Root Stuck in reboot loop after flashing WarmTwoPointTwo

Does anyone recall how long it usually takes a newly Warmed EVO to boot after first flashing the WarmTwoPointTwo ROM and the corresponding other zip files (radios, stock fonts, etc.)?

I just did my sister's phone, and I don't recall mine or my father's taking so long to reboot after flashing everything. My sister's goes through the WarmTwoPointTwo screen with the spinning circle saying, "Please wait while starting...", but it does this for about 5 minutes, then the screen goes black, returns to this flashing circle Warm screen, goes black, returns to the same screen, etc., etc. It's as if it's stuck in a rebooting loop. It's been doing it for about 20 minutes at least.

What can be causing a reboot loop? This never occurred with my EVO or my father's, and I rooted it and put WarmTwoPointTwo on in the same manner.

what did you wipe? what recovery do you have?

20 min is average for most roms.

and it is not a boot loop but just the repeat of the boot animation. now if it goes back to the htc white screen then the boot animation then you have a bootloop. some boot animations will not recycle the just stay on the very last image.

Warm 2.2 was my first rom flash back in the days. I don't remember it taking that long, but I really don't remember.

WARM 2.2!!! Awesome! That was my first rom too (@granite), I loved it!
Hmm.. I'd try to wipe and flash again. Seems like I had to do that in the past (not necessarily with warm 2.2 though).

I seriously am syked that someone is using warm 2.2!

Third time's a charm, I guess. I don't know why, but it took 3 attempts to finally be successful, and I did the same procedure each time. Weird.

Awesome you got it working!

Warm was a good rom, I got rediculous battery with that one and netarchy CFS HAVS SBC kernel, can't remember the # anymore.

I think I only ran Warm once or twice very briefly. I was usually running MikFroyo back then. Still a huge Mik fan. He does great work.

Well, this problem has now occurred on my father's newly-rooted EVO. He just got it this week, and 3 days ago I rooted it and put on WarmTwoPointTwo. It was running fine until apparently this morning. He called to tell me that after he turned the phone on this morning, it was stuck in the Warm animation reboot.

I walked him through rebooting to recovery, then had him do a complete wipe and reflash the ROM and the corresponding files, including updated radios. Well, same problem. Nothing he has tried has worked. It just keeps going to the Warm animation screen and loops in and out of that, even after flashing this thing a couple times to get it going. :(

That's odd. Maybe it's a bad download.

Also, what recovery are you using? You didn't flash the rom through rom manager did you? I would recommend Amon RA 2.3 and ALWAYS flashing manually through recovery instead of using an app like rom manager, which is proven to be buggy at best.

I'm definitely using Amon Ra, which is how I flashed it. Moreover, I did it the same way I did my sister's, which has been fine.

Hmm, ok. What was your wiping process with the phone? My process is always the same. Wipe data/factory reset, wipe cache, wipe dalvik cache and then flash Calkulin's format all. It is found in this thread.

A lot of people swear by wiping everything three times and/or running the Virus Superwipe, but I personally think it's overkill. If you're using RA 2.3, it wipes everything correctly the first time, so you don't need to mess with multiple wipes.

Also, did you put a custom kernel on there or just stock? There could be an issue with the phone not liking the kernel if you flashed one that was undervolted. But if you just flashed the rom (and hence, the stock kernel) then I'm at a loss of why it's acting all weird unless it was just a bad download.

I'm going to his place within the hour to see what I can do, but to answer your question, I wipe the entire thing, then wipe both cache and dalvik, then I install Warm, followed by the updated radios.

I use the stock kernel and haven't messed around with that or anything else.

If I can't get it working, I might just end up going with another ROM like CM7 or something.

Well, been working on it to no avail. I've tried everything I could, but I can't get this thing to get past the Warm boot animation screen. I've never heard of this before.

Actually, that's what I'm doing. I'm flashing CM7's latest. So far so good. I did Warm for two reasons: 1, It's a great ROM, and 2, it's what I and my sister have, so we just wanted to keep it all in the family. :D

Hmm.. I'm guessing that these phones are 2.3 right? I wonder if there is something about the new hboot that doesn't care for old 2.2 roms? I mean, it sounds weird as hell that this would happen twice... especially when I don't remember hearing about this at all in the 2.2 days... ? Maybe.

Hmm... It was just something that I noticed, and thought, what the hell... If so, I wonder why...

I mean, it isn't all that *unlikely* that it would go unnoticed. Most people will be flashing new 2.3 roms... so putting a 2.2rom on a phone with the bootloader from 2.3 evos might cause some issues... Though, I'm not entirely sure why.
