I agree Syd, it will be better for battery, but 2.6.1 is dark WITHOUT battery.zip installed.
I think it should be brighter by default.
That's a fair point, put the display tweaks in the battery zip??

Hmm. I think it was because I set the screen to dynamic about half hour ago to try to up the brightness.
Back on standard, the screens do now seem pretty much identical on S99 and 2.6.1, so I'm back on 2.6.1 now.
Is your screen brightness auto-adjusting properly? Mine no longer seems to do this as briskly and as intelligently as usual.

Thanks butty.
However i'm not entirely sure your battery.zip is actually being executed
(see my pm)
I'll do some more testing....

Its all down to file formats differing to Windows files butty.
Linux and UNIX have a different convention for text files compared to Windows.
Windows files delimit each line with 2 characters, a Carriage-Return and a Line-Feed
UNIX (and Linux) delimit with just a CR
Hence when you open up a .zip in 7Zip and look at the contents to 01Siyah, updater-script etc, the lines are all joined up and are difficult to read.
If you place a CR-LF delimited file in init.d for example, the CR character will be detected and the line run, then it will try to execute the next line with a LF character at the start, and will therefore fail.
So chances are that battery.zip file of yours was not actually being run.
If I were you I would download the file again and give it a go with Gokhan's parameters.
If you want a V3 file with V2 screen parameters then I can send one to you

I'm not sure if something's up with my phone, but every time I change the setting to "when screen is off" I come out of the screen, go back in a few moments later and it's defaulted back to "never". Any thoughts?
menu>settings>wireless+networks>wifi settings>menu>advanced>wifi sleep policy
HA HA.
Have you seen what Gokhan has posted up?

You're always on the pop, surprised you get anything working on your phone shotgun
Finally, I think I got to right place to ask. I have rooted my phone to oxygen ROM and put the siyah kernel on it. But I'm still not happy with the battery :/ So it would be great if you could tell me how can I fix it.
If I got it right, a have to flash Ultimate Kernel Cleaning Script before flashing the kernel. And have to use version for Samsung Based ROMS only( because of oxygen ROM on it?!).
my phone is Samsung GT-I9100
thanks in advance
Because I can't post link in my first post I was thinking of this. It confuses me because it says Samsung Galaxy S I9000 in title.
Yes, flash the cleaner zip (I'm pretty sure you need the Samsung based one for Oxygen) then the kernel.
Don't worry, it works fine on the s2, myself and others here have been using it on ours for a while now.
I don't mind the darker screen but it's non-reaction to ambient lighting when set on auto is a bit perplexing.
There is definitely a drop in overall volume output, as Shotgun mentioned.
Since flashing 2.6.1 and the batt zip v3 and then undervolting each clock step by 75mVs, my phone runs warmer than it ever has. It's not worryingly hot, but it's got me wondering about the benefits of undervolting since heat is energy and it's presence would seem to indicate that the phone isn't using all the juice the battery is putting out ie.less efficient.
One other thing, and I'm not sure if it's down to the kernel or if it's just an input interface bug, I've had problems with text editing in the browser (particularly here on the forum), the cursor can't always be placed at the end of the text being edited. I had the same problem weeks ago but thought it had been ironed out.
