Help Removing Synced Picasa Photos?

The culprit here is Google+. First go to it and disable instant upload. Then go to it's app information either through Settings -> Apps -> Google+ or by dragging it from the app drawer to the top of the screen. Force stop it and then clear it's data. Do the same (force stop + clear data) to Gallery. Your picasa pics should be gone now.

an issue i have is not with picasa but the stock ics messenger has somehow posted a thumbnail of me in my message window, and i can't get rid of it. Last i recall this image was from my google talk/chat app and i got rid of it from there too but its still showing up on my phone.....any tips ticks for this annoyance

Killer you rock! :D

I tried the method that TIM K did and it worked perfectly. THEN.... I read Jakechances method LOL. I wish I would have tried that first, but oh well. Maybe I'll sync it back up just to see if I can get Jake's to work LOL.

Thanks guys!!! That was driving me nuts.

TRY THIS!!!
Settings>Accounts and Sync

Tap Activate auto-sync
Tap your Google Account
then uncheck Sync Picasa Web Albums
back Tap Activate auto-sync for uncheck.
DONE

NOTE : After you do this method, Never tap Sync Picasa Web Albums forever :D

with this method you never lose your photos on picasa web.

Am I not correct to assume that if the account in question is your primary account you start with when you configure the phone, you can't delete it? This was always the case on every other Android phone I have owned. If you have to delete the primary account your only option was to do a full factory reset. Or if you wanted to replace the primary with a different account, same story.

after ensuring that picasa sync is unticked. Go to settings, manage applications, find gallery and force stop. then remove data.
When you next open it, it will import pictures from the memory, but no picasa.

is it at all possible to pick which albums or pix are synced from picasa to the phone?

if i have a lot of photos, i definitely don't want all the pictures to take up storage space on the phone but might want some of the pictures to be accessible/synced on the phone, is there currently no option of customizing this?

I can confirm that mrvirginia's method works.

Go into Settings, Select Apps, Find Gallery, Select Gallery, Clear data, Disable Gallery.

Go back to accounts, delete your google account from the phone.
Add your google account back to the phone, go into the sync options and immediately uncheck "google photos".

Go back into settings > apps and scroll way down until you find Gallery. Select it and re-enable it.

You should be good to go.

BIG THANKS to mrvirginia for this one. I was getting quite annoyed.

I tried the above method as well, and to my surprise, it worked easily. Thanks guys.

You are a gentleman and a scholar and I salute you in FINALLY solving this issue for me! And it's so simple too...I have no idea why I never thought to try doing this...

It all has to deal with a Google+ account. Go to google+ and delete the pictures there and then sync your google pictures to tell the phone they're not there anymore and they'll be gone~! ^ ^ Hope this helps!

Sort-of unrelated. I've got a stock Rezound with 2.3.4 and having trouble with Accounts & sync > Google > Instant Upload. It is still syncing long after there us nothing left to sync. It would run all day if I gave it the chance. Is this just a Rezound issue, a 2.3.4 issue, or a Google issue? Any suggestions?

Thanks JakeChance! That worked for me.

Guys who have this problem of synced photos in gallery.. clear the Google plus data and cache, problem solved.. it worked for me..also force atop after that.. :smokingsomb:

maybe another method would be usefull.
i removed the required photos from my picasa program on laptop.
this has the advantage of being able to chose the shots, and is easy
to do via the normal menu.
then return to the nexus, and,as above, stop both gallery and g+ then
cancel data, and cache on both. now switch off phone.after short
period restart, nexus will run photo data update, but without the deleted
pics.worked well for me..on uk gsm nexi.:)

I had to register to the forum just to say thank you to you and mrvirginia for helping me figure this out. I didn't even need to remove my Google account. Just clearing the Gallary cache removed the pictures from the Gallary. So far, I am really pleased with the N7.

Its a small fix, remove account, add the same account and then uncheck the Picasa box before you starts sync your google account.

If you want to remove the extra contacts with no contact number. You can go to contacts --> settings --> Check the box infront of Only contacts with phones

This was the only thing that helped me erase those annoying picasa photos. I tried everything everyone else said about deleting the Google account and re-adding it, ect twice but it never worked. As soon as I tried this only once it worked right away! Thank you soon much!! :)

I had trouble getting the picasa images removed, no matter how quickly I got to the the photo sync off setting.

I ended up disabling the gallery app by getting app info >> remove cache >> remove data >> disable. Gallery app was then gone from my app list completely.

(I didn't think this would remove or make inaccessible the stock app completely, so I was worried for a moment, and then was pleased to know that stock apps can be disappeared —bye bye annoying Play Magazine store.)

Thinking I'd just get a new all for photos and videos, I found Gallery ICS app in the play store. It's the stock gallery app downloadable for those that don't have ICS. It's perfect, and doesn't want to sync with picasa.

I couldn't resist moving onto banish Wallet and Goog+. It's nice to have control of the devices we own.

Anyone know how to get these apps back should one change their mind?
