***Official Galaxy Nexus Pre-Release speculation thread**

Not open for further replies.
Been following this thread but first time posting. Forgive me if this has already been reported.

I am in NYC and seen some on this thread had checked out the Nexus at Samsung Experience in the AOL building. I had not had a chance to get over there but decided to go to dinner in the AOL building tonight so I figured I would stop by and check it out. I am llooking all over for it and cannot find it. Finally a rep comes over and asks me if I need help. I told him I was looking for the Nexus demo unit. He said the phone has not been released. I said the phone has been on display here earlier this week and he says "well it is not and the phone has not been released and they do not display it." I explained the phone had been released throughout the world just not in the US. At this point He had a real attitude about the whole thing and I decided to just leave.

There store is full of items not released and "protype" gadgets so I an shocked this was his response. Further this seems like bad news since it was here last week and now gone. Anyone else have a similiar experience at Samsung Experience? If Samsung has pulled this from their flagship demo store I wonder what further implications this has. Keep in mind (from what heard) these demo phones when on display where not even activated on VZW so it is not like they were violating any agreement with VZW by displaying it.

As for Nexus reports in the city, I have found two stores that have inventory but of course are not selling them until VZW Ok's it. These have been authorized retailers, corp stores will not say anything about the phone other then it is delayed.

Welcome! Sorry you couldn't get more information. Seems to be a common issue

Two great fights indeed. I wasn't a huge UFC fan until a few years ago but I have now come to really love it!

More UFC spoilers OT

Definitely did not expect that turnaround in the Mir fight. From unconscious to breaking Nog's arm that fast was insane. And Jones has been my favorite for awhile now - got a little scare in the first round, but once he landed that elbow you could tell it was only a matter of time. I honestly thought he was going to snap Machida's neck if the ref didn't stop in. Watching Machida's arm go limp and collapse after the fight I thought he might have been a goner. Wow, is Jon Jones fun to watch, can't wait for the inevitable Jones/Evans fight.

G'night all - gotta go to work and sell some snowboards tomorrow.

Does he realize the phone will get used even more than the purse?

That's a valid point and he should...I always have either that or my iPad in my hand. Problem is, I was practically drooling over the Rezound right in front of him. He keeps saying even that's more phone than I need. Is it true we won't get the discounts on the GN they were giving on the Rezound?

Night!

For what it's worth guys I was in another Charlotte, NC corporate store tonight picking up a new case for my wifes iPhone and they did confirm they have about 50 GNEX's in stock but can't sell them. The tech told me that it is indeed the wallet/isis issue. He said he thinks that it will be resolved shortly and has heard that the 15th is the date. He said there is too much money at stake for all involved and he thinks Verizon will cave and just release the phone.

I know it's a store rep but just wanted to relay what I was told tonight.

Anyone else think the Google Wallet thing is just a scapegoat to make up for the delays?

I don't think we know that 100% yet

There was an article about this but yea Verizon stormed into Samsung's territory and practically forced them to take it down and lectured them into not displaying a phone that hasn't been released. I was going to check it out too until I saw the article and the lengths Verizon is going to, to keep this Nexus into total lockdown.

Google is the ice cream truck owner - Samsung (Nexus) is the Ice Cream Sandwich - Verizon is the jerk cop that tickets the Ice Cream Truck Owner before I even get my Ice Cream Sandwich and now I have no idea when the Owner will ever be back again :(

I know 200% it is. Like I have said in previous post its IMPOSSIBLE that wallet is being blocked. Ether every other carrier that sells a Nexus S and the Gnex are blocking wallet, or what is actually happening (read:REALITY/TRUTH)

Google is blocking it themselves.

The unlocked/unbranded Nexus S not being able to install Google Wallet (without hacking it on) validates my argument.

Period :D

So to see people at stores, and the sources say this, and it to go to the front page of many Android sites is troubling.

As good as your restaurant sounds, being a student at THE university of south carolina, I dont think i could step foot in that town.

Also, On burgers, Anyone enjoy Cookout?

OT, one more time:

at this point we pretty much have an entire "secret menu" available to our regulars. vegetarian meals, mixtures of wing sauces, low carb options, etc. if it gets ordered enough, we make a button for it.

the kitchen certainly does enjoy going off the menu. we have at least 10 wraps, sandwiches, and other dishes on our "secret menu" that were created by the guys back there. we don't advertise any of it, but strike up a friendly conversation with a staff member about their favorite things to eat and all will be revealed.

Hah that's fun. I'm the executive sous chef at a golf and country club here in central NJ. We've got a lot of great secret specials for the staff as well. Lot's of sandwiches named after their creators. I actually had a Chriswich today. Chicken fingers with bacon and melted pepperjack cheese on a pan toasted bun with ranch dressing. Nice..

About the members though, basically I have about 500 bosses out there. And though we do try to make everyone happy on some nights it's just not possible. In the middle of the weeds last weekend a filet comes back because the woman wanted it "more round" "@#$%^ what? lol Or, "Are there any other other specials back here". Yeah, we buy products and spend our time prepping them, don't tell any one about them, then throw them out at the end of the shift. Just so we don't get rusty.

Anyway, if you are interested I have a collection of instructional prep videos on my youtube channel focusing on Japanese knives, meat, poultry veggie and fish fabrication, sushi rolling and sometimes just general Japanese knife skill techniques and badassery. Check it out if you wish.

I can't post vids yet I believe and I'm sorry for the off topicness though I do hope you enjoy some of my vids sometime.

What restaurant/bar/eatin' place do you work at? I'm localish, so I might've been there a time or twelve.

The way you bolded everything and used the different smileys made me read this as a Rowdy Roddy Piper promo.

Kudos to you good sir, you have just won 4 internets.

More dribble from the earp:

Well, I do not intend this post to be 'baiting' nor 'attacking' nor anything else that (I hope) the mods need to 'infraction' me for.

But I keep seeing the word delayed in so many posts here I feel I must say something about that word. Delayed implies that VZW made an official announcement and then had to back away from it. The speculation that a 'delay' has to do with the google wallet, the recent LTE outage, aliens landing, John
Wilkes Booth coming back to life, nor my defense of P3Droid and Lee Harvey Oswald is IMHO null and void.

...

Why does something need to be announced to be considered delayed? The announcement itself was delayed.

Let's say that a company has internal, unannounced, plans to announce and sell a new product on 12/9. The company's plans change for some reason and the company waits until 12/15, at which time the company announces and starts selling the product. The announcement and sale of the product can be considered delayed.

New poster to the forum, and have been lurking for weeks.

Had a visit to VZW company store in FtMyers, FL this evening an had a VERY positive and helpfull experience with an associate. He was happy to "demo" the Gnex and offered that they have more than 30 waiting for sale once release date has been announced. He explained that while the battery life would not be "exceptional", that an "extended life battery" would be availabe for an additional charge. Also, his location would be offering free Gnex classes on saturdays after release to help customers become familiar with all the features. I expect this may be an effort to promote Google+, but who cares. Finally, regarding release date, he was non-commital, but offered that advertising would be "Heavy" shortly prior to release. (anybody have a hook with whomever creates advertizing for VZW?) I left after 30 uninterupted minutes whil trying not to drool on my size 13s.

Which store on Fort Myers? I'm in Port Charlotte but was in Fort Myers all day. I almost stopped at the store on 41 near Costco around 7:00ish but decided against it.
