So, I've downloaded all three links for Linus and none of them have a "run.sh" file. Also, how would I use chmod?
What are you referring too "three links for linus"?
You cant use chmod for the admire yet.

I need some major help. Im quite sure I could root my phone if I could just get the correct drivers. I downloaded the drivers from the site and the cmd prompt still says device not found. Any help would be very appreciated
Runnin windows 7, it makes the sound indicating that my device is detected. Just did A wipe to my phone, still no luck
that worked after i updated the driver to get the cmd to recognize it but now i get an error message
So I went through the process of rooting, and deleted a bunch of the bloatware recommended. With the exception of Metronav, IM & Social (I do use Facebook) and MetroPCS Easy WiFi.
Also, I have read about people getting 3g signal after rooting. I am not getting that either...
Two ways to try to get 3g. Easiest first. Dial *228, then option 5.

The ones I am still unsure of whether or not I shoud uninstall are Voice Dialer and Voice Search.
In lurking around, I have seen reports that after rooting, and removing bloatware, people went from having less than 2mb system ROM free to having around 100.... This would explain speeding up the phone substantially...
In my case, with the uninstalls I have done, I am still at only 19.7 mb free out of 187. So obviously, I haven't noticed any significant increase in the phones speed. Is there something I am missing?

Now that you figured the 3G out lol ( it used to be a 8 step process) .. need to download "link2SD" app then move everything to it besides system apps ie: google, contacts, etc & widgets since they will not load on re-boot if they are on the SD. So games, and any other app you've added thats not being used as a widget move then you should get 80-105mb free.
ok, did as you instructed. My "System ROM" remains the same (19.7 free) I did, however notice that my "Internal" went up from 50ish to 91.3 free. Does this sound right???
Yes. Internal I am showing about the same, Ram is at around 105 free and hd space internal anything above 70mb is going to allow your phone to run smooth .. now just continue to repeat the process of moving every app you download to your sd card as long as it is not a widget and you should maintain the speed along with the free space just incase you need it in the future for a system app of some sort that you want .. i clear my cache once a day usually or every time i surf the web/android market plus delete my tombstones and data cache every once in a while which is located using root explorer /date/tombstones
So, I just went in to data/tombstones as instructed..... Selected all, and deleted. Somehow this deleted all of the files in /data/ and now nothing on my phone works, it went a little skitzo and shut down. I turned it back on, and it somehow reset itself, and I have lost EVERYTHING.... Now I gotta start all over. <<<F**K ME>>> I don't even see any of the apps I had already put on my sd card....
Not your fault, I must have done something wrong. Oh well, back to square one.
This is exactly what I've done,, and I still get the same issue as the poster above you. When I open superuser it just lists apps for rooting...and root checker says not rooted
(this was to the guy who posted instructions for windows users...)
Sorry to hear that but im def spot on deleting the tombstones dat>tombstones>this is the folder you need to clear not data\
I dont know what / how to fix if data\ was deleted .. factory reset is hold power/home/vol down button but it sounds like you already did that .. have you tried inside titanium backup > re-install backup of the files you had and now are missing ?
I thought I was in the tombstones folder, but somehow, I guess I wasn't. Spent the afternoon re-rooting and reinstalling stuff. Seems to be working fine...
You mentioned that you had 100+ of RAM, and around 100 "internal".... My phone shows System ROM (not RAM) of 26.7 free out of like 186. Is this the same as RAM?? This is the same number it showed before the crash too. Just wondering if that is a good number. Before rooting and removing BS, it was only 1.8mb free. So is 26.7 good, or can that be increased somehow??
As for my "Internal", prior to rooting was around 50mb, after rooting went to 96mb, then after the crash and rerooting it is at like 150mb free.
RAM,ROM, Internal Storage are 3 seperate things. Ram is what moves up and down depending on what all you have running and open. So it could say 30mb free if alot of things are open / running or 100+ if you just restarted your phone .. I use 1 touch reboot widget anytime it starts running slow. ROM is internal system memory that you cant change i dont believe and it stays almost full 20mb free or whatever which is system items & processes. Internal is like hard drive space on you phone if you have all of your games and apps that dont require system process on your sd card then you should have 100 or so free so sounds about right. I also use 1 touch cache cleaner also.
