Can't you just transfer the apk's?

You cab but paid apps won't update and it causes a huge issue. I have it happening now. I missed out on the adw deal because my brother gave me a real old copy and it reflects on the market as purchased even though I didn't buy it and it won't clear out. So google support team us helping clear the error :-D I was honest with them though...

BB check my prior post about your question :-)

Will we be able to use BW on an unrooted phone? Won't the Google search icon not allow us to put it at top of home screen even after disabling it?

Yes, even without rooting you still have a 4x4 grid on the home screen.

This would put the BW widget right under the Google search bar at the top.

OT Question

I am considering getting the Transformer Prime in addition to the Nexus. If we do get it, I will want to use it between multiple family members. Has anybody here found a good way (3rd party app maybe) to share a tablet between multiple people with different Google/Facebook/Twitter accounts?

Why not just use the browser?

There have been many complaints of Android introducing a way to manage multiple users.

Can you name a Broncos reciever? They traded their best 3 wrs when Tebow got the starting spot. Since then his recievers have dropped atleast 3 sure TDs in the endzone.

His RB has been washed up for the past 4 seasons and half of this one, yet he looks like a star all the sudden.

Give Tebow Gronkowski, Hernandez, Branch, Ocho, and Weller and he would look much better.

I would leave Och Stinko off the list.

And don't forget the the mic'd up players, the defense's signals and the video tapes............Cheatriots.

Do not ask the live chat people about stuff like that, they are clueless and most are ignorant and have no power at all. Call Customer Service and plead your case to them (you gotta be persuasive!) and I'm sure they will move your date up for you!
They will look up your payment record too. If you *always* pay on time you have a very good shot at it. If the CSR says no, ask for a supervisor. If you feel the csr is totally lame, just say goodbye and call back for another one. You can pretty much tell by the way they answer the phone.

Mods, we need another PSA, to warn people to exercise care when opening the Nexus boxes, as who knows what has made a home inside while it has been sitting on the shelves waiting for Verizon to release it... Because one spider bite while opening the box is one too many... (On the bright side, maybe this is why letting the CSR open the box is not such a bad thing) ;)

Quoted for veracity.

Some Apps also do a market check so if you have purchased it, some just won't run.

I feel like Moses -- LET MY NEXUS GO!

You can Deselect it to sync but no way to lock her out. I know I have the same thing on my wife's phone so she can access my paid apps and Google music account. She doesnt get my contacts or email, but its only a accidental click away

Yeah, it's the nosy 10 year old that will click and then say 'sorry, I didn't know that was what you meant don't click on '
:D
I wouldn't care (as much) if it was a significant other.

So who is going to stay calm if Thursday doesn't happen? I can't deal with this flip phone anymore, I have to rent a Rezound. If I had a Incredible or X I could wait.

You might be in a unique position to visit/call up your almost-fired friends at the VZW store and get some straight talk on the release date.

From flip-phone to Nexus to flip-phone? Ouch.

I think we all agree that the next scheduled date for the Galaxy Nexus is Thursday. But last Friday was also a scheduled date for release, and guess what... we're still in the pre-release thread. So will we still be here this Thursday and Friday?

Personally I will be jumping ship to the Rezound because my current phone only has a 14-day return period. If this Thursday doesn't pan out, I only have until Monday then I have to make a decision or else I risk getting stuck with my LG. :(

But otherwise...YES. :D

I felt badly for Barber. But how do you call a running play to the outside? As for the fumble in OT, he was prob trying too hard in order to make up for the lapse in regulation. It really boiled down to, he stays in bounds and they almost certainly win the game with no timeouts remaining for Denver.

OT Bears:

I just strongly dislike Barber..he is a tainted Cowboy! He is a good goal line RB but he's not a starter..I think Bears should be starting Bell while Forte is out.

And on the lines of Tebow..I think he is pretty good but he doesn't know how to play until the 4th quarter comes around. He had a lot of passes that were dropped by his poor WRs.

On Topic:

The Go-Wireless that said they would be selling today...thats a no go (surprise) I'm not counting on a retailer to mess up and sell me one before VZW says so. When I see it on their website I will believe I can walk into a retailer and purchase this magic phone.

Anyone know if third-party retailers like Best Buy and Radio Shack sell the accessories? I really want the extended battery, but if I can only get it at a corporate Verizon store, that limits my purchase options.

If the device is Rooted you can try "freezing" Gmail, and well I would say contacts but she wouldn't be able to use her own contacts.

Anybody find a velcro size case to fit this thing yet.

I've used aftermarket, plastic cases, snap in, but the top flap style just works for me when I crawl all over and around equipment, etc.

All the ones I've found are now too short, to fit this hog.

It doesn't have to be exactly like this, just something similar.

Flea market velcro job is fine, as long as it holds the phone.

I've been eying this: Amazon.com: Black Leatherized Wing Case for Samsung Galaxy S II SyRocket , Galaxy Nexus , Exhibit II , Stratosphere * Includes micro-USB Charging cable**: Electronics

and this

The velcro one worries me a bit because I'd hate to have the thing rip open and spill the phone onto the concrete, but it will accommodate a case if necessary.

I say you have a better chance at Verizon, why not make two trips?

For anyone interested in finding out the details on what is (apparently and almost certainly-for me- after perusing the following website) holding up the US launch of the Galaxy Nexus, please peruse:
Partnering with Isis: About Isis and FAQ | Isis News

To summarize and abridge, if Verizon allows the use of Google Wallet they:

  1. Do not make money through the in-app advertising (other than the data connection used to display the ad, I guess)
  2. Do not control the "Wallet" of the user (with ISIS your Wallet is controlled and managed by your Carrier) as a "security and convenience" measure (where the holdup almost certainly is)
  3. Do not make deals with merchants for special offers and the advertising that goes along with it.
The hangup here is both Greed and Control. In Google Wallet, Google makes the money off of the ads and directed marketing ("offers" that direct consumers into stores- can be almost as lucrative as ads if done properly), and Google hosts your "wallet" for you to control online. Think of the second point like this: Both options are like banking, but in ISIS to control things you go through your branch (the carrier), while GW is like online-banking where you have a secure option to control everything yourself.

In reviewing the information ISIS has available, I only see one feature that would be any more secure than GW. ISIS incorporates a "dynamic CVV" to ensure that every transaction is distinct (a software protocol that Google could easily adopt), although now that I think about it "PayPass" probably has this as well, so it might not be that big of a difference. So basically I am saying that there is no evidence whatsoever that Google Wallet poses a "Security concern" that ISIS resolves- as Verizon claimed when approached about "blocking" Google Wallet.

The other point to consider here is that by ISIS' own admission, it is not ready/in-place yet, with no plans to launch until mid-2012. The way they are targeting merchants tells me they are having trouble signing people on, and so that might even get delayed.

So what (after this abridged rant) is the reason for the delay? Here's how I see it (read: opinion):

  1. Google included GW in it's build or intends to push it to the device soon after launch.
  2. Verizon said hold up- we are insecure with this, we need it to mirror our own plans, and give us control of the wallet for convenience, and a chunk of the marketing income, or not compete with our product later this year at all
  3. Google says no at first (initial delay/hold-up), but then bends to work on a compromise which will either be:

  • A watered-down Verizon-specific Google Wallet
  • No Google Wallet at all on device (or afterwards on the GN)
Because they are holding existing stock waiting for release tells me that a compromise is on the way, and it will most likely be an OTA update that removes Google Wallet from the OS, but it might also just be watering it down to appease Verizon and not let it compete with ISIS later this year. There is an extremely slim possibility that Google is updating Wallet to accommodate the "dynamic CVV," but I really don't think that would be the case if it would still mean that GW could compete with ISIS later on.

Just my thoughts, and I could be wrong, but that's the why-fores that see out of this mess...

I've made the wait for the Nexus a bit easier by installing WidgetLocker with an ICS lockscreen, ADW.Launcher EX with an ICS theme + icon pack, and the phase beam live wallpaper on my OG Droid. It's a bit laggy and I've noticed a drop in battery life but anything to help the wait is fine by me :P

Yeah. I am. But I'm not even sure how to do it on hers. It's the Continuum. (I got it free)

She wouldn't need to be rooted, you would just side load the apps. Keep in mind though again some apps do a "Market" check. So if your account isnt on her phone. They may not work.

A lot of people are wanting this phone badly and will run out Thursday to pick it up, but nobody is talking about Unlocking the Bootloader and rooting it right away? Why not?
Will majority not root?:o
