My wife got rid of her iPhone when we temporarily left Verizon for AT&T. So yesterday I offered to pick her up another iPhone and she no longer wants one! I was so proud of her, I'm not sure if my excitement and obsession over the Nexus has swayed her or what.

Now she is not sure what she want's...She was considering the Stratosphere but I don't know anything about the reviews on that one yet.

if she wants a keyboard tell her to wait out for the d4, it should be perfected since its the 4th time its been rolled out lol

Hypothetical question, if for some God awful reason Verizon scrapped the Nexus, what would you get? Or would you wait to see what else is coming?

At this point I'm still running a nearly 4 year old blackberry storm I've waited this long I think I can hold out a little longer. I was waiting for the Galaxy S2 but Verizon passed on it supposedly for the GNex so I stuck it out at this rate i have to admit I'm getting sick of the waiting game.

I originally posted this question with a "quote"..i'd still like this question answered...

hopefully somewhone can help...

is the "Galaxy Nexus by Samsung" considered a Google device...or a Samsung Device?!?

basically what i'm asking does the Gnex fall into the same category as other Samsung devices which are currently be pursued by Apple?

from my understanding it is a Google device, not a Samsung device, but is manufactured by Samsung....does this fall under the same blanket as All Samsung products or is it seperate ?

I'm sorry, I did see that earlier.

Injunctions are very model specific. So, even if the SGS2 were somehow banned, it wouldn't apply to the Nexus even if it were considered a Samsung device.

As for it being a Google or Samsung for legal purposes, that's a good question - note that Samsung's page says it's from Verizon.

Point being that from or by - semantics. Apple isn't chafing over Samsung, they're chafing over Android and have been going after all top Android phones - Samsung, HTC, Motorola.

I've no doubt they'd love nothing more to dunk the Nexus for the PR value.

Not going to happen, though. ;)

Something tells me your a huge fan of linguistics. lol.
Whichever way you put it- Google hauls in the software, Samsung hauls in the hardware. You can coat it with whatever sugar anyone else might add lol.

I think the OP is asking who is legally responsible for the software on the Nexus if Apple comes calling with claims of patent infringement. I would think Apple would sue both parties, but there's probably an indemnification clause in the contract between Google and Samsung, and one party would get let out (I suspect Samsung). I actually haven't heard of any complaints by Apple regarding ICS, and I follow this stuff pretty well.

Random question: I dunno if this has been answered before but...has anyone actually figured out what type of "fortified glass" Samsung is using in the Galaxy Nexus. We know it's not Gorilla Glass...what other companies make something like it?

Yup got it when I read it the 2nd time around. Didn't mean to sound rude in my post OP- don't report me! :D

ok...let's pose this scenario...Apple went to Samsung and said "hey, we need to make a new laptop...you supply all the hardware and we'll supply all the software...we'll pay you $X to make X amount of laptops...we'll advertise it as an Apple and it will be an Apple laptop...you can put your logo on the back."...so...who's laptop is it?

with that being said...is the Galaxy Nexus a Google phone or a Samsung phone?

EarlyMon are you planning on picking up a Nexus?

I was planning to keep my Evo 3D and get a second phone, Nexus, for work - going back to the 2 phone thing instead of just one.

However, stuff has come up and now I won't be getting a second phone very soon at all.

So, for me - Nexus love: denied.

Google phone.

From what I've heard its just an in-house made glass by samsung themselves. Supposedly works just as well. I can see how "gorilla glass" can get caught into the whole marketing scheme.
Btw I used to trade a lot of Corning shares and recently the value has gotten diminished for this very reason. Companies such as LG and Samsung are now making all glass (not just for smartphones) in-house. Corning used to supply LG for their TV glass as well I believe.

I have been watching to see of the Droid Charge's price would be reduced, I was thinking this would be a good indicator the Nexus was close. I had read somewhere that the Nexus was replacing the Charge, if that's true then I am surprised Verizon hasn't lowered the price below $199 yet.

Thank you. This is why I love Samsung. The company that can make anything. :D

On that note, if anyone has more detailed information about this I'd love to read about it. Although I'd assume most is pretty hush-hush about it at this time.

1 GHz single core, 512 MB ram - yesterday's phone, but still very good if you want a slider.

My wife uses an Android slider (Evo Shift), fwiw - she loves the option of using the keyboard to get more real estate in landscape mode - but still glass types in portrait.

The phone I was keeping my eye on was the Note, I LOVE big screens. However, VZ is probably never going to get it so I've become a Nexling ever since. If the Note ever does come out I will surely be giving it a second look :).

I don't know I am just thinking that Corning would have charged a pretty penny to make the glass for the Nexus since it's rather large and curved.

I wish the Nexus was made from aluminum or carbon fiber.

The best analogy I've read (here in this very thread) - Kleenex is tissue, but it's not the only tissue. Bayer is aspirin, but it's not the only aspirin. Gorilla glass is a trade name for a known glass formulation, but Corning is not the only one making that formulation.

Yeah this is true, I cannot stand that plastic light weight-cheap feeling. I would so rather prefer a heavier steel frame or something, anything other than plastic. You take what you get..

I would buy the Note in a second. I would probably feel a little silly placing a phone the size of a Bluray case next to my ear though.

Haha honestly at that point I wouldn't even care what people would think. "Just leave me and my baby alone!!" The phone is gorgeous.

Agreed. At times, I feel like there is not enough weight to the device, almost like a "too light" feel, giving off the sensation of it being "cheap". Although this may be cause I'm coming down from a line of heavy HTC devices. :o
