Siyah Gingerbread kernel (v2.x)

Y'know, my phone is working pretty bloody well on S99 with the second battery mod (the one that Gokhan replaced first up) and with some mild undervolting. So far my phone has been on for 34h 55 mins, 17hr 18 min of that was in deep sleep and 14hr of that was at 100MHz (my phone never goes into deep sleep whilst charging). There have been so many updates recently, with conflicting reports on what is and isn't working, that I think I'm happy to stick with S99 for the time being - certainly until CheckRom v5 is released and/or a version of Siyah is posted that is markedly different / improved from teh current raft of offerings.

Sydney will be so proud

Didn't want to post a negative on ironass's first class user guide to siyah 2.6.2, but this brought back the sydney stutter big time. It was horrible. Am thinking my phone only tolerates the more conservative governors such as ondemandx which has been silky smooth??

Did the stutter appear after changing settings with the lulzactive app? My first attempt was too far towards the battery saving and caused a bit of stutter for me. So I played around with the settings for a while and it disappeared.

Yeah that does sound like your phone doesn't like lulzactive. Which I suppose is a good thing for me as its my favourite. I wouldn't want that KOD'd :D

Syd, try running my script (to clear init.d) then just install the battery.zip file and nothing else.

if memory serves, this by default will set scheduler to sio, governor to ondemandx 100 min, 800 max.

How does it perform with that setup?

if it still stutters bump the max up to 1200.
if still no joy with that, experiment with different governors.

failing that, put S99 back on (or NEAK which is going to be the one to watch in my opinion)

thanks hawker

already been using your cleaner

ondemandx 100-800 with undervolting works a dream with no stutter on 2.6.1, so gonna stick with that and accept i can't play around with the new-fangled lulzactive app settings (are some of the settings on this app the same as the settings in the advanced tab on set cpu??)

i use gokhan's v1 battery zip, as i don't mind a bit of darkness and display always top battery drainer.

have updated jkay to 13.3.8, but the brightness settings don't seem to make any difference at all - presumeably gokhan's settings overide/take priority over the jkay settings

anybody else find this and any clever bods out there know how to change this? what about hawker's tweaked battery zip - do the jkay settings work with this??

What's wrong with JKay's v13.3.9 then Syd? :D

Not that it helps with your/my problem I fear. I think you are right about gokhanmoral's settings overriding JKay's though. :(

I'm using hawker's GoodScreen battery.zip and the same thing applies.

13.3.8 and 2.6.1 - i like it very slightly retro;)

HAWKER - where are you fella, surely the brains on this forum can work this out

For what I can make out jkays new option affects the brightness level if the screen when switching between dark/light conditions. For this to take affect you well have to have you're screen display brightness level set to auto.
It works for me on siysh. If I set jkay's setting to darkest then there is no difference to the screen brightness when switching between dark and light.
If set to the brightest setting then there is a big difference.

mmm, doesn't seem to work like that for me (and ironass??) will try again.....

OOOOhhhh yeah!

How stoopid do I feel?

So I'm sat here with a torch and shining it on to the front sensor and you are right. If I set Automatic brightness in Settings > Display > Brightness and then the JKay setting to Auto brightness profile, Darkest and shine a light on it and then remove it, my screen is darker than if I do the same thing with the Brightest setting which reverts back to a lighter screen. It seems that you have to trigger the sensor for the first time to notice the difference.

Cheers old boy for clearing that up! :D

Running 2.6.2 , Checkrom V4 , Luzactive and SIO.Setting of luzactive tweaked with luzactive app as recommended.

"New mali drivers from Galaxy Tab Plus, PLUS the DVFS part which has 3 steps instead of 2. The second step clock is set to 267 instead of 266 to provide compatibility with voltage control app."

Does this 3 steps for GPU need to be enabled separately or is enabled by default.Voltage control app still shows two steps 160Mhz and 267 Mhz?

If i try to change manually in voltage control app the gpu control for high power state to 300 Mhz it doesnt let me do it, only to 400 mhz.

I thought the third step was 300 mhz.How to enable it?

Thanks for your help

i'll join ironass on the dunce's table then - it's as exactly you describe hawker and working perfectly well:o

says he's going to publish some lulzactive params - he's probably copied them from your guide ironass

:D:D:D Bl**dy idiot if he has!

You just make sure you stay, "retro" with your Siyah kernel and give the rest of us a chance. :p

I'm guessing this release is just going of consist of lots of minor tweaks to v2.6.2. Looks like a re-write of my guide then. :(

Try the lulzactive governor with the default kernel params instead of the battery.zip ones. My own config is based on it and enabling lulzactive alone gave nasty GUI lag. I removed my 01siyah script, rebooted and.... woosh! :)

tried it, and unfortunately no better:rolleyes:

consider your god-like status revoked to demi-god slug, you are part human afterall.

(only joking, thanks for suggestion)

Here is the, very interesting, changelog for the forthcoming Siyah 2.6.3 release:-

"changelog:

Fixed setting of lulzactive & smartassV2 parameters via scripts
battery optimized defaults.
changed the order of internal & external sdcards in cwm recovery. internal sdcard can now be mounted over usb in cwm recovery, but external sdcard cannot be mounted.
updated codecs
removed siyah-battery, siyah-defaults and siyah-performance scripts from the blog. please remove all existing scripts before installing this version (or flash your existing rom again to remove all scripts). use init.d scripts if you know what you do, otherwise use VoltageControl app or ThunderBolt! scripts.
"

hawker!!! does your kernel cleaner take care of the script removal old son?

(I'm guessing it does from our discussions... but I want to check)
