Google Wallet - No Root Needed :)

Merged threads together

Also I can confirm that you cannot get google wallet on the GSM version without root or this. I have installed this on my GSM Galaxy Nexus, but I have not used it to confirm it works.

But it does install.

The app installed fine for me but its been trying to activate the Google prepaid card for 5 minutes now... is that normal? I'm on a working Wifi connection.

Edit: Restarted my phone and the activate complete.

This app is really laggy for me; does anyone else notice that?

same issues here

edit: went to settings/apps,wallet, force closed it, cleared cache and data, retried app and went through perfectly

I side loaded the app and got the prepaid $10 and all seems fine. My is question is how can I add more funds to the prepaid card if I wanted to? I don't have a Citi card, but do have a Visa BoA debit/credit that I'd like to pull funds from and add to the Google prepaid. I just have to say that this NFC stuff is blowing my mind. I can't wait to use NFC and blow others minds, too :p

Just used it at Wawa :-) can confirm that it works

Click on add funds then enter the card that you want to use. It asks you how much you want to add click submit and you are finished.

I can confirm you dont have to be rooted to install Google Wallet on the vzw nexus. Havent used it to pay yet though. The $10 prepaid card activated fine too.

Would you be able to tell me where you put the apk, and what program you used to install.

Edit: used astro file manager. Winrar.

Just thinking about whether or not to link google wallet to my gmail account. Since google knows i'm on a verizon device. Did you guys do that or make a dummy google account?

Am i the ONLY person on androidforums so giddy about this that i'm asking these questions at 3:30 AM? or am i just late to the party? :p

Installed the APK, got my $10 dollars and went to CVS. Bought some candy and everything worked great. People in line asked me all about it. I was honestly surprised it worked.

Linked to my original gmail account. No issues.

How cool is this, huh? Thank you sooooo much to the OP. I've downloaded the apk and installed for the free $10.00. I haven't spent any yet, but any FREE money is GOOD money this time of the year!

And I'm sure they would have thought of this, but what is stopping us from creating alternate e-mails and cashing in on that free $10 multiple times? Would two legit people even be able to use the same device? And if so, how could it tell the difference when it's real or fake? If anyone knows I'm just curious! Thanks again, this is unexpected and a very nice treat to make this killer device just that much better!!!

Haha, I read your post after making one of my own... see above ^

I am extremely excited to have this working. The rumors circling a week before the launch date had me all but sure that we would never see this on here. Or at least not without rooting, which I hadn't planned on doing. This is awesome.

Curse you all. This is making me want this phone a lot sooner than I planned ... I still don't have the funds required yet!! ARGGG!!!

:P

All you have to do is side load the apk I have it on my stock 4.0.2 Gnex right now with the $10 prepaid card and everything

MEGAUPLOAD - The leading online storage and file delivery service

Now if only someone could explain to me exactly how this works so I don't make an idiot out of myself at Wawa lol

If indeed u can get google wallet on the nexus u should be able to just syart the app and touch the middle of the phone to the nfc scanner and it will read just as if you were using the feature to beam info to another nfc phone

I'll go ahead and be the noob here... how does one go about 'sideloading' this APK?

First make sure you've checked the option to allow installation of non-market apps. Settings>security>unknown sources

Then download the file from the original post to your computer.

Then transfer it to your phone.

Navigate to the file using your phone and a file explorer app like Astro.

Click it and select "install."

Edit: Or download it using your phone's browser then go to your "downloads" app and click the file.

Did you have to open the Wallet app before tapping? Edit: never mind. I just found out from the Help section in the app.

Well that was easy! Worked. $10 richer, and prepaid card topped off to $100. Bitchin! Think I have to hit up Home Depot later today anyway, will be a good test opportunity.
