They could've given us a Nov date, and then what would we be saying if they missed it. How about Dec 9th? Now they have issues with Isis/GW before going live and it gets delayed again.

We (the tech minority) obsess over dates, yet the general public doesn't. If a date gets announced and the general media pick up on that, imaging the ensuing firestorm.

And Verizon faltering? The wireless company with the largest profits, largest customer base, most growth, and most reliable network is going to falter. I'm not sure you thought that one through.

I was actually going to order a Galaxy Note to use with AT&T and just forget about any other phones, but you guys have me so excited for the Galaxy Nexus....I can't take it anymore, I'm going nuts :D

I've been using a 10 dollar go phone for 5 months

Why not import the GSM version?

While a lot of you are complaining about Verizon I thought I might change up the mood here a bit and focus on everything that I like about Verizon:

  • Having a grandfathered unlimited data plan
  • Having the most reliable network with the best coverage
  • Having my data unthrottled
  • Having blazing fast 4G LTE in almost 200 markets
  • Top customer service out of the big 4 carriers
  • Reasonable pricing
  • Not AT&T ;)

Feel free to add to the list. :)

I keep reading here and there about the low volume or weak external speaker.

This was the deal breaker for me with the Dinc2 I tried.

I do not have hearing issues but am spoiled by the OG Droid's very good speaker volume.

Do you guys think it's hardware limited or can it be tweaked with software?

Gosh with a little road noise or the phone in my pocket I want to know I have a chance to hear it ring or the navigation speaking street names and turns.

Will you guys getting your paws on the phones try out some ring tones with it turned all the way up? I know this will be the 1st thing I hit.

Thanks for saving me the frustration...

Is no one else worried about this whole ISIS/Google Wallet dispute rumor? This has potential to not only cancel the phone entirely, but screw all future Nexus phones on Verizon. Verizon will not be pushed around and would rather cut all ties with Google than be told what to do. I for one am very scared, and no I am not exaggerating or kidding in any way. :(

Verizon throttles data. But i agree with your other points.

I think that could be fixed with a simple ota and then it would show up in the market. The funny thing is only the sprint cdma nexus s has it now yet nobody is up in arms about that?

For what it's worth, which isn't much since everyone has an opinion and yada yada, and if you guys saw my last few posts you already knew this, but I'm not buying the Google Wallet/ISIS excuse. Unless Verizon REALLY wants Google Wallet and Google is denying them, that is the only way it makes any sense, which it makes no sense anyways because Google doesn't want to hold up it's own device any longer. Just another conspiracy theory to get everyone all riled up. I'm agreeing with P3 here....hogwash.

Oh yeah, and I like pro wrestling. Don't care if it's scripted. But you guys who say it isn't real are wrong in a sense. It is real. The people doing what you say aren't computer generated images. They are real people in a real ring. Now, they are not REALLY kicking the crap out of each other, but they are performing some amazing feats and putting on a great form of entertainment. And to let you all in on a little secret, you have to be a HELL of an athlete to do it. You guys roll your eyes and laugh at us who watch or are entertained because it is "scripted", but how is it any different than being sucked in by a good video game because it has a good story, or a movie because it has great actors and a great plot? I suspend my disbelief when I play a Final Fantasy or Halo or Metal Gear Solid or Uncharted game, even though deep down I KNOW they are just pre-programmed pixels on a screen, because I enjoy it more that way.

I guess I'm just Mr. Controversial today!

Oh yeah, and there is NO EASTER BUNNY! That guy...he's just a guy in suit!

:D

I think the main reason they wait to announce phones until the last minute (especially during high selling periods), is that they don't want to snipe sales from one phone while people wait for another to come out...

one of the reviews of the LTE version said the speaker was loud enough. cant remember where I heard it though - but I remember specifically because I had some same concern

The volume was low. I tried watching the first video ton Youtube hat popped up on the unit I was buying today. The video was Avatar trailer. I could barely hear it in store. I thought it must not be turned up so as I tried to turn it up, I realized it was up all the way. Not really all that disturbing to me. I rarely use the speakerphone. I can see it causing some problems.

Although I read about it earlier, I know it's only on 3G and only if the specific tower is congested. I have yet to see any affect of this in the 6 months I've been with them now. So far I am extremely happy with the service. :)
