What do hamburgers, dogs, football...Have to do with the thread at all?
Start by reading post 1. It has all the relevant information for the Galaxy Nexus, plus a warning from the Admin that this is a lounge thread that is kept "mostly" on topic. But off topic conversation is allowed.

next theory, this happened at a VZ board meeting

Ok guys and gals

I talked to my buddy who has sold me two phones early in the past today, and he said he doesnt have stock (seriously they dont) and also to call him tomorrow afternoon for more information.

As far as he knows though, the 15th is the "target" launch date. just like the 9th was the date. I also got the same thing from 2 different best buy stores.

Im going to give it till wednesday and if it isn't shaping up to be legit or atleast look like it than im going to have to switch to ATT and order the GSM version.

Im thinking of picking up the iPhone 4s and selling it for a nice profit to ease some of the cost of buying from Expansys but I do get a nice 20% off discount from my new job.

This has just gotten stupidly ridiculous. I know its just a phone and all but some of us dont do a ton of nice things for ourselves and if your like me this is somewhat of a nerdy hobby/passion I have so it is kind of a big deal. Here's to the 15th though! Hopefully Verizon isn't as dumb as missing out on the last big shopping weekend of the holiday season.

Btw, "mostly" is very subjective. This thread to many people is basically a lounge+up to date news on the nexus. There are other threads in the Nexus category as well that are strictly on topic. Just sayin.

Edit: I didn't write this correctly so ignore the comment. I'm just busting your balls as my Giants lose here.

Catching up some and I see people are still throwing around the word "lying" in relation to VZW and everyone else not selling the phone.

Guys, I think VZW botched the launch to an extent but you need to understand something: we have no *right* to a product. This phone doesn't belong to us, it's not ours to demand. It's up to VZW when/if they sell it. They don't owe us anything except the products and services they feel will best line their pockets. We can always choose not to line their pockets if they don't offer the products and services we want. That's why I'm leaning towards getting a Titan with ATT if VZW delays the GN any further.

But if Verizon announced that a phone is coming out on their network for their customers to look forward to, it would make sense for them to fulfill that anticipation...

So if the 15th is the day, then everyone needs to post a picture of their phone, and this thread can end on a great note. If the 15th isn't the day, post pictures of how you really feel.:)

Nope can't do it. We would be banned. :p

I dont know what time it is in the UK, but.. it says published the 12th.. pre-orders for us as well tomorrow? Eh.. lol who knows.

5 hours ahead of the East coast

Wow! You're rational. I'm not used to that. Weird. ;)

I thought the same thing. :D

Twisting!

Unfortunately I can't back you up, as much as I would love to because they're not being very cordial in the whole matter, because she IS right. Don't take this as me discriminating, but because you are under 18 you cannot sign a legally binding contract. As you have not reached the age of majority, I'm sure Verizon has some policy regarding not allowing you to sign a contract because as a minor you have the ability to terminate it at any time. Its has nothing to do with you personally, simply the law in question. Sorry :(

I won't continue the legal debate re: minors and contracts, but I don't think thats what's important here in the first place. The real issue isn't whether she is "right" or not. The complaint LurksMoar is making is about the tone/attitude of her comments.

See:

"Sounds like a plan to me! Better make sure you tell your folks before you disconnect, seeing as how you're 17 years old and stuff."

"A 17 year old has no decision power since a 17 year old can't be an account owner. These guys aren't likely to take your threats very seriously since the right to disconnect isn't yours. Besides, where are you going to go? No one in the U.S. is offering this phone. Stop spamming this board and do your homework."

The sarcasm and the dismissiveness is what I think people are upset about. So regardless of whether she is "right" or not in the content of what she says, it's certainly true that she's sprinkled her comments with a heavy dose of condescension and sarcasm. Which of course is par for the course on the internet, but that doesn't make lurkmoar's feeling of being insulted any less substantial.

BUT...they aren't acting in their official capacity as CSR's right now. They are people on a Facebook page....not Verizon employees.

I don't buy this. So assuming they are csr's (i can't see their profiles), commenting on public forums on issues in which their employer is involved can be de factoacting in an official capacity. To illustrate this, think of a familiar kind of case: a police department is under fire for using heavy-handed tactics. a police officer in that department posts a dismissive and mocking response to a citizen who makes a complaint on the dept's public facebook page. I don't think many of us would find convincing the thought that this police officer is just acting in his private capacity. There isn't some neat and clear line between when you are acting in an official capacity and when youre not just because you are on your person facebook account. public office certainly doesn't work like that. and many companies' own behavior guidelines indicate that they themselves don't think like that.

edit: ninja'ed partially by drexeldragon and tom76 among others (i assume).
