Steinheil screen protectors: doing a quick search I'm finding the Flex Series and Ultra Oleophobic Series. That photo of the older Steinheils showed Crystal Clear Series. Did Flex replace Crystal Clear? I don't want something that will dull the clarity of this beautiful screen.

good morning nexicans! what's the good word today??

OT:
is there a "hangover" mode for this forum? the white background and lime green are taking their toll on me right now.

Oh well. He'll still call me when it becomes available, and I said okay, but I'll probably just end up getting it in the city whenever Verizon decides to grow a brain.

This will be my last phone with those idiots.

Until they entice you with their next piece of crack, er um, tech.

Y'know, I'm starting to think that this entire Nexus release is turning into Verizon's own version of Alice in Wonderland. The original quote is:

Jam tomorrow, and jam yesterday, but never jam today.
Verizon seems to have settled on:

Nexus tomorrow, and Nexus next week, but never Nexus today.
Of course, the obvious reply to all that is:

"What other carriers in the US have you beaten in releasing the Nexus?" the Android Forums asked.

"Nobody," said Verizon.

"Quite right," said the Android Forums. "So of course, Nobody releases the the Nexus slower than you."

Does anybody else find it funny that best buy's internal memos have a +1/-1 button!?!:D

it looks like this one has been up voted 13 times

yeah that is pretty odd. Why would corporate care if those reading liked it or not. I guess maybe its just a default feature on which ever program they use.

Or maybe if enough people -1 it then maybe they will change their stance and realease it afterall.;)

As promised . . . The INTERNAL Best Buy document.

That is not uncommon in retail - in my experience. The company line was not to lie the customer "directly", but to tell them we don't have any information on when that item will be released, or when it can be sold. They are basically telling you the truth because they really don't have a release date. Plus, if it is company policy not to release information about stock levels, their proverbial backsides are covered.

i just dont get the whole secrecy thing... whats the point of having stores and retailers telling people "we dont have inventory, know nothing and dont know when we will know anything" instead of simply saying "yes, we have stock but we arent authorized by vzw to sell them yet", oh thats right, because people will realize verizon doesnt make any damn sense

I was just curious (newb question) but if there were OTA updates to fix issues for the current version of the OS wouldn't the phones need to be on or would the updates be sent through after we receive them so it'll still be buggy only to be fixed shortly after we actually have them in our hands. There's no way that they would actually recall all the phones now would they!?!

Wasn't there someone just a few minutes ago who was being rung up at the Radio Shack? What happened to that?

I just called a few in my area, and the only one that was forthcoming said that they received emails early this morning telling them to put all stock inside a cage, lock them up, and ignore them until Verizon gives a release date.

Frakking nazi's.

The manager at my local RS told me the same thing. He has 1 in stock, yes ONE in stock, and it has my name on the box. I stopped by yesterday and he went and got it out of its cage and let me unbox it. I thought about running, but I didn't.

So one thing just occurred to me--how close to an NFC element do you have to have the phone to get it to register? I'm wondering specifically if an especially thick case could cause problems. Presumably something like the TPU case should be fine, but would something like an Otterbox add enough space between the phone and the outside that NFC would have trouble? Or does NFC work across gaps of an inch or so, which would mean there's no problem?

That's the same for me except I haven't gone into the store yet but it seems that they might be able to ring it up 'somehow' if you can persuade them. Apparently, they really want these phones to sell for their own commission. I'll let you know how it goes for me later but personally I'd hate to open one in public where my 'precious' is exposed out in the open lol :p I love to unbox in the safety of my own home! :D

I'm sure they gave this consideration. from the videos I've seen I would say about 2 inches works very well.

Has anyone with a radio shack store offered to give them the cash for the device and give them your name and ID and tell them to ring it up when it goes official.
