Root The road to Android ICS 4.0 on the Triumph

I would be interested in helping to finishing this rom. There's one problem though I don't know how to exactly. I do have a Triumph and love your cm7 rom. We're very grateful to have a developer like you. I can use my dads professional design software(Adobe CS4) that he has on his mac if that is possible. If you could give me a link or something to show me everything i need to help finish this rom and how to!

It's more about debugging/compiling/fixing errors

CS4 Production Suite has nothing to do with Android dev, unless you want to skin a new theme etc...

Best thing to do is donate!

Well, I'm a little confused... What's happening in the pictures below? Oh, that's right. ICS now has basic RIL support. :)

I got the radio partially working (no data, yet) in ICS/CM9. I'm able to make and receive calls and SMS text messages. The CM7 RIL patch isn't directly applicable to ICS, so I'm making some changes to get everything working correctly. However, this is big. My buddy actually called me while I was working on this and I was surprised he could hear me.

I used root explorer and replaced the egl folder on my phone and it worked.... I restarted and it booted fine. Although I don't seem to notice any difference...

did your screen go black then come back on if it did then ive gotten it to work on stock :) what i did was copy all the .so file over to the systems egl folder i left the stock cfg file there i got a black screen and it came back on i rebooted to check and it works

EDIT what can i use to test this? graphics test?

no my screen didn't go black... I just replaced the folder then rebooted my phone... And for testing you can use nenamark 1 and 2 or antutu, or I'm sure there are more...

issac, you know. You keep telling us you're going to stop developement for the Triumph, but you just keep on putting out awesome stuff like this. What is it? Are you done or aren't you? ;)

I'm gonna guess he wants to continue porting (if he keeps the Triumph) just because he wants ICS personally, but doesn't want the expectations of updating/bug fixing from other people. On the other hand, pretty hard to not share this stuff knowing a lot of people want it too.

Don't remind him! lol

I'm gonna guess that as long as he doesn't run into anything that really stumps him that he'll keep going until he has something stable. At which point he'll release it. And if he doesn't then that's fine too because he's always had his source available to the public and I haven't ever seen anything saying he'd take it down. That might even be best so that others will HAVE to step up and take over.

Ok so I found out the updated drivers weren't even installing... I said to overwrite the folder but I looked inside it and noticed that it just put it there... So i deleted the root egl folder and replaced and it goes to the boot screen then black screen... But maybe someone can make it work.

Thats what I was getting but the hardware acceleration egl boots if you replace the folder in the zip before you flash your rom I tested it on the stock deodex but trying it with other roms like cm7 might give better results

Will donate when I get the chance. I've been following all of your work and very interested in helping. Was planning on tackling ics myself but although I have Ubuntu 10.04 LTS, it's on a dell mini with 8GB HD and 64 mb of video RAM. Needless to say, until next semester permits that I get a new computer, I'm out of luck. I'm actually going to school right now for software engineering and engineering physics with an application in to google for an internship. Android is right up my alley. Any pointers would be great and if you're up to the task of sending a noob a couple of tips send me a message. Again THANKS FOR EVERYTHING! I wake up everyday looking for the next progression in your CM9.

You should of knocked on wood...

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but the charging/USB port no longer works on my Triumph. I was going to try out the libs you guys posted, but when I went to push them, ADB was still waiting for the device. I thought it might be the cable, but none of my other cables worked and no charge was sent when I plugged the phone in the wall. I guess the constant wear and tear eventually beat my Triumph. It's kind of depressing to slowly watch my battery die. Sigh.

FWIW, I'm going to go to my local cell store some time this week to see if it's just the cable. What concerns me is that I hear the click when I plug in my cable, but I don't get anything. I'll talk with VM to see if I can't get a replacement (Triumph's have a 1 year warranty, right?)

To those who donated after December 1, 2011, You'll be receiving an email from me some time tomorrow. For now, I will no longer accept any donations as I cannot work on the phone (the link will be removed from my sig). Furthermore, it's Christmas time! Spend that money on yourself or loved ones. :)

As for ICS, I will be updating my "build CM7 thread." Those curious to see what progress I've made (or lack thereof) can check it out for themselves. I'll see about putting together an extreme alpha build package for curious users to play with.

I'll be going off the radar for a little bit as I have finals this week. It's gonna suck having to go back to my Optimus lol. But hey, that phone's a trooper.

That sucks!!!!:( But yea you should be able to get a replacement from VM. And good luck on your finals!:D

I will miss you! as most people probably will! :D

yeah i had the same thing happen to my first triumph hopefully VM replaces yours since the triumph is kinda fragile

I would be more than happy to double my donation, for you to buy another Triumph.

Please keep what I have sent, my family is already spoiled with too much stuff.

Here's hoping VM replaces your MT.

I'm so thankful for this! Thank you guys so much for working on it. I also come here every day just to check up on progress. It'll really be a dream come true if it becomes functional.

I'm sure those of us who donated find it worth it. It's not just for the work you are doing, but also for all that you've already done.

If you can't get another Triumph via warranty, You can have mine or I'll get my work discount so you can have another. For all you've done here I'm sure we will all find a way to get you into another phone if needed.

Good luck on the finals. I'm sure you'll do great! =]

Oh and if we don't see you again before that day....MERRY CHRISTMAS!... And hope to see you before New Years..

Nooooooo! Hopefully they'll replace your phone. The only good news about this phone (& there's actually quite a bit of it) is because of your hard work. If VM/Moto don't have the good sense to keep you equipped with all you've done then they're risking the loss of customers.
As for my donation, it's been earned plus some. I wouldn't consider taking it back.
Deal with finals & enjoy xmas. After the holidays if you haven't obtained a new phone & want to continue development just post up here.

They will definitely send you a replacement I just got one in the mail myself. I just emailed social care about the lack of gps, they made me reset and reactivate, but that still didn't work, so after that they sent out a replacement phone and it arrived two days later. Thanks for all you hard work I just found this forum this week and installed CM7 on my triumph. Can't wait to see what he future holds for us with Triumphs.

the charging/USB port no longer works on my Triumph.

I've recently run into the same issue, although mine will still work, occasionally. If I play with the cable a bit, it will eventually work, and continue working as long as I don't move the phone around much. I've been meaning to call VM to try to get the phone replaced, but have been procrastinating. Hopefully they will replace it for me (and you!).

I had a similar issue. the charging port on the triumph is crap. I stopped working for all of my cables except the one that came with it. I sent it in for repairs and it seems fine now. However, I'm worried it will happen again as it's suspect quality. One, I don't want to have to send it in every few months for this, and two, what happens when the 1 year warranty is up?

I think mine is starting to exhibit similar symptoms to yours. My Triumph just doesn't seem to work with the LG USB cables I bought for my Optimus V, but it will work with the stock cable as well as my car charger.

They say that misery loves company, but all I see are more signs that the Triumph's QC is still way too lax. I want to believe, but you're making it hard, VMo!

Yes, VM was very good in sending me another phone when I called them about my usb port no longer working. They give you a refurb with no back cover or accessories and tell you to take the battery and micro sd from your defective phone to use. They also give you an envelope and tell you over the phone your return number to put on the envelope. Return the def phone within 2 weeks or they cancell your acc't. They were very curtious and my replacement phone arrived in 2 days....It works but the USB port has a known design flaw and is fragile. For 5 dollars a month, they will give you a 1 year replacement coverage plan and you have 2 weeks from getting the replacement phone to apply for it. It also covers if it is lost, stolen or broken upon their approval.... It might be a good insurance policy to get considering the fragile usb port.
